It’s Now In Our Hands – Will You Join Us?

By | California | No Comments

The Supreme Court of the United States overturned the Roe v. Wade decision giving the law and authority to the states to decide on how to protect the rights of the unborn. It is time to celebrate a historic victory! It is time to recognize the power of prayer. Thank you to everyone who tirelessly prayed and worked on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case at the state and national levels.  This is evidence that all the work you are doing DOES bear fruit.

Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the lives saved by this decision.

Over 40 years ago, Mrs. Beverly LaHaye founded Concerned Women for America around her kitchen table with a few praying women for legislation such as Roe v. Wade because it did not represent her as a Christian, as a woman, as a wife, or as a mother. Now, Concerned Women for America is the largest public policy women’s organization in the nation, having a strong pro-life voice in the media, in the courts, on Capitol Hill, in state and local governments, in high school, on college campuses, and in culture.

This week, Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California participated in the California March for Life. Prior to the start of the march, CWA of California hosted a prayer vigil to pray for life, for safety at the March for Life, prayers to bless families in California, for the California legislature to pass life-giving bills, and praying for the Supreme Court Justices to overturn Roe. Hearts were softened and prayers were answered! We need to enter the throne room carrying our banners and noise makers and praise the LORD Hallelujah!

More pictures from the day here.

The battle is not over. The end of Roe did not make abortion illegal.

The Court’s decision gave law and authority back to the people in states, which means now more than ever, recognize that your voice really matters. Engage with your local and state representatives. Continue your prayer efforts and be in the know about your state government. Ultimately, at the end of the day, it’s a matter of two paired hearts, the mom and her child.

Join with me in prayer for hope, support, and knowledge that there are networks of churches, pregnancy health centers, and medical clinics that provide nurturing environments that give free support, from prenatal care to counseling and adoption services to diapers and other childcare supplies.

God does have a plan for this nation. Praise the LORD and Hallelujah for this victory for life!

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action!

CWA of California Hosting Prayer Vigil at March for Life

By | California | No Comments

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you
 before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5

The California government is sending the message to its citizens that abortion at any stage for any reason is safe and encouraged, which sends the message that there is only one answer to unplanned pregnancy—abortion. This false narrative affects our culture in a very dangerous and terrible way by devaluing the sanctity of life.

There is hope and healing in unplanned pregnancies. Networks of churches, pregnancy health centers, and medical clinics provide nurturing environments that give free support, from prenatal care to counseling and adoption services to diapers and other childcare supplies. Babies in the womb are precious and sacred. We must send the message of redemption and protection of life.

Please join Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California at our prayer vigil that precedes the California March for Life. At the prayer vigil, CWA of California Prayer Chapter Leaders, pro-life pastors, and directors of local crisis pregnancy centers and medical clinics will be joining me in praying for our state and nation at the State Capitol in Sacramento. It will be a solemn time of blessing.

Here are the details:
Date: Wednesday, June 22
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Location: State Capitol in Sacramento

The power of prayer is effective and necessary. Please come join us! Spread this information to your church network, friends, and family. Click here for a flyer to share.

In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Bible encourages us to meet together to pray. This highlights the value of fellowship in Jesus’ name. We should seek to gather together as the body of Christ to experience the Lord’s presence and blessings.

Action Needed-We Must Stop Infanticide in California

By | California | No Comments

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) continues to strongly oppose AB 2223. You can read my previous alert concerning AB 2223 here.

Our collective opposition to AB 2223 sent a powerful message to bill author Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D-District 15), causing her to adjust the “infanticide” language. The bill text, “perinatal death due to pregnancy related causes” was recently amended to say, “due to causes that occurred in utero.”  While this may be a partial victory, since the specific text allowing the potential killing of newborns unrelated to abortion has been removed, this new language still could allow for a baby born alive following a late-term abortion attempt to be left to die with no protection or investigation by law enforcement.

Should we still oppose this bill? Yes!

