A Prayer for Ukraine

By | International, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

A people suffer at the hand of a tyrant, Lord,
The innocent trapped among the unjust ambitions
Of those who seek power and dominance
So, we come to You for guidance and help.

For You are a Just Judge, Sovereign Father,
You hear the cry of the poor and desolate
And abhor the proud and haughty.
Let Your swift judgment unfold over all the earth.

Bring to light what is unknown
That Your name be praised among all.
Do not let evil men get away with their oppression
Of the humble and displaced.

We pray against this unjust war in Ukraine.
We pray for peace and order and fruitfulness.
We pray for a miraculous unfolding—a frustrating
That turns all meant for evil, for good.

We rejoice at the thought,
Recognizing Your holy signature in such themes—
Over and again, throughout history
The wicked fail, only You prevail.

Let it be so yet again, Lord.
Help us to speak boldly and in truth
To lift our voices in prayer and denunciation
Exposing the dark works of unrighteousness,

And coming to the aid of those who are in need,
The children, and women, most vulnerable of all.
We pray that hope may increase, for it never fails—
Not when You are it, our Hope. Be that for Ukraine.

Amen.

A Prayer for Afghanistan

By | LBB, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

LORD,

Words fail to express the sorrow
Of the Body of Christ here in America
As we consider the fate
Of our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan.

The images are just heartbreaking.
The stories, agonizing.
We grieve for those in such perilous situations
Wondering what awaits their families.

Help! Lord.
We humbly ask for Your guidance
For our leaders and those with the
Power and means to come to their aid.

We consider, and plead especially,
For the women and children who are
Specifically targeted by the evil rule
Of the Taliban. Rise against it, Lord.

Stretch out Your mighty hand
And show Your awesome power
For all the world to see that
You are God!

Frustrate the enemy’s plans at every turn.
Let those uncommitted to freedom and liberty
Among our leaders in Washington be exposed,
Let them be removed from their posts.

Let the righteous rule again
That the people may rejoice,
As Your Word says, Lord.
And strengthen the knees of Your Church.

Give us faith to engage the spiritual fight
We so often overlook.
Give us spiritual eyes and help us
To pray fervently in the power of the Spirit.

Hear the plight of those who,
In their distress, cry out to You.
Deliver them and protect them.
Let Your wisdom increase in Afghanistan.

May the threat of persecution
Be a catalyst for Your Word to flourish,
For Your church to do as our Lord and Savior did,
To give our very lives for love.

Teach us to love, Father.
Teach us to have compassion—
To be moved as Jesus when He saw the crowds,
And give us the faith to multiply the loaves and the fish.

For what is impossible with men,
It is possible with God.
We know this to be true, Lord,
And we declare it anew.

We believe.
We believe in You, our Father.
We believe in Your Son, Jesus, in whose name we pray.
We believe in Your Holy Spirit, through whom we pray.

Amen.

Get ‘Em While They’re Young

The most innocuous category of our useless TV ratings system is TV-Y. According to the parental guidelines, it signifies content that is suitable for preschool children (2-6). This is such a formative, innocent age that even children’s networks have developed a junior version (i.e., Nick Jr., Disney Junior) to target these little ones.

Some popular shows have followed suit, developing toddler versions of their shows, specifically targeted to this age group. For example, Disney Junior has developed “Muppet Babies.” Just one look at the baby versions of the classic characters like Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, and Gonzo puts a smile on your face.

But I hope by now you know that you cannot entrust your children to the culture. I spoke to NTD News recently about San Francisco’s Gay Men’s Chorus coming out publicly with a song proclaiming they want to “convert our children.”

