Concerned Women for America Prayer Warriors Intercede for our Nation in Light of Impeachment Vote

By | Legislative Updates, News and Events, Press Releases | No Comments

Washington, D.C.— The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to pass articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump. Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America (CWA), the largest public policy organization for women in the nation, had this to say:

“CWA women from around the country are praying for our nation and for those who voted to impeach President Trump. Our members know it must be incredibly hard and frustrating for these representatives to see a president they despise so much succeed in such historic ways.

Liberals have tried everything to bring President Trump down, and yet he continues to deliver for the American people. Our country is thriving under a strong economy with historic low unemployment rates. The president has delivered on life, religious liberty, support for families, prison reform, support for Israel, and, our favorite, the appointment of constitutional judges, among so many other accomplishments.

Meanwhile, the impeachment machine opposing him has been reduced to a sad display of the most venomous and disingenuous political theater, as we saw in the House vote today. This maliciously partisan impeachment process is the perfect example of everything that is wrong in our politics. It has been a travesty of justice, and it will forever be a stain on the record of the members who turned a blind eye to truth for political gain.

House Democrats have just voted to impeach a duly elected president with zero evidence of a crime or misdemeanor being committed—let alone a “high crime or misdemeanor.”

But their efforts will not succeed. The constitutional checks and balances set up by our Founding Fathers were put in place to prevent just this type of abuse of power and perversion of justice. Bipartisan opposition standing for truth should be commended. History will remember kindly their heroic efforts to preserve our constitutional standards.”

CWA Applauds Final Passage of Debbie Smith Act

CWA Applauds Final Passage of Debbie Smith Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Last night the U.S. Senate completed action on a 5-year reauthorization of the Debbie Smith Act, a vital program first enacted in 2004 to help states and localities end the backlog of untested DNA evidence, specifically sexual assault kits.

Before final passage this week, Sen Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) credited the work of CWA saying, “ I want to thank Penny Nance of Concerned Women for America, who testified at my invitation at last year’s Judiciary Committee hearing, for suggesting certain changes to ensure that the analysis of sexual assault evidence is accorded a higher priority by grantees. This statutory reform is essential, because most states impose a statutory deadline by which crimes of sexual violence must be prosecuted.  Changes suggested by her organization, for which I have advocated since 2016, were incorporated into the Debbie Smith Act reauthorization bill by the Senate sponsor, Sen. Cornyn, with my support.  The House of Representatives also accepted these changes this year.”

Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee issued the following statement in response:

“Thank you, Sens. Chuck Grassley and John Cornyn (R-Texas) for working with Concerned Women for America and leading the effort to prioritize DNA testing for victims of sexual assault in the Debbie Smith Act.  As I testified before the Senate last year, every rape kit represents a brave woman waiting for justice.

“After 15 years of the Debbie Smith Act and nearly $1 billion spent, most states still don’t know how many rape kits remain untested. We must do better. Victims of sexual assault deserve to know that every kit is accounted for and every last one is processed. With our improvements, this 5-year reauthorization will move us closer to the goal of ending the rape-kit backlog.

“Concerned Women for America applauds Congress for passing these important improvements to the Debbie Smith Act and looks forward to President Trump adding his signature to enact this reauthorization into law.”

Concerned Women for America (LAC) Condemns House Judiciary Committee Impeachment Vote

By | House Legislative Updates, Legislative Updates, News and Events, Press Releases | No Comments

Today, the House Judiciary Committee approved both articles of impeachment against President Trump.

Penny Nance, President and CEO of Concerned Women for America LAC, has this to say:

The 23 members approving of this malicious partisan impeachment vote have done great damage to our country today. Concerned Women for America (CWA) supporters from around the country are praying that enough Democrats would stand up to this disingenuous, politically motivated abuse of power to remove a duly elected president without proper justification. They have sought out any and every justification to impeach President Trump since the very moment he took his oath of office. Each and every time they have come up empty. The American people will not forget their disgrace.

CWA LAC Applauds Trump Executive Order to Combat Anti-Semitism and BDS on College Campuses

By | News and Events, Press Releases, Religious Issues, Social / Cultural Issues | No Comments

President Trump will combat anti-Semitism on college campuses by signing an executive order enabling the government to withhold federal funds from universities allowing anti-Semitic activity. This order recognizes anti-Semitism as discrimination against Jews as a race or based on national origin, not only as a religious group, and a violation of U.S. Civil Rights. Concerned Women for America’s hundreds of thousands of members are excited for this action in support of our Jewish friends.

