Time to Sign up for the 2019-2020 Encourage-A-Legislator Program

By | Maine | No Comments

Dear friends,

We thank God for our wonderful volunteers who facilitate our Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) project every year. Some of you have been with us from the beginning.

If you have not participated in our EAL Program in the past, know that this program is focused solely on prayer and encouragement to our state legislators. Starting the second week in January of 2019 our EAL participants simply pray for an assigned legislator every day that they are in session and send a postcard once a month to their assigned legislator with encouraging words letting them know that they are being prayed for each day. This is not a lobbying effort but a ministry to the legislators. Whether a legislator is a believer, non-believer, conservative, liberal, democrat, republican, independent, or other, they are in desperate need of prayer.

Each year, we recruit over 186 volunteers to help us out with our EAL program, and this year we are asking if they will be willing to keep and pray for their Legislator for the entire legislative session. The 129th session runs from January through June 2019 and reconvenes January through April 2020. Will you volunteer for this inspiring ministry?

Once signed up, participants receive a packet near the end of December. The packet includes instructions, the name, and biography of their assigned legislator, and 10 CWA of Maine EAL postcards.

Year after year, we receive many letters of appreciation from the legislators expressing their gratitude for the many postcards of prayer and encouragement they received.

Sign up today by e-mailing me at [email protected] or call me at (207) 212-9394. I will need your name, address, phone number, and how many legislators you would like to encourage.

Please forward this on to friends and family whom you think may be interested in participating.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Praying along with you,

Catherine Carsley

This Feisty & Feminine Workshop will be on the status of human trafficking in Hawaii. It will include how to recognize it and what to do. We are honored to have Naomi Whitney, who is a member of an anti-sex trafficking group called Hoʻōla Nā Pua (hoolanapua.org) based on Oahu with members and various people involved on the other Islands as well.  Naomi is one of the main contacts here on the Big Island for this organization.

Light refreshments will be served.

If desired, for a $20 donation, attendees will receive both a Feisty & Feminine book and a CWA membership.

CWA of North Dakota Supports Judge Kavanaugh

By | North Dakota | No Comments

The message from conservative women to Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota) is clear, Support Judge Brett Kavanaugh; he is worthy to be confirmed as the next justice to the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaugh has been vetted by the FBI six times during 25 years of public service! Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California) has kept a confidential letter to herself since July. The timing is no coincidence. This is a shameful political move to postpone the confirmation of Kavanaugh.

Enough. We must ask Sen. Heitkamp, with whom do you stand? Will you speak up against this last-minute ambush to derail a respectable nominee without evidence and against an avalanche of examples of his good character?  If not, what does this say about your opinion of our American way, innocent until proven guilty?

Note my recent letter to the editor posted today in the The Bismarck Tribune, Time to vote on Kavanaugh.

Note Penny’s appearance last night on Fox’s Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Please join me in prayer:

  1. “If my people, who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14
  1. Pray for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, his family, and for our Senators.  Pray for the Women for Kavanaugh Rally taking place on Thursday, September 27, behind the Russell Building in Washington, D.C., at 8:30 a.m.
  1. Pray and fast tomorrow before and during the hearing. View Penny’s encouragement to us to do so.

Please take action:

  1. Call Sen. Heitkamp and ask her to support Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Call her at 202- 224-2043 and then email her.  Ask her to vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh.  Take time to do this now, even if you’ve done it in the past on this issue, she needs to know that as women we still support Kavanaugh.  You can be sure she is getting hammered from the other side. Be sure to let her know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of North Dakota.
  2. Call Sen. Hoeven (R-North Dakota), thank him for his support for Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Call him at 202-224-2551 and then email him.  You can be sure he is getting hammered from the other side. Be sure to let him know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of North Dakota.
  3. Forward this email to friends and family. Ask them to both pray and act.

The Dangers of Decriminalizing Minor Prostitution

By | Iowa | No Comments

In recent years, the issue of human trafficking has become illuminated in the public eye. As a result, various groups are directing their efforts towards minors and attempting to decriminalize minor prostitution which is deeply concerning. Though we understand the desire not to punish any victim, without an arrest the unintended consequences are harmful to minors.  Possibilities for rescue, and much needed rehabilitation and recovery opportunities are significantly diminished.

CWA has worked to expose and end sexual exploitation and trafficking since the 1990’s.  This vast experience enables us to separate feel good measures from those that are actually detrimental.

Unintended Consequences:

  • Without an arrest and the intervening of the justice system, there is no opportunity to remove a minor from their situation.
  • Law enforcement loses their authority to arrest and hold minors being prostituted; sending them back to their pimps, gangs, and dangers of the streets.
  • Increases the target on minors, who are already a high-priced commodity in the sex trade.
  • Makes it easier for pimps and gangs to entice minors to recruit other minors into prostitution under the guise that they will not be arrested.
  • Courts lose the ability to offer much needed rehab and counseling in lieu of sentencing.