Please note, you cannot trust the TV ratings either. The Muppet Babies’ latest episode introduces your preschooler to the first transgender princess.  Season 3, Episode 19, titled “Gonzo-rella / Summer’s Car Trouble,” just as it sounds, plays on the old story of Cinderella, but now featuring the beloved Gonzo character…

The Spiritual War Against Children

By | Culture, LBB, Legal, News and Events, Sex Trafficking / Pornography, Sexual Exploitation, Substack | No Comments

I have pleaded with you before to realize that secular humanists are systematically targeting our children for indoctrination. A recent op-ed titled “Yes, kink belongs at Pride. And I want my kids to see it.” in one of our nation’s most prestigious newspapers, The Washington Post, helps stress the urgency of the call to stand up and fight for your children.

Though The Post makes the headline personal to make the writer Lauren Rowello’s message more palatable, her call is collective. She is pushing community standards. It’s not that she wants her kids to see sexual deviant behavior (she will make sure of that); she wants your kids to see it. That is why she is writing publicly, advocating for the behavior to be kept in full public display of children—again, they are the target.

She is not urging this wickedness for herself or even as the “self-expression” of those involved, but for the great “benefit” of corrupting children’s minds.

To their shame, The Washington Post, gives her a platform to expand her reach. The author writes, “Children who witness kink culture are reassured that alternative experiences of sexuality and expression are valid — no matter who they become as they mature, helping them recognize that their personal experiences aren’t bad or wrong, and that they aren’t alone in their experiences.”

Your child needs this, you see. That is why Pride parades must be celebrated in public on the busiest streets of the most dynamic of towns. And the more sexually deviant behaviors they showcase, the better…

SCOTUS Strikes Down Philadelphia’s Anti-Christian Policy

By | Case Vault, Legal, News and Events, SCOTUS | No Comments

Catholic Social Services (CSS) has been serving the underprivileged children of Philadelphia for over two centuries. The organization serves children through adoption and foster care services as an outpouring of the love embodied in the tenets of the Christian faith.

This is a problem for the Left.

Today’s secular humanist Left is adamant about crushing dissenting views. All people and organizations that refuse to publicly affirm support for LGBTQIA+ desires must be “canceled”—ostracized, isolated, punished, re-educated. Christians, in particular, are a nuisance. They continue to believe in Creation as told in Scripture. They believe every person has intrinsic value as created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). That’s why they just will not shut up about the injustice of abortion.

Christians insist that God created us male and female (Genesis 1:27, Matthew 19:4) and that God instituted marriage and the family as a foundational institution (Genesis 2:24) that reflects the most sacred relationship between Christ and His Bride, the Church (Ephesians 5:31,32). They dare to promote that children honor both their mother and father (Exodus 20:12, Ephesians 6:2). They insist on loving God above all and neighbors as themselves (Mark 12:30,31). They even believe their help of the poor is akin to serving Christ himself (Matthew 25:40).

This is intolerable. Well, it’s been tolerable for 200 years, but no more. When the Liberal Elites got wind (through a newspaper report) that CSS would not certify same-sex couples to be foster parents due to its religious convictions, they decided to kick them off the state’s programs designed to help needy children. …

For America (Day 123)

By | LBB, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

In our distress we cry out to You, Lord,
For You hear our prayers.
We stand at the door and knock,
Confident that You will open.

Not to excuse our unfaithfulness,
But to receive us in Your grace
Upon the confession of our sin,
Bidding us to turn from our wicked ways.

We extol You for your goodness and patience.
Our hearts burst with the songs of thanksgiving!
Give us understanding, Father, give us wisdom,
According to Your Word, generously and without reproach.

Restore in us the spiritual tastebuds that
Appreciate the sweetness of Your statutes.
All Your commandments are righteous and good.
They bring life. Peace and joy are its fruit.

May Your hand become our help and rest,
We choose to trust in You, instead of our frantic work.
Help our fellow countryman to value Your ways,
Grant us to see, collectively, that there is no other way.

That Your Law may be our delight is our plight.
For we all as sheep have gone astray;
We know we have lost our way,
And turn to You, Good Shepherd, to guide us again.

Your ways alone are just.
We pray against those who promise
The sort of justice that enslaves,
We pray their self-aggrandizing schemes fail.