Penny Nance, President and CEO of Concerned Women for America LAC, has this to say:

“Thank you, President Trump, for targeting the rise of anti-Semitism by enforcing the internationally recognized definition of anti-Semitism on college campuses. It is time we fight the discriminatory double standards held against Israel at far too many of our institutions of higher-education. This is a significant victory against discrimination as anti-Semitism increases in the U.S. and abroad.

Until this time, bi-partisan legislation on this issue, despite widespread support, has been unable to pass through Congress. It is necessary we take the appropriate steps to incorporate the internationally recognized definition of anti-Semitism into our education system. No longer can universities promote anti-Semitism from their ivory towers. Academia should be better.

Kelly Loeffler Wrong Choice for Georgia

By | Georgia, News and Events, Press Releases | No Comments

Joint statement from Penny Nance, President and CEO of Concerned Women for America, and Tanya Ditty, Vice President of Field Operations and former CWA Georgia State Director:

“Governor Kemp needs to know Kelly Loeffler would be the wrong choice for conservatives in Georgia and supporters of President Trump on several fronts. She sits on the board of a hospital in Atlanta that employs five abortionists and actually runs the largest training program for abortionists in Georgia. She is also part owner of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream franchise. The WNBA has been an outspoken supporter of Planned Parenthood, even partnering with the pro-abortion organization in opposing President Trump’s pro-life policies. Likewise the WNBA has remained disturbingly silent about China’s persecution of the citizens of Hong Kong, even after an NBA general manager courageously spoke out about it. Ms. Loeffler also sits on the board of a psychiatric treatment facility that provides transgender affirming counsel to minors. Likewise she has given thousands of dollars in campaign contributions to liberal and pro-abortion candidates. There are better choices for Gov. Kemp when it comes to the next U.S. Senator from Georgia. Gov. Kemp has a list of fantastic pro-life candidates. We hope he doesn’t pick the one the pro-life community will have to oppose.”

Encourage and Pray – Now more than ever!

By | Virginia | No Comments

Just this week, my Bible study has been in the book Esther. How appropriate.  Esther 4:14 says, “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”  We are royalty, and our father is the KING! He has positioned us at this time to do incredible things for His kingdom’s purposes, and I cannot think of anything more powerful and more honoring to our Lord than to pray for our elected officials.

We are calling on all past, present, and new Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) volunteers to gear up for the upcoming 2020 General Assembly session that begins January 8 and volunteer to prayer for a legislator.   You are necessary, and you are needed. Our elected officials need to know that people like you and me – who understand the power of prayer and what a refreshing word does for the soul – will be praying for them.

The goal of the EAL program is to encourage each member of the State House and Senate, by praying for them regularly and sending them a postcard each week throughout the legislative session.  Our goal is to cover all those “in authority” in Virginia – 100 House members and 40 Senate members. The EAL program is never used to lobby and, therefore, is never confrontational. It is simply a great way to lift up those in authority and encourage them in their responsibilities.

Click here for more details about the EAL program.

Sign up today to be an encourager—it couldn’t be easier! Sign up by simply giving Janet Stasulli, CWA of Virginia’s Encourage-A-Legislator Coordinator, a call at (434) 525-6705 or email her at [email protected] and provide her with your name and physical mailing address.  Be sure to specify how many legislators you would like to encourage. She will be happy to enlist you as an encourager and send you a packet of postcards and instructions, which you will receive late December.

The late Reverend Arthur Hopkins said this about prayer, “Our prayer and God’s mercy are like two buckets in a well; while one ascends, the other descends.” So, let’s storm the gates of heaven on behalf of our state leaders. Let’s let our “petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior …” 1 Timothy 2:1-3.

Please tell me YES – that you are willing to pray for eight weeks for a legislator!  We need all hands on deck.

It’s Election Day: Pray and Vote!

By | Virginia | No Comments
Dear Fellow Virginians,

Today is a critical day in Virginia. Voters go the polls to elect their Delegate and Senator and other important down-ballot races. Throughout the day, would you please pray for the following:

Pray for God’s hedge of protection over our nation, even during the election.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Psalm 91:9-12

Pray that the election process—personnel and voting equipment—will perform with honesty and integrity.
Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity. Use honest scales and honest weights … Leviticus 19:35-36

Pray that God’s will be done, our state be blessed with Godly and principled leaders, and His name be glorified.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Romans 13:1

Our votes and prayers do matter. Please do both today!

Thank you,

Tomorrow’s Election Prayer Point

By | Virginia | No Comments

Dear Fellow Virginians,

Tomorrow Virginians will cast a very important vote in our commonwealth’s history. The candidates couldn’t be more different in their positions on crucial moral issues. As the battle escalates over infanticide, liberal indoctrination on Virginia college campuses, transgender policies, the shredding of religious freedoms, and the expansion of government-sanctioned gambling, we need strong officials in our House of Delegates and State Senate to defend us. We need courageous leaders to stand up to the war against our Constitution. We need God’s divine intervention. Our help must come from God.