Attorney Susan S. Arnall summarizes the amendment, “AB 2223 operates to cover up the cause of a baby’s death. It provides abortionists and abusers legal cover to finish the job of killing an unwanted or inconvenient newborn by asserting the Cause In Utero Excuse up to 28 days after birth. The baby can be killed, and any evidence explaining her death will die with her. And that seems to be the point of AB 2223’s newest perinatal death clause – to excuse and make investigation of a newborn’s death wholly unnecessary and even actionable.”

Abortion, the violent killing of babies in the womb at any stage, must be stopped. The fact remains that abortion is legal until viability in California – and even afterward if a physician deems the mother’s life or “health” to be at risk. Viability is not at a subjective, arbitrary line. Life begins at conception. And the lives of the youngest Californians among us deserve to be defended and protected.

That AB 2223 prohibits the death of newborns from being investigated or reported by police is unconscionable and is not in the best interest of babies or women. AB 2223 must be stopped.

Please contact your State Assembly Member through our Action Center HERE and urge them to defend life and oppose AB 2223. Now is the time to act and make a difference!

Prayer: Dear Lord, we call upon you to take care of women and these issues they face with unplanned pregnancies and making decisions for the best interest of their baby. Please, Lord, bring wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. May women in California know that there are pregnancy medical clinics and centers that give support even after delivering their babies with food, clothes, and a community of support for child-rearing and adoption services. We pray that You will stop laws that do not support life. You are sovereign, Lord. We praise You for the partial victory on the amendment of this bill. Please continue to go before us and bless our efforts to oppose efforts that are not in the best interest of women and children. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action! \

Urgent: Dangerous Abortion Bill Moving in California

By | California | No Comments

Last week, I was proud to join with many of our Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California Prayer Action Chapter Leaders and members to oppose the egregious pro-abortion bill, AB 2223. We prayed for the California Legislature, lobbied the Assembly Health Committee, and met with our own district assembly members. The heartfelt civic engagement at the California State Capitol was powerful.

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) strongly opposes AB 2223. Under the guise of “reproductive health,” this bill decriminalizes killing babies in or out of the womb based on the “perinatal” language. The bill harms children in the womb, threatens those born alive, and will have a chilling effect on the investigation of infant deaths.

AB 2223 passed out of the Assembly Health Committee and now moves to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for a vote. AB 2223 will go to the Assembly floor for the full Assembly vote if it passes out of the Appropriations Committee.

ACT TODAY!
Please contact your State Assembly Member through our Action Center HERE and urge them to defend life and oppose AB 2223. Now is the time to act and make a difference!

Would you make three phone calls and say thank you?

Just three out of 15 assembly members on the Assembly Health Committee voted against AB 2223. Would you call their offices and thank them for representing our values and defending the sanctity of life?

  1. Frank Bigelow (R-District 5), 916-319-2005
  2. Heath Flora (R-District 12) 916-319-2012
  3. Marie Waldron (R-District 75), 916-319-2075

Prayer: Psalm 145:18 says, “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” Dear Lord, we pray for the California Legislature to seek truth. Convict their hearts and transform their minds with your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action!

Californians: Choose Today Between Life and Death

By | California | No Comments

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make.
Oh, that you would choose life so that you and your descendants might live.”
Deuteronomy 30:19

The majority of our state legislative body wants to make Californians complicit in the act of abortion. Senate Bill 245 forces all private and public health insurance plans in California to cover abortions with no co-pays or deductibles. This is a serious concern because it violates the consciences of millions of pro-life Californians by forcing abortion funding through their health insurance. This legislation also violates the Weldon Amendment, which prohibits discrimination against health care plans that do not cover abortion.

Every year we lose more than 800,000 babies to abortion in the United States. SB 245 seeks to expand that number by encouraging more moms and dads to opt for abortion in California with the incentives of free abortion coverage. It is our moral and civic duty to let our legislators know that we oppose this appalling bill.

Take Action!

  1. Contact your Assembly member and urge him or her to vote NO on SB 245. The bill may be voted in the Assembly at any time, so it is critical to make calls and send emails today. If you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California, please be sure to let them know.
  2. Forward this email to like-minded family and friends.