We pray for those who get caught up in their ways.
Have mercy, O God, and help us to be there,
Once the deceivers find no use for them and abandons them,
Let Your body delight in that restorative work.

For we are not without hope.
None are beyond Your Love, O God.
There is power in Your Word,
There is power in the blood.

You’ve done it in our lives,
Throughout the ages You have been glorified.
Continue Your work, LORD, in our land.
Glory to God, now and forevermore!

For America (Day 121) – A Memorial Day Prayer

By | LBB, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

Father in Heaven, all glory to You,
Who sent Your Son, Jesus, to die in our stead,
All glory for that sacrifice,
Which opened the way.

It is a reminder, especially today,
That we are to do the same.
And many have indeed given themselves
For their fellow men.

This Memorial Day, Lord,
We want to remember them.
We pray for their families and friends,
Protect them—bless them in every way.

It is a hard road, full of incredible sacrifice,
To give your life to defend a nation such as ours.
To him who much is given, much is required,
And You have given us much.

So, we understand the role we play in the world,
We accept the responsibility that has brought.
We only beg Your leading, even beyond,
What we think best.

Help us to never forget these who fought and bled,
Who experience the trauma of war, and yet
Endured for freedom’s sake
For liberty, for family, for peace in the world.

Help us to not use our freedom to indulge the flesh,
Instead teach us to love each other,
To forgive and strive to see the best
In each other and in the country they served.

Help us to hold on to unity in truth.
As we celebrate this day, help us to reflect,
On the innumerable blessings You gave,
And continues to place on our people and our land.

Keep us safe,
Keep us strong in Your Word,
Trusting in You and You Alone,
In Jesus’ name Amen.

For America (Day 120)

By | LBB, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

We are still to know that You are God,
Father of light and beauty.
We will exalt Your Name this day
And forevermore, wherever we stand.

You are our Fortress and our Shield,
Your love is from everlasting to everlasting.
Forgive our internal distress due to our lack of faith—
Born from the fact that we have taken our eyes away from You.

With the sons of Korah, we declare
That “we will not fear …  though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea”
For You are with us.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, is our Refuge;
Who can withstand His perfect will?
Therefore, we do not fret, complain or grumble;
We trust Your perfect ways.

We do not lose heart—we have hope in Christ,
Though evildoers celebrate in the city gates,
Saying they have prevailed in their warped ways,
We fight with renewed vigor each new day.

We know our labor in You is not in vain;
Your Word does not come back empty, but
Will accomplish the purposes for which You have sent it.
And You have sent us—keep us focused and grounded.

Help us see that which is good and true, honorable and praiseworthy,
Just and inspiring, commendable and excellent,
All the love You have poured out for us, Lord. Help us to see
Help us remember it daily.

Unite Your body, Father God,
Help us to fight together,
To speak with one voice
Proclaiming Your never changing Truth.

With courage and compassion,
Help us to be faithful to Your plan
In all areas of our lives.
In Jesus, Amen.

California Just Doesn’t Get It

By | Briefs, Case Vault, Legal, News and Events, SCOTUS | No Comments

They know it is wrong. You have told them it is wrong. But our kids do it anyway, don’t they? Of course, we know once caught, they promise they will never do it again. Ever. They promise they get it, but you walk away from the conversation thinking, “They don’t get it.”

That was the feeling one got from the state of California after hearing oral arguments this week in two significant First Amendment cases before the United States Supreme Court: Americans for Prosperity Foundation v. Bonta and Thomas More Law Center v. Bonta.

The cases challenge California’s effort to force all non-profits that solicit support in the state to disclose to the government sensitive information about their major donors.

Although the state recognizes the glaring constitutional burdens on individual rights to freedom of speech and association, it still claims it needs the private information to guard against fraud. Besides, the state promises to keep the information super confidential.

Only they haven’t. As Justice Elena Kagan pointed out during oral arguments, the district court that heard the evidence in this case found that “there was a pervasive, recurring pattern of inadvertent disclosure by California.” In other words, they promise to keep the donor information private, but they don’t. They leak them intentionally or by error, ensuring, as the court also found, that “donors would likely be subject to threats and harassment.”