Please commit to pray now and until all ballots have been counted. Please add anything else the Lord may lay on your heart.Prayer and Scripture focus for Monday, November 4:
Dear Heavenly Father, please shine Your favor on Your candidates. Help voters to see the truth. Give all Christ-honoring candidates Your victory. Amen.

For great is Your love, higher than the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, let Your glory be over all the earth. With God we will gain the victory… Psalm 108:4,5,13

The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for His inheritance. Psalm 33:10-12

Virginia Elections: Friday Prayer Point and Pray at Your Polling Place

By | Virginia | No Comments
Dear Fellow Virginians,
When the ancient Israelites entered the Promised Land, their first obstacle was the great walled city of Jericho. As Joshua and the men prepared to conquer the city, God gave them a clear battle strategy. They were to walk around the great city once a day for six days without speaking one word. On the final day, they silently circled the city seven times. What went through the minds of these untrained warriors as they only heard the tramping feet of their fellow countrymen? Did they hear taunts from above as Jericho citizens jeered? They saw the great wall up close. Did they tremble in fear at the overwhelming size of this fortress city? Did they feel outnumbered and unprepared? How many realized that their only hope for victory would be from God? During the silent trek, how many called out to God in prayer? How many asked Him to do the impossible?Today, we need God to do the impossible for us. We too have the opportunity to call out to Him and ask Him to give us a fair election. May He crumble our opponents like He crumbled the walls of Jericho!

Strategy, prayer and Scripture focus for Friday, November 1:
Here’s a simple strategy: On or before the evening of November 4 (preferably before dark), go to your local polling precinct (fill in the information on the form to locate your polling location). Take a few like-minded friends and march around the building or grounds. Pray out loud or silently asking God to make sure no fraud will succeed in the precinct the next day. Pray for only a fair vote to come from the precinct. Below are a few requests. Please feel free to add whatever God lays on your heart. (If you can’t make it to your polling place on or before November 5, please pray at a convenient time as often as you can.)

Prayer while at your polling place:
Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up this polling place. We pray there will be no tampering with machines, ballots, or any confusion causing voters to mis-vote. We pray any attempts at fraud would fail and/or be caught. We ask that all ballots cast would be fair ballots. Help voters not to be deceived but to see the whole truth. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers. Proverbs 21:15

Virginia Elections: Thursday Prayer Point

By | Virginia | No Comments
Dear Fellow Virginians,
Election Day is getting close.  As we prepare ourselves to vote and elect the members of our Commonwealth legislature, we should never lose track of the number one objective as we pray for our leaders.  Our role as citizens is very simply stated for us in II Timothy 2:24-26,

“The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to each, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil having been held captive by him to do his will.”
As we pray for the election results, let us also pray for the hearts and souls of all of those who govern us, and let us pray that we will put in right standing with our God.

Create in me a clean heart O Lord and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

Daniel 9 records Daniel’s powerful prayer for the nation of Israel. Pray this prayer substituting the United States for Israel. Confess our national sins of abortion, sexual sins, drugs, alcohol, gambling, apathy, and rebellion against God, etc.

  • “Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, we have sinned, and committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from your commandments and ordinances.”  Daniel 9:4-5
  • “Open shame belongs to us, O Lord, to our kings, our princes and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.” Daniel 9:8
  • “So now, O God, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his supplications, and for Your sake, O Lord, let Your face shine on Your desolate sanctuary.”  Daniel 9: 17

Virginia Elections: Wednesday Prayer Point

By | Virginia | No Comments

Dear Fellow Virginians,

In 1776, the most influential man in the little town of Lexington was a parson by the name of Jonas Clark. On the night Paul Revere made his famous ride, Parson Clark was having dinner with John Hancock and Samuel Adams. These two great patriots asked Clark the question: If war came, would the men of Lexington fight? Rev. Clark replied that he had trained them for that very hour. The next day, the “shot heard ’round the world” was fired only a few yards from his parsonage.

[Our liberty] began in a church—with a parson not afraid to speak out on the great issues of freedom and tyranny. The resounding sermons preached by “the Black Regiment” (named because of the black robes the clergy wore at the time), of which Clark was a part, set the stage for the liberty of America.

The outcome of next week’s election could profoundly impact religious freedom in the Commonwealth, both in and outside our places of worship. Hostility toward pastors and Christians is on the rise, and freedom of conscience and expression are under assault. Because of this, it is critical that church leadership encourages its members to vote on November 5.