Please pray alongside me: Dear Heavenly Father, give us boldness to speak. Fill us with Your justice for the unborn. Open the eyes of our legislators that they will not side with the culture of death. Walk before us as we fight against this great injustice against the unborn. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action!

California Legislative Update and Action Items

By | California | No Comments

We are now in the second half of the 2021-22 California legislative session, and bad bills are picking up speed while many good ones are now dead. For example, Sen. Brian Dahle’s (R-District 1) SB 217, a bill that would have simply created transparency in sex education programs at public schools, died in the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Please help us stand for Biblical values by praying and taking action with regard to some very concerning bills. Please call your Assembly member and ask him or her to oppose the following bills.

#1. SB 245 by Sen. Lena Gonzalez (D-District 33) would allow all abortions in California to be free, forcing both private and public insurance policies to cover abortions with no copays and/or deductibles. We, at Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California, aim to protect innocent human life — including protecting the unborn from chemical and surgical abortion and infanticide. Jeremiah 1:5a says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you …”

If SB 245 bill passes…

  1. Even more California taxpayer dollars will pay for these abortions, and private insurance companies will also be forced to increase benefits and/or premiums to follow this “free” abortion scheme.
  2. Our state government will be promoting and encouraging abortions by making the process even easier and more accessible to Californians.
  3. This will set a precedent for other states to follow.

#2. SB 380 by Sen. Susan Eggman (D-District 5) would eliminate safety requirements in the current California assisted suicide law. The planned sunset in 2025 was intended to provide lawmakers with ten years of data for review before making the policy permanent. The bill also shortens the time between a patient’s two oral requests for life-ending drugs from 15 days to just 2. This change allows a patient to make a hasty decision against what may be their better judgment if given more time. Genesis 9:6 tells us that the Lord values human life.  We at CWA of California aim to protect society from euthanasia.

Take Action!

  1. Both bills are now in the State Assembly so please contact your Assembly member today and urge him or her to vote NO on SB 245 and to vote NO on SB 380. You can find who represents you here.
  2. Forward this information to family and friends.

Prayer: Lord, we come before you to intercede for our government. Guide our legislators to make wise decisions. Magnify our voices as we speak up to influence our culture for Christ. We love you, Lord. You see us, and You love us. We trust in You. In Jesus’s name.  Amen.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action!

Hooray for Bipartisan Support for Sex Ed Transparency Bill!

By | California | No Comments

A warm thank you to all of you for your calls and letters showing support for Senate Bill 217! SB 217 that I wrote you about last week, requires school districts to provide online parental access/transparency for sex education curricula. This includes audiovisual material and information on guest speakers covering topics of sex ed and HIV prevention set forth by the California Healthy Youth Act, which must be taught beginning in Grade 7, but may be taught as early as kindergarten.

This transparency bill passed through the Senate Education Committee, with two Republicans and two Democrats voting in support of this bill. This is a huge step in the right direction to ensure parental oversight in their children’s learning in public school education. SB 217 now goes to the Appropriations Committee and then to the Senate floor. If passed there, it will continue to the Assembly to start the same process again.

Action:

#1. Please contact the offices of the four state senators who voted in support of the bill and thank them for ensuring parental oversite for their children’s learning.

  1. Sen. Brian Dahle (bill author) (R-District 1) Phone: (916) 651-4001
  2. Sen. Connie M. Leyva (Chair) (D-District 20) Phone: (916) 651-4020
  3. Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (Vice-Chair) (R-District 23) Phone: (916) 651-4023
  4. Sen. Steven M. Glazer (D-District 7)  Phone: (916) 651-4007

#2. Please contact your state senator now to ask for their support of SB 217. Use this link to find which senator represents you in the state legislature.

If you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California, be sure to let them know.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the members of Concerned Women for America of California for their prayers and their faithfulness to action. What a blessing, Lord, that SB 217 passed through the Senate Education Committee. What an answer to prayer! We pray for continued favor and wisdom to legislators as this bill continues through the legislature. Thank you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Spread the word, and be sure to thank the members of the committee who voted in favor!