So, what do you do when your child has a pervasive and recurring pattern of misbehavior that endangers others? Do you just need them to promise you (one more time) that they will never do it again? …

For America (Day 117)

By | Defense of Family, Erasing Women, LBB, News and Events, Prayer, Sexual Exploitation | No Comments

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name forever.
With thankful hearts, we behold
Your awesome works from the beginning.

You are Faithful and True
Still moving in the midst of Your people.
Help us fret not for evildoers.
They are like grass withering away.

But Your Word stands forever.
We delight in Your counsel and Your statutes,
We crave to know You more and more,
To increase in faith and trust; this is our goal.

Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ
To be our Savior—to show us the way of salvation.
His example is our encouragement and aim,
Oh, to be more like Him, each and every day.

We stand in the great promises of Scripture.
We delight ourselves in You Lord,
Knowing You will give us the desires of our heart.
Give us righteous desires Abba, Father.

For often we seek after the wrong things
Thinking they will somehow fill the hole in our hearts,
When we know it is a God-shaped hole we bear,
And only living water will ease our thirst.

Lord, we pray for the assault on sexuality
The enemy is leveling against our world.
We pray against the increasing gender confusion,
Against the identity crisis he seeks to create in Your creation.

But our identity is found in Christ,
Let that healing lesson spread among those who hurt today.
Our hearts break for them; do not let the enemy get away
With his schemes to establish a lie as a foundational truth in their lives.

Let the truth that You are our Creator shine ever so brightly.
May we commit our ways to You, Lord,
For we know You will act. And You are good!
You are God.

In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen.

For America (Day 115)

By | LBB, Prayer | No Comments

Oh Lord, my God,
We have heard of Your mighty deeds of old.
How You parted the Red Sea, closed the mouths of lions;
How You send fire from heaven and won mighty battles.

We know of Your great name,
We know that trust in human strength or intellect is foolish.
We know we do not save ourselves,
Just like we did not create ourselves.

Victory is commanded by You,
Carried out by Your servants—the seen and unseen.
It is in Your name and to Your glory that history is written.
In You we boast all day.

But You lovingly allow Your judgment to reach us, too.
You let shame do its repentant work in us,
And allow us to discover the pain and solitude
Of trusting in the things of this world.

Forgive us, Oh Lord,
And be quick to come to our aid.
Restore the joy of our salvation in our hearts.
Restore the pursuit of righteousness in our land.

Help us to thirst for justice and peace,
For goodness and beauty, for what is noble and true.
Help us to seek after holiness.
Revive our churches and our communities.

We will not turn our backs on You,
We stand in Your covenant love for us.
You have broken us, and we say only, “amen.”
Thy will be done, Oh God.

You know the state of our hearts,
You know how the world hates us,
As they hated You, just as You said they would,
We are pressed on every side.

But You have promised to never leave us or forsake us.
In this we trust, arise Lord and show Your deeds again.
Let those who stand against You cower in fear.
Arise and help your people. Redeem us, for Your mercies’ sake.

Amen.

Rejecting the Idolatry of Safety with Faith and Faithfulness

By | LBB, Legal, News and Events, Religious Liberty, SCOTUS | No Comments

As in the time of Babylon, there are those in power today who, like King Nebuchadnezzar, demand we bow down to an image. It is not a golden image, to be sure, but it is an image, nonetheless. It is the image of safety—the image of security.

The two weeks to stop the spread of COVID-19 has turned into an indefinite violation of our civil liberties. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently said that “Even after you’re vaccinated, social distancing, wearing masks are going to be essential.”

“Essential” is a crucial word. You see, for the government, wearing a mask and social distancing is essential to public health, but faith is not. Despite mountains of evidence showing how important the church community is, they insist on unconstitutionally limiting the free exercise of religion.