Please Encourage Sens. Thune and Rounds to Continue Their Support for Judge Kavanaugh

By | South Dakota | No Comments

Dear Friend,

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12)

What sets CWA apart from other organizations? It is our emphasis on prayer and action at the grassroots.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord … and who labors fervently in prayer. The greatest force for change on behalf of our families and country is indeed prayer and the responsibilities that come with our citizenship in a free country. All the resources of God Almighty are at our disposal, and He rules in all the affairs of men, and nothing is too hard for Him.

Stop Now, Pray and Act
Pray: Pray for our U.S. Senators. Pray for Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Chairman, Senate Judiciary Committee and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), Senate Majority Leader. Pray that the schemes of those attempting to discredit Judge Kavanaugh would be thwarted. Pray for the Senate as a whole, may Judge Brett Kavanaugh be confirmed.

“The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. The heart of the wise inclines to the right but the heart of the fool to the left. Even as he walks along the road, the fools lack sense” (Ecclesiastes 9:17- 10:3a).

The Bible tells us “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).

The armor of our warfare hangs on prayer and is activated by prayer. “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18).

Act: Contact our Sens. John Thune (R) and Marion Rounds (R) and urge their continued support for Judge Kavanaugh.

God bless you for your prayer and action,

Time to Pray and Act on Behalf of Judge Kavanaugh

By | Hawaii | No Comments

Dear friend,

Balance between both prayer and action is vital for all believers.  James speaks of this when commending heroes of the faith, “You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone,” (James 2:24). Let us keep this in mind as we consider the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

Time to Pray and Act on Behalf of Judge Kavanaugh
The circus continues with regards to the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U. S. Supreme Court.  As you know, his opponents continue to promote confusion and hysteria about Judge Kavanaugh’s character day after day.

CWA CEO and President Penny Nance wrote about Christine Blasey Ford’s recent accusation against Kavanaugh in USA Today: Kavanaugh, too? Christine Blasey Ford’s Account is Missing Key Details of Assault.

Our own U.S. Senator and Judicial Committee member Mazie Hirono (D) has been outrageous in this process, demanding, “men of this country and the men in this committee” need to “just shut up and step up.” This is unacceptable! CWA’s Doreen Denny, Director of Government Relations, had a great comeback to Hirono’s comments, Sen. Hirono Should Step Up for Justice.  (Note that since the writing of this article a date of this Thursday has been set for the accuser to testify.)

Please continue to contact Sens. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) about this nomination, despite their public statements of opposition to Kavanaugh.  Just as with nominations to lower courts, the opposition is attempting to obstruct this nomination by using delay tactics.  If our senators don’t hear from us and only hear from the other side of the debate, they’ll be able to say that we don’t appear to care or have given up on this nomination. Please do not give them reason to oppose President Trump’s second nominee to our highest court in the land.

If you don’t do it, who will?

Take Action:

  • Call and email both of our Hawaii Senators Brian Schatz (D) and Mazie Hirono (D), and politely ask them to confirm the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Hawaii.

Sen Schatz: email and call 202-224-3934 (D.C.) or 808-523-2061 (Hawaii)

Sen. Hirono: email and call 202-224-6361 (D.C.) or 808-522-8970 (Hawaii) As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, please ask Sen. Hirono to both vote for the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh as committee member as well as when it goes to the Senator floor for a vote.

  • Please send this e-alert to friends and family and also encourage them to both pray and act.

Please Pray: “Dear Father, thank You for Your mercy on our nation. We pray right now that You will lead the senators to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court to continue that mercy. Help us thirst for justice and remember its true meaning. Forgive us for perverting it and seeking our own prideful ways, instead of what is truly good and true. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Do You Want to Conduct a Voter Registration Drive at Your Church?

By | Missouri | No Comments

On November 6, we will each have the opportunity to vote for those who best represent our views at the county, state and federal levels. As Christians we want individuals holding public office who will make decisions regarding laws and public policy that build the family, not tear it down. The election ballot in November will have both candidates and issues on it that will need careful consideration by we who want to protect the unborn, definition of the family, religious rights and more.

Deuteronomy 1:13 says, “Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads.”  May we make every effort to do the same.

Have you moved since the last time you voted? Or, have you never registered to vote? No problem! You simply need to do so by October 11 in order to vote on Tuesday, November 6.  Click here to do. Mark November 6 on your calendar.

Are you ready to go a step farther?  Are you ready to make an impact beyond yourself?  Please encourage your pastor to allow you to hold a voter registration drive in your church so the members are both encouraged and ready to vote on November 6. The IRS guidelines indicate that a church may sponsor or conduct a nonpartisan voter registration.