Thank you, and God bless you!

Calls Needed on a Parental Sex Ed Transparency Bill

By | California | No Comments

“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Sen. Brian Dahle’s (R-District 01) Senate Bill 217 will be heard this Wednesday, April 28, in the Senate Education Committee. Senate Bill 217 recognizes the vital input of parents in education. The bill simply requires transparency for all sex education curricula, including audiovisual material and information on guest speakers covering topics of sex ed and HIV prevention set forth by the California Healthy Youth Act, which must be taught beginning in Grade 7, but may be taught as early as kindergarten.

Parents in many districts in California have had incredible challenges in accessing all the sex-ed material taught to their children in public schools. Providing materials online offers parents the transparency they are seeking, which encourages parents to be proactive, engage in dialogue and impart Biblical values regarding human sexuality to their children. Knowing what is being taught also helps parents know if they should opt their children out of the often graphic and controversial teaching.

SB 217 will be heard April 28 at 9:00 a.m., so it is important that you take action immediately. This is the bill’s only chance to continue forward.

Take Action!

  1. Call your State Senator and ask him or her to support SB 217! Find your senator here. If your senator is not on the Senate Education Committee, ask him or her to encourage those who are on the committee to support SB 217.
  2. Let your senator know curriculum transparency with SB 217 encourages parental guidance/oversight in their children’s development and instruction, something every government official should advocate.
  3. You can also find instructions on the committee page to submit a letter to the committee and even call in to the hearing to simply offer your name, city, and support for this important bill. Click here to read more.
  4. Forward this on to friends and family.

Let’s pray: Dear Heavenly Father, we pray that you would give to the members of the Senate

Education Committee wisdom and understanding to accomplish Your purpose, and that they would support curriculum transparency and vote YES on SB 217.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action!

Important Religious Liberty Bill Needs Your Support

By | California | No Comments

“I have no greater joy than this:  to hear that
My children are living according to the truth.” 3 John 1:4

Concerned Women for America of California encourages prayer and action to protect and promote Biblical values and Constitutional rights. Today I am asking you to do both to protect our religious freedom in California.

Sen. Brian Jones (R-District 38) has introduced a vitally important bill that recognizes churches in California as essential during a public crisis. Senate Bill 397, the “Religion Is Essential Act,” declares that “religion provides extensive benefits to our country, not only in meeting the spiritual needs of our populace, but also supporting social services, health care, and economic activity.”

During a state of emergency or local emergency, the bill’s digest states it would “require the Governor or the local government to deem religious services to be an essential service and to be necessary and vital to the health and welfare of the public. The bill would prohibit the state and local government from taking a discriminatory action against a religious organization…and would require the state and local government to permit a religious organization to continue operating and engaging in religious services during a state of emergency to the same or greater extent that other organizations or businesses that provide essential services that are necessary and vital to the health and welfare of the public are permitted to operate.”

Take Action!

  • Jones deeply appreciates your voice of support! Please take 30 seconds to complete this form and let your voice of support make a difference. Every individual’s letter of support is necessary to get this bill through the Senate committees (assigned to Judiciary, Governmental Organization and Health) so it can continue to the Senate floor, pass the Assembly, and ultimately to the Governor’s desk. Again, please support SB 397 by completing this form.
  • Contact your state senator and assembly member and ask them to co-author Senate Bill 397. Find your California legislator and their contact information here. If you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California, be sure to let them know.
  • Pray for Sen. Jones and the success of this important measure.
  • Forward this information to family and friends!

Please pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that you hear us, You see us, and that You deeply love us. Lord, we come before You to pray for Sen. Brian Jones, a leader who listens to the voice of the people to protect religious liberty, a leader who will speak up for the rights of churches. Open the eyes, Lord, of the legislators in committee hearings and on the Senate and Assembly floor. May they see the benefit of this bill to the people of California and vote yes on SB 397.  We love You and thank You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

2020 California Legislative Session Summary

By | California | No Comments

A warm, heartfelt thanks to all our Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California members who supported our prayer and action efforts during the 2020 legislative session. Though the session has come to an end, let us not shrink back from vigilant prayer for California and the issues it faces. Please join your local CWA of California Prayer/Action Chapter if you are not already connected. Contact me for more information.