Friday night, the United States Supreme Court issued an injunction on California’s draconian restrictions on indoor activities for houses of worship, affirming the churches challenging the restrictions are likely to prevail on the merits of the case. That means that the restrictions are likely to be found in violation of the First Amendment.

This is good news, but it was not enough. The Court denied the appeal for an injunction “with respect to the percentage capacity limitations,” and “with respect to the prohibition on singing and chanting during indoor services.”

At least two justices recognized that those are likely also to be violations of our religious liberties. Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch would have granted the injunction in full. Justice Samuel Alito also would have gone a lot further, giving the state 30 days to prove that “nothing short of those measures will reduce the community spread of COVID–19 at indoor religious gatherings to the same extent as do the restrictions the State enforces with respect to other activities it classifies as essential.”

Chief Justice Roberts concurred that “the State’s present determination—that the maximum number of adherents who can safely worship in the most cavernous cathedral is zero—appears to reflect not expertise or discretion, but instead insufficient appreciation or consideration of the interests at stake.” But he also unexplainably concluded, “that singing indoors poses a heightened risk of transmitting COVID–19.” The evidence of this does not come even close to withstand judicial review.

Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barret said the record was insufficient to make such a determination on singing, saying, “[I]f a chorister can sing in a Hollywood studio but not in her church, California’s regulations cannot be viewed as neutral,” which, of course, is precisely what the government has done time and again.

Black Lives Matter riots, good; religious gatherings, bad. Thanksgiving dinner for regular folk, really bad, but indoor dinner for liberal elites, completely fine. You get the picture.

When the government is trying to impose its power, there are always those who will point to the Christians and chastise them for not bowing down to the image of the age. In the times of King Nebuchadnezzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego defied the edict to bow down to the golden image, and they were brought before the king to be thrown into the fiery furnace.

Such is the case today. Churches are being forced all the way to the Supreme Court to fight for their religious freedoms. They ought to have a lot more support from the American public as a whole. They ought to have overwhelming support from the body of Christ— the Church at large.

But the threat of the fiery furnace is compelling to those who have their eyes set on the things of the world. Cancel culture today is an incredible incentive to comply with the Spirit of the Age.

We should learn from Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego and stand against it. Remember what they told King Nebuchadnezzar as they were about to be “canceled” by the fiery furnace? “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up” (Daniel 3:16-18).

Faith and faithfulness, that is how they pushed back against the evil in their time. Faith that God can and would deliver them from the hands of evildoers, but also the faithfulness to say, “even if He doesn’t, we will not bow down.”

That is exactly how we must fight today. We must be courageous in the face of evil. Trusting God and remaining faithful until the end.

For America (Day 112) – A Prayer Amidst Covid-19

By | Blog, Prayer | No Comments

Blessed is the man, and nation, who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways, and remembers His statutes
Even and especially in uncertain times.
It shall be well with them.

For uncertain times are only uncertain to us.
You, O God know and see all,
By Your power, all things were created and are sustained.
You are the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end.

In You we trust, that is our motto.
Therefore, to You we pray.
We pray earnestly, with thanksgiving,
Asking You to protect our families and our nation.

Indeed, we pray for all peoples being affected
By the rapid spread of COVID-19.
Be merciful, O God, give us wisdom
And give us Your favor.

We pray for those in the health community
Who have to face this virus head-on
At great risk to them and their families;
Guide them and protect them.

Give us tender hearts to attend
To the needs of our neighbors;
Help us to love as You have called us to do.
Blot out our selfish ways and let compassion spread.

We pray for the most vulnerable among us,
For the elderly who are most at risk during this threat.
“A gray head is a crown of glory,” the proverb says.
Help us to treasure them in a special way.

Father God, above all, this virus reminds us that
We are not gods; we did not create ourselves,
We stand in Your mercy, in shame
For the many times we act as if we are in control.

Forgive us, and teach us, we pray.
Open our hearts that we may receive
Your mercy and grace
For the days ahead.

In Jesus name,
Amen