Concerned Women for America of Missouri has prepared a free Voter Registration Drive packet for our members and friends. The packet includes instructions and materials on how to conduct a voter registration drive as well as the materials needed. We suggest churches host voter registrations on the weekends of September 29-30 and Oct. 6-7.

Everything you need to coordinate a registration drive is below except for voter cards that you need to order in time to have a September 29-30 and Oct. 6-7 drive.  The link is below, titled “Voter Registration Application Form.”

If you have any questions and/or would like to host a voter registration drive, please contact me.  I am happy to assist.

September 21 Prayer Action Alert – Both Faith and Action

By | Washington | No Comments

Dear Friend,

Balance between both prayer and action is vital for all believers.  James speaks of this when commending heroes of the faith, “You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone,” (James 2:24). Let us keep this in mind as we pray and act on the items in this Prayer Action Alert.

Time to Pray and Act on Behalf of Judge Kavanaugh
The circus continues with regards to the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U. S. Supreme Court.  As you know, his opponents continue to promote confusion and hysteria about Judge Kavanaugh’s character right up to the last minute. Concerned Women for America in Washington, D.C., has thoroughly vetted Judge Kavanaugh and is pleased that President Trump nominated him to this important position. CWA CEO and President Penny Nance wrote about the recent accusation against Kavanaugh in USA Today: Kavanaugh, too? Christine Blasey Ford’s Account is Missing Key Details of Assault. Please continue to contact Sens. Patty Murray (D-Washington) and Maria Cantwell (D-Washington) about this nomination.  Just as with nominations to lower courts, the opposition is attempting to choke this nomination by using delay tactics.  If our senators don’t hear from us and only hear from the other side of the debate, they’ll be able to say that we don’t appear to care or have given up on this nomination. Please do not give them reason to oppose President Trump’s second nominee to our highest court in the land.

If you don’t do it, who will?

  • Call, text, e-mail, and write Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, and politely ask them to confirm the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America. Click here for Sen. Murray’s contact information and here for Sen. Cantwell’s.
  • Please send this e-alert to friends and family, and encourage them to both pray and act.

Amen.”

Voter Registration
Consider taking voter registration forms (check your local library for the forms) to your church and setting them up in an area where you can remind people of the responsibility of Christian citizens to vote.  People can also register online at https://weiapplets.sos.wa.gov/MyVoteOLVR/MyVoteOLVR. The registration deadline for the November 2018 election is Tuesday, October 8.

A Call to Prayer for CWA Members: International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church 2018
On November 4, the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, CWA will join thousands of Christians all over the world in praying for those who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. Will you join and pray with us? As Americans, God has blessed us with a country abounding in prosperity and founded on freedom of religion, belief, and conscience — all of which we enjoy and continue to fiercely defend. But, in our busy and full lives, sometimes we forget that our sisters and brothers in Christ around the world are being persecuted for the same beliefs and endure political, economic, social discrimination, beating, imprisonment, and even tortuous death.

Stand Strong with Kavanaugh

By | California | No Comments

Thank you so much for your commitment to pray and take action on issues affecting California and our nation. Today I ask that you join with me to pray and act on behalf of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. It is imperative that we do all we can for this outstanding nominee, for the sake of our great state. Because California has some of the most liberal laws in the country, Judge Kavanaugh getting confirmed could have a huge impact on pushing back some of our unconstitutional laws.

As you know it is our Senator that caused much of the confusion around which the Senate Judiciary Committee currently finds itself. It of course was Sen. Feinstein (D-California) who brought Christian Blasey Ford’s alleged sexual misconduct against Judge Kavanaugh to the committee only days before they were to vote.  Why didn’t she immediately bring it to their attention when she received it back in July? Why didn’t she ask questions during the appointed questioning and interviewing period? She could have questioned Judge Kavanaugh during her private interview with him, let along during the confirmation hearings, where over 1200 questions were asked of Judge Kavanaugh.

We would never want to overlook, diminish, or accept the abuse of women in any form. As advocates for women we do not condone any male taking advantage of any female.  Yet, the evidence before us is missing key details, therefore making it more than suspect. Ford may have experienced something awful, but not knowing when and where, conflicting details with the notes of her therapist and having never reported the alleged situation to the authorities in over 35 years, makes her account suspicious.

Please take a moment to read CEO and President, Penny Nance’s response in the USA Today: Kavanaugh, too? Christine Blasey Ford’s Account is Missing Key Details of Assault. Plus, watch her on The Ingraham Angel with Laura Ingraham on this issue.

We must wisely take into account the person accused. Judge Kavanaugh has gone through FBI vetting and has a stellar record at work and in his personal life.  Kavanaugh said, “I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. I did not do this back in high school or at any time.”

Until definitive evidence is provable, his impeccable public record of judicial prudence and the preponderance of evidence for his personal integrity requires the continued support of CWA of California for his appointment to the United States Supreme Court.