Legislative Update
Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund (AB 2218): Gov. Gavin Newsom (Democrat) signed AB2218 into law. I reported on the bill here and here. California taxpayers will now provide grants that will distribute an unspecified amount of funds to organizations “serving” transgender and intersex adults and children. Various services include “gender-affirming health care services, such as hormone therapy or gender reassignment surgery.” Dr. James Dobson weighed in on this bill in an article here. In a recent poll, more than 64 percent of voters participating somewhat or strongly disapproved of AB 2218.

Jails and Prisons (SB 132): Gov. Newsom also signed SB 132 into law. The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation will now allow transgender persons to be housed in the facility of their choice “with or without a diagnosis of gender dysphoria or any other physical or mental health diagnosis, and regardless of anatomy …”

What’s the Answer – Elect Better Legislators!
Elections have consequences. If we want a better outcome for our next legislative session, we need to elect better legislators. We do this by taking part in the privilege of voting and encouraging others to do the same. And above all else, we pray.

Please ensure that you, your family, friends, and church congregants are registered to vote. The deadline to do so is Monday, October 19. You may register to vote online at your county elections office website or on the Secretary of State’s website here.

Due to the governor’s COVID-19 orders, all California registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot beginning this week. These may be returned by mail postmarked by November 3, dropped off during business hours at various official ballot drop-off locations, or dropped off at any polling place between October 31 and Election Day November 3. See locations and hours of operation for drop-off and polling places on your county elections office website.

Let us Pray Together for the Election
Please join our national prayer campaign, SHE PRAYS SHE VOTES 2020. The main goal of She Prays, She Votes 2020 is prayer. Now more than ever, Christians need to be on their knees before God praying for our nation, for our leaders, and for this election.

Lord Jesus, we pray with humble hearts for our state and our nation. Deuteronomy 3:22 says, “Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you.” Lord, we pray for fearless leaders who will stand boldly on the Word of God for what is right and true and pure. Please, Lord, pour your blessing upon our land and heal our nation. In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

United with you in peace and truth,

Calls Needed! Taxpayer Funding for Transgender Treatment Heads to Senate Floor

By | California | No Comments

Assembly Bill 2218 passed the Senate Health Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee and it could be heard on the Senate floor as early as today, August 25.  And, because of recent minor amendments to the bill it will have to return to the Assembly floor for a concurrence vote.

As you’ve learned from previous alerts here, here, and here, AB 2218 establishes a Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund to encourage, promote, and provide the means for sex-change operations, cross-sex hormones, and puberty-blocking drugs to minors and adults. The taxpayer funds to provide grants were originally set at $15 million, but now there is no limitation – simply “as appropriated by the Legislature.”

Take action today to help us stop this dangerous bill!

  1. Contact both your state senator and assembly member asking for a “no” vote on AB 2218. Find your senator and assembly member here. Be sure to let them know you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.
  2. Forward this email to friends and family.

The legislative session will end on Monday, August 31, so AB 2218 could be heard any time during the next several days, first in the Senate and then the Assembly. Do not delay in contacting your elected officials.

Please pray: Father, please help our senators and assembly members to understand the enormity of this vote and to understand Your truth about our creation, male and female, in Your image. Give them the wisdom and COURAGE to say “no” to this bill. Protect our vulnerable children and give their parents the wisdom to guide and protect them throughout their lives. Lord may Your will be done in California. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We thank you for your prayers and action once again. You are our faithful warriors!

Your Voice Made the Difference in California – Here’s How

By | California | No Comments

“For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
Deuteronomy 20:4

Our United Voice Defeated Assembly Bill 2218!

Last week, we asked you to activate and raise the alarm on Assembly Bill (AB) 2218 – and boy did you! Your phone calls, your visits to Senate district offices, and your presence on social media stopped AB 2218 dead in its tracks!

AB 2218 would have used millions of taxpayer dollars to establish a Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund, which would have encouraged, promoted, and provided the means for sex-change operations, cross-sex hormones, and puberty-blocking drugs to minors.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California opposed AB 2218.  The Senate Health Committee heard our united voice of opposition and removed AB 2218 from the hearing agenda.

This is a miraculous victory that reveals the Lord’s favor and His power.  California is truly blessed by your commitment to prayer and action.

Thank you, and God bless California!

Sincerely,
Marlo Tucker
State Director

Thursday, July 23: Day of Action to Protect Our Children!

By | California | No Comments

The California legislature is fast-tracking Assembly Bill 2218 to provide millions of taxpayer dollars (an open-ended amount!) to establish a Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund which would encourage, promote, and provide the means for sex-change operations, cross-sex hormones, and puberty-blocking drugs to minors. This fund “shall be available to a hospital, health care clinic, or other medical provider that currently provides gender-affirming health care services, such as hormone therapy or gender reassignment surgery.”

Right now, many girls and boys are becoming part of a dangerous phenomenon in which, unsatisfied with their bodies, they are being pressured into disfiguring and dangerous operations and puberty-blocking drugs. These “treatments” can cause irreversible damage, rendering them infertile and in chronic pain. For females, such medical measures have included mutilation, such as cutting off breasts. For both males and females, they lose child-bearing abilities.

In the midst of all the social issues bombarding our families today, why would our state government choose to pay attention, spend money, and focus their time and energy on passing a law that undermines a child’s identity, the sanctity of womanhood and manhood, and use California tax dollars to fund this measure?

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California is linking arms with organizations, groups, and concerned citizens to send a strong message that we oppose AB 2218. The bill has already passed the Assembly and is now being heard in the Senate Health Committee.

Day of Action: This Thursday, July 23

  1. Call the offices of the nine Senate Health Committee members and urge them to oppose AB 2218. The office contact information is directly below my signature line. Be sure to let them know you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.
  2. Forward this alert to your community of prayer warriors, family, and friends as a call to pray and action.

We need to act in defense of the family and stop this threat to the futures of our daughters and sons. Be a part of this powerful call to action! Do not let the government harm our children with this proposed law.

“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27

Please pray: Lord, most urgently, we pray for the bill to end in the senate committee and progress no further. We pray especially for our leaders that you would provide wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to our legislators. May you open their eyes to what is good for our young children. Lord may Your will be done in California. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

United with you in prayer and action,

Marlo Tucker
State Director

Call the following nine offices on Thursday, July 23.

Action Item: Tell Gov. Newsom to Shut All Abortion Clinics!

By | California | No Comments

Why are abortion businesses still operating when Gov. Gavin Newsom (Democrat) is shutting churches, schools, and mass gatherings?

Currently, across the United States, including California, elective procedures and services that constitute essential health care for women, such as routine Pap smears, mammograms, and pelvic exams, are being postponed in order to reduce everyone’s risk of exposure to COVID-19 and to conserve scarce medical resources. Yet, the abortion industry is open for business as usual.

On March 18, 2020, Vice President Mike Pence issued a mass gathering ban exceeding 10 people, and Gov. Newsom has placed many restrictions on Californians’ activities according to this directive. While many healthcare agencies have ceased their non-essential medical, surgical, and dental procedures, Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers across California insist on essential business as usual. A few Planned Parenthood clinics have closed – and we praise God for that – but most remain open. Medication abortions continue unabated. Later term elective surgical abortions are being limited to fewer facilities, but still being performed. These life-taking procedures consume critically needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other equipment that COVID-19 patients need.

Immediate Action Needed
#1. Please contact Gov. Newsom.  Urge him to join other states by closing abortion clinics and redirecting PPE and other medical equipment to our state’s much-needed coronavirus response. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.

Gov. Newsom: (916) 445-2841 | Online form

#2. Forward this email to family and friends.

Please pray:  Dear Heavenly Father, we ask that you move on the hearts of Gov. Newsom and all our leaders to seek You in all things, especially with regard to this issue of life.

“Open your mouth for the speechless,
In the cause of all who are appointed to die.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy.”
Proverbs 31:8-9

Thank you for taking action at this critical time.

United with you in peace and truth,

Game On! It’s Time to Start Getting Out the Vote!

By | California | No Comments

It’s election season! Early voting has already begun across California as we head toward the March 3 primary election.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California says it’s “game on” to get conservative women and men registered to vote and to the polls in the primary and general elections!

We have put together a list of helpful sites to guide you through the election season, including a voter score guide link.

What if I’m not registered?
If you or someone you know is not yet registered to vote, there is still time! The registration deadline is February 18. You may register online at the Secretary of State’s website here or at your County Registrar of Voter’s website (list here). If you miss the deadline, you may register at the County Registrar’s office up to Election Day or at your polling place on Election Day and cast a provisional ballot.

Who is on my ballot and where do I vote?
Click here to locate and view your ballot, as well as your polling place from the Secretary of State’s website. Or visit your County Registrar of Voter’s website for more information.

Is there a guide for voting?
For statewide and federal primary candidates, CWA has partnered with iVoterGuide to offer an excellent resource where you can find the candidates who will appear on your ballot and where the candidates stand on the issues.  Click here and type in your zip code and view how the evaluation panelists scored the candidates based on their survey answers, their campaign websites, etc.

No local races have been evaluated there, but state legislator information is available through VoteSmart. You can find voting records (if a candidate has one), ratings from organizations, quotes from speeches and more. You might also consider checking with friends and elected officials to offer wisdom on the candidates in the local races.

We urge you to do your homework and vote your values.
Please pray diligently for the upcoming elections.
Please forward this to friends, family, and acquaintances.

May our God speak of us, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”

Join us for Coffee and Fellowship! January 25 – Blythe, CA

By | California | No Comments

Join us for a Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California Coffee Talk event on January 25, in Blythe, California. Our Coffee Talk events are a great way to learn more about CWA of California, the work we do here in the state, and how to get involved. We talk about:

  • Legislation on CWA’s seven core issues
  • Praise reports at the state and national level
  • Issues to pray about at the local, state, and national level
  • Upcoming events and projects
  • Public policy-focused initiatives

Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” And that is what our Coffee Talks are all about. We gather together as like-minded believers to praise God for His love and mercy, to fellowship and encourage one another in the Lord, and to learn how to be productive and engaged citizens in Christian advocacy here in California and our nation.

Following a recent Coffee Talk, a new member of CWA of California proclaimed, “For many years, I was a Christian who was asleep about the issues affecting our community. Now, I’m awake, eager, and engaged – going to town hall meetings and being specific in prayer. Even my husband is speaking up in the workplace for Biblical values!  Praise God!”

Event Details:
Date: Saturday, January 25
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Location: Zion Lutheran Church, 721 E. Chanslor Way, Blythe, CA 92225
Click here to download the Coffee Talk flyer.

We invite you, your friends, and your family to join us if you live in or around Blythe. It’s a great time of prayer, education, and fellowship – all over delicious and comforting tea, coffee, and cakes.

If you don’t live in the Blythe area, please contact me if you would like to host a Coffee Talk in your area.

United with you in prayer and thanksgiving,

Marlo Tucker

Attend the Fight for Parents’ Rights! Rally on January 15

By | California | No Comments

CWA of California encourages our members and friends to attend the Fight for Parents’ Rights! rally to support SB 673. It is important that the Senate knows that the people see parental rights and authority as an integral part of education. Please join us for this crucial event on Wednesday, January 15, beginning at 8:00 a.m. in Sacramento on the South Steps of the State Capitol.

We will be there to greet you, and you’ll get a chance to speak out and tell the Senate Education Committee members “we care about our children’s education and instruction, and they should care too!”

Click here to watch a 90-second video by SB 673 bill sponsor Sen. Mike Morrell. Sen. Morrell explains the bill and discusses the senate committee hearing and the rally.

Click here for background and action items for SB 673.

Share: Of course, bring friends to the rally and invite them to call committee members too! Find out more at sb673.org!