Prayer and Scripture focus for Wednesday, October 30:
Churches can make a tremendous difference in government and public policy by helping the members of their congregations be informed, responsible citizens. Pray that pastors will encourage their people to vote knowledgeably and seek the Lord’s wisdom for whom to vote.

“Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” – Proverbs 3:15

Virginia Elections: Tuesday Prayer Point

By | Virginia | No Comments

Dear Fellow Virginians,

Few opportunities come to individuals to make an eternal impact with profound current significance.  Prayer is just such an opportunity.  In the life of America, beginning May 14, 1607, in Jamestown, Virginia, under a sail converted to an awning, Christians have turned to God to guide and strengthen them.  Even more today, most Americans depend on our God to shield and defend us.  This prayer guide is presented as a tool for individuals and groups to use as they ask Him for wisdom and courage to return America to the precepts of God on which it was founded through those whom we elect.  Our thanks to Harvest Prayer Ministries for this great prayer guide, How to Pray for an Election.

Prayer and Scripture focus for Tuesday, October 29:
Pray that Christians will turn out and vote knowledgeably. Pray that voters will research, consider wisely, and seek counsel on the candidates for whom they will vote.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

Concerned Women for America Partners with Women’s Liberation Front to Stand Up for Women and Girls

By | Feminist / Women's Issues, News and Events, Press Releases, SCOTUS | No Comments

Washington, D.C. – The conservative public policy women’s organization, Concerned Women for America (CWA) is partnering with the self-proclaimed radical feminists’ organization, Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF) to Stand Up and Speak Out against injustice for women and girls. These two groups represent hundreds of thousands of women across the country who will be victimized if the Supreme Court redefines the word “sex” to include “gender identity” in R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes Inc. v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

“To arbitrarily change the word ‘sex’ to include gender identity is regressive, not progressive,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWA. “It would greatly undermine the women’s movement and the women who dedicated their lives to see the advancements we enjoy today,” she continued. “It’ll be a rough day for freedom of speech and conscience if the Supreme Court rules that we can all be compelled to lie about sex,” added Natasha Chart, Board Chair of the Women’s Liberation Front.

Together, CWA and WoLF are hosting a rally on the steps of the Supreme Court to highlight speakers who will share story after story of how they are the true victims of the determined political activism over “gender identity.” Examples include women athletes who can no longer compete in their sports, women who have been assaulted in formerly safe places that excluded males, scientists who have been fired for presenting factual science publicly, and former transgender individuals who have now detransitioned. The rally will be held, Tuesday, October 8, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET at the Supreme Court of the United States located at 1 First Street NE, Washington, DC 20543.

CWA of Virginia Recommends These Two Events

By | Virginia | No Comments

There is a disturbing trend happening in many of the Northern Virginia school districts. Most recently, the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) school board has been making policy changes that expose our children and our neighbors’ children to sexually explicit materials and inappropriate and dangerous situations.

“Gender Identity” Policy Alert
In May 2015, the FCPS school board added “gender identity” to its nondiscrimination policy (Policy 1450) which opened the door for students to use restrooms and locker rooms of the sex for which they identify rather than their biological sex. FCPS allows principals and administrators to make decisions about accommodating transgender students’ bathroom and locker room usage on a case-by-case basis. Students are given no advance notice if a student of a different biological sex will be using the same facilities that they use.

Sexually Explicit Curriculum Alert
Parents should also be aware of troubling content in Family Life Education (FLE), Fairfax County’s sex ed curriculum. In ninth grade, students are taught that “gender assigned at birth” may be different than one’s biological sex. One eighth grade lesson mentions anal sex four times. A fifth grade lesson refers to needle sharing and sexually transmitted diseases. Parents can opt their students out of FLE. However, they are often unaware of the content, trusting that their school system is teaching age-appropriate content to their children.

Even if parents do opt their students out of Family Life Education, their students may still be exposed to sexually graphic material. Assigned high school English literature sometimes includes passages containing bestiality, incest, pedophilia, and gang rape. Book titles may be listed in a syllabus, but teachers are not required to inform parents when students will be reading books with this inappropriate content.

Action Items:

  • Contact your school to find out how to opt your student(s) out of FLB.
  • Ask your school the process for checking out copies of student-assigned textbooks so you can review the content.
  • Consider attending one or both of the CWA of Virginia recommended events listed below. These events will help educate parents and communities about what is happening in our public schools, specifically in Fairfax County.
  • Vote your values and vote in the November 5 school board elections.

Event: Parents Beware: What Fairfax County Public School Board has in store for your child

Tuesday, October 22 in Burke

Pray
Please pray for the parents and children of Fairfax County that the Lord will give them extraordinary discernment. Please pray for Fairfax County School Board members by name.

Thank you in advance for both your prayers and actions concerning this issue.