It is imperative that our Senators know where we stand.  They are getting a lot of kodos for their actions, they need to now hear from us.

Please take action:

Contact both of our Senators.  Respectfully let them know what you think of this situation.  Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.

Sen. Kamala Harris
Sen. Dianne Feinstein

Please pray: Pray for both our senators.  Pray their eyes will be open first and foremost towards the gospel. Pray their schemes to discredit Kavanaugh will be thwarted.  Pray Kavanaugh will be confirmed quickly.

Time to Pray and Act on Behalf of Judge Kavanaugh

By | Illinois | No Comments

Dear Friend,

We are in a spiritual battle for the soul of America!

We are reminded: “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm” (Ephesians 6:10-13).

Attempts by the Democratic Party, the liberal media, and pundits to discredit and thwart the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh increase with the latest being an accusation concerning an alleged sexual misconduct as a teenager.  I would never want to overlook, diminish, or accept the abuse of women in any form. Yet, the evidence before us suggests this accusation just does not fit with the well-attested character of this man. Read Penny Nance’s excellent response to this allegation on usatoday.com, Kavanaugh, Too? Christine Blasey Ford’s Account is Missing Key Details of Assault.)

For the eight years that Obama was in power, the Democratic Party, knowing their agenda and ideology would not pass muster in the legislature, appointed liberal judges to legislate from the bench.  This is one of the main reasons our nation finds itself in such a quandary.

This nation was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles.  It is grounded in truth, and only by adhering to God’s truth will our nation remain free. That is why the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh and the election of conservatives to legislative offices on all levels is so important.  Having an individual that respects the constitution is crucial; it will determine the direction of our country for generations to come.

It’s time to pray.

“Prayer is an effort of will.”  ~ Oswald Chambers

Pray:

  • Pray for our U.S. Senators, Dick Durbin, and Tami Duckworth. Pray that the schemes of those attempting to discredit Kavanaugh would be thwarted. Pray for the Senate as a whole, may Judge Brett Kavanaugh be confirmed.
  • Pray for President Trump and Vice President Pence. Pray that the Spirit will bestow upon them every spiritual gift that is needed to govern our nation.  May they look to God for wisdom, courage and strength.
  • Pray for our legislators. Pray for laws to reflect Biblical principles and follow the intent of the United States Constitution.  For God-given wisdom in legislation and courts. For righteous leaders with integrity.
  • Pray that God’s Will be done in the upcoming elections. Pray for a safe, honest election and that ballots cast will be credited to whom it was intended.  Pray for righteous leaders with integrity to be elected to office.  Pray that Christians will uphold their duty to vote and that they will vote their values, not their party.

It’s time to take action. James speaks of the importance of taking action when commending heroes of the faith, “You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone” (2:24).

Act: Even if you’ve already contacted our U.S. Senators, Dick Durbin (D) and Tami Duckworth (D), be sure to both call and email their offices again today.  Ask them to vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. Let them know that you still support the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh and that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Illinois.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D): email and call (202) 224-2152
Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D): email and call (202) 224-2854

Speak Up for Kavanaugh!

By | Tennessee | No Comments

Dear Friends,

Just two weeks ago, Judge Kavanaugh sat through four intense days of questioning, and he did an outstanding job. Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee had at least two representatives in the room at all times, and we could not have been more impressed. He was steadfast in his dedication to the Constitution and his record as a D.C. Circuit Court Judge speaks for itself.

Judge Kavanaugh came out of his confirmation hearing unscathed. If it wasn’t evident before, his hearing gave no doubts that he is unequivocally qualified to sit on our nation’s highest court. Left with nothing to delay his confirmation, Democrats have turned to a last-ditch effort to defame this outstanding nominee with an unsubstantiated attack from almost 40 years ago.

Judge Kavanaugh has categorically denied it.

During his 25 years of public service, Judge Kavanaugh has been vetted by the FBI six times and never has a red flag been raised. Sen. Feinstein (D-California) kept this information to herself from late July until just now. The timing is not coincidental.

That is why all senators should stand firm in support of Brett Kavanaugh and against any delays. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Arizona) has said he is in favor of delaying the Judiciary Committee vote on Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation. This action will only invite more of these despicable tactics in the future.

CWALAC stands in support of any victim of abuse, but this last-minute ambush to derail a respectable nominee without evidence, and against an avalanche of examples of his good character, leaves no reason to delay this important confirmation.

Sen. Jeff Flake holds an important position as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He should not be swayed by fear tactics and hysteria from the left. Sen. Jeff Flake works for you, therefore, let him hear from you.

Please take a moment to call Sen. Jeff Flake and remind him what this confirmation means for this nation. Tell him to confirm Kavanaugh without delay!

Call Sen. Flake today at his Phoenix Office at 602-840-1891.

Thank you and may God bless you and your family,

Penny Nance
CEO and President
Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee
