Concerned Women for America of Kentucky

Applauds the SCOTUS Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Frankfort, Kentucky – The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s majority pro-life legislature and a strong support network of pro-life groups have worked hard for many years to transform hearts and minds of Kentuckians regarding the value of human life in the womb. Through solid resources and good legislation, the Commonwealth is prepared to support a culture of life that protects all.

Concerned Women for America of Kentucky State Director Jennifer Pendleton, speaking for Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, has this to say concerning the Supreme Court Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision:

“The decision by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade is a victory for the diverse communities all across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. As a conservative majority who values life, we desire to help women realize the value of their unique design and flourish in all seasons of life, including pregnancy and motherhood. Organizations around Kentucky stand ready to support, encourage, and advocate for pregnant mothers and children.

“Thank you, to our courageous Attorney General, Daniel Cameron, for putting the lives of the unborn first, taking Kentucky’s fight all the way to the Supreme Court. Thank you to our conservative majority in our General Assembly who had the foresight to legislate protections for the unborn during the previous Administration, and thank you to the many pro-life groups around our state who, with their blood, sweat, and tears, have paved the way for this moment!

“Tomorrow, we get to work, but today we celebrate life!”

Concerned Women for America of Louisiana

Applauds the SCOTUS Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Covington, Louisiana – It’s a day to celebrate! The overturn of Roe v. Wade restores Louisiana’s right to protect the life of unborn babies across the state from abortion.

Concerned Women for America of Louisiana State Director Laura Huber, speaking for Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, has this to say concerning the Supreme Court Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision:

“In 2006, the Louisiana legislator passed the Human Life Protection Act, which ensures that the state of Louisiana has the authority to prohibit abortion following the reversal of Roe v. Wade. In addition, the Louisiana Love Life Amendment passed in 2020 protects our pro-life laws prohibiting state judges from ‘finding’ a right to abortion or funding abortion in the Louisiana Constitution.

“And just this week, Gov. Bel Edwards signed into law several pro-life bills. The Governor made this statement on the bill signing, ‘My position on abortion has been unwavering. I am pro-life and have never hidden that fact.’

“Organizations around Louisiana stand ready to support, encourage, and advocate for pregnant mothers and children. Through solid resources to assist and good legislation, Louisiana is prepared to support a culture of life that protects all.”

Concerned Women for America of Virginia
Applauds the SCOTUS Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Forest, Virginia – After eight years of a liberal-controlled governorship and some of the worst abortion laws in the nation, we praise God Virginia now has a governor, Glenn Youngkin, who is committed to advancing the rights of the unborn.

CWA of Virginia State Director Teresa Pregnall, speaking for Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, has this to say concerning the Supreme Court decision:

“We are optimistic over the next year that the citizens of this great Commonwealth will send back to the Virginia Legislature those who value human life in the womb and who will send strong pro-life bills to the Governor. We also have a pro-life ally in Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

“The Supreme Court has finally overturned Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization; now it is up to the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia to do our part. We stand ready to welcome women and unborn children and are prepared to support a culture of life that protects all.”

Roe vs. Wade is Overturned! CWA of Pennsylvania Responds

Concerned Women for America of Pennsylvania
Applauds the SCOTUS Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania – Now that the Supreme Court has finally overturned Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, it is up to the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to do our part. Pennsylvania stands ready to welcome women and unborn children.

CWA of Pennsylvania State Director Dilonna Coran, speaking for Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, has this to say concerning the Supreme Court decision:

“Every child deserves the right to life. Roe was wrong from the start. Today’s significant decision is welcomed after decades of pro-life activism. Individual states are now finally free to protect life.

“Unfortunately, nothing will immediately change for Pennsylvanians. The fight for women and children now goes to a different level. The Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act of 1989 keeps abortion legal up to six months of pregnancy. In post-Roe, Pennsylvania could become a destination state for those seeking an abortion. According to the Guttmacher Institute, people driving to Pennsylvania seeking an abortion will increase by over 1,000 percent.

“It is up to the citizens of this great Commonwealth to do our part. We must work tirelessly to elect legislators and a governor who support the culture of life and who will pass life-affirming legislation.”

“Well, the Supreme Court has finally overturned Roe, and now it is up to us, the people of North Dakota, to do our part. Thank you, Gov. Historic Decision! Victory for Human Rights and Life in Dobbs Decision

Victory for Human Rights and Life in Dobbs Decision
CWA’s historic fight to protect life moves to the state level

Washington, D.C. – Today, Concerned Women for America (CWA) praised the U.S. Supreme Court for their recognition of the grave error of imposing the Court’s view of abortion policy on the nation by judicial fiat.  SCOTUS issued their opinion on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization; in a 6-3 decision, the Court overturned the wrongfully decided Roe v. Wade decision and sent the battle to protect life back to the states.

“Today was a huge victory for human rights and life,” said Penny Young Nance, President and CEO of CWA Legislative Action Committee. “Concerned Women for America has been working towards this decision for almost 50 years. In 1973, the Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court made it legal to destroy life, a child, in the womb up to birth.  In 2022, the Dobbs decision has allowed the conversation to begin again about what we, as a society, now know about fetal development and what restrictions should be placed on destroying human life in the womb.

“Concerned Women for America and Young Women for America leaders and activists are ready to continue the fight for the unborn at the state level and work with legislators to make sure our law reflects the voice of the people through the democratic process. Truly, the pro-life movement’s work has just begun, but this decision is a huge step toward CWA’s goal of making abortion unthinkable.”

The court held: “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.”

Night of Rage-We Will Not Stand Down

By | Dobbs, News and Events | No Comments

This poster is appearing all over the District of Columbia. According to Influence Watch, Jane’s Revenge, which said it was responsible for the attack on the pro-life organization in Madison, Wisconsin, is a far-left extremist group. Its name refers to the “Jane Collective,” which was a group in Chicago before the Roe decision that assisted women in obtaining illegal abortions.

On May 8, the Wisconsin Family Action offices were fire-bombed and vandalized. Anarchists’ symbols were painted on the walls, and their slogan “If abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either” was painted on the exterior wall.

In claiming responsibility for the attack in Wisconsin, Jane’s revenge stated, “This is not a declaration of war. War has been upon us for decades. A war which we did not want and did not provoke. Too long have we been attacked for asking for basic medical care. Too long have we been shot, bombed, and forced into childbirth without consent.”  They indicated that this was just the beginning and that there would be future attacks.

Concerned Women for America has been a presence at the Supreme Court every decision day in June. We will continue to be there until the Dobbs decision has been rendered. We have been involved in the fight for the lives of the unborn since our beginnings 43 years ago. We will not stand down!

As we have reported, our building was vandalized back in May. We have video of the young man exposing himself and urinating on our building. His hatred of us and what we do is evident in every gesture and look.

We wanted you to know that we are taking security precautions to safeguard our staff first and then our building. We have hired armed security who will be in the building every day, and they will also travel to the Court with us when we go.

Additional security and security precautions are not something for which we have budgeted. By the end of June, we will have invested $15,000 in additional security. We will do everything we can to be sure our staff and our property are protected. Your help in offsetting this cost would be so appreciated.

We ask for your prayers of protection over our staff and our property. As we go to the Court, we are practicing Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”

Pro-Life Day of Action: Wednesday, June 1

By | Pennsylvania | No Comments

“Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the LORD God, even my God, is with you.  He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.” I Chronicles 28:20

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Pennsylvania is joining the statewide pro-life community for a Day of Action for Pennsylvania on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. We are asking everyone to contact their State Senator and urge them to vote “YES” to pass the Constitutional Life Amendment, SB956, before the state budget is passed this June.

CWA of Pennsylvania continues to strongly support the Pennsylvania Constitutional Life Amendment. SB956 is a joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Pennsylvania stating that there is no right to abortion or funding for an abortion. Current Pennsylvania law does not permit taxpayer funding for most abortions, and we want to keep it that way.

Supporting this bill protects the life of every unborn child from conception to birth, keeps our abortion laws from being struck down, will maintain our current laws, and allow our state to enact future pro-life laws to protect the health and life of women and their pre-born children.

Please email, tweet, or call your State Senator on Wednesday, June 1 and ask them to defend life and vote YES on SB956, the Life Amendment. Now is the time to act and make a difference!

A simple breakdown of the amendment process for SB956 is below my signature.

The Life Amendment currently awaits action by the full Pennsylvania Senate before moving to the State House. It is critical this bill pass in both chambers in June to follow state law and allow time to advertise the constitutional amendment ahead of next year’s new legislative session.

We cannot allow the abortion industry to force taxpayer funding of abortion and allow the Pennsylvania courts to change our abortion laws. We must pass the Life Amendment!

A win for the abortion industry in this lawsuit would:

  • Force taxpayer funding of abortion.
  • Jeopardize all current pro-life laws such as parental consent for minors, 24-hour waiting period before an abortion, and no regular inspection of abortion facilities.
  • Manufacture a right to abortion in our state constitution by an activist court that sides with the abortion industry demands.
  • Cause Pennsylvania to become one of the most extreme abortion states in our nation, legalizing abortion right up until birth

TAKE ACTION ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1! Please email, call, or tweet your State Senator through our Action Center HERE and urge them to pass the Life Amendment, SB956. Pennsylvania taxpayers should not be forced to pay for abortions!

Be sure to share this information with like-minded family and friends.

Please pray for your State Senator by name, asking for boldness, wisdom, and protection.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action.

From knees to feet,
Dilonna M. Coran
State Director

Life Amendment process:

The abortion industry will seek to accomplish its abortion agenda through the courts when it cannot move its agenda through legislation. There is a lawsuit before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that argues taxpayers should fund abortion and invents the right to an abortion in our Pennsylvania Constitution.

The Constitutional Life Amendment (SB 956) must be approved by both chambers, in identical form, in the 2022-2023 legislative session. If passed, it will go to the voters in a statewide ballot referendum in the fall of 2023. The beauty of a constitutional amendment is it takes the issue to the voters, does not need the Governor’s signature, and cannot be vetoed.

Action: Senate Soon to Consider Abortion on Demand Act!

By | Legislative Updates, News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

ACTION: Tell Your Senators to Reject the So-Called Women’s Health Protection Act!

The U.S. Senate will consider S. 4132, the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA). This extreme bill—more aptly named the “Abortion on Demand Act”—aims to codify and expand Roe v. Wade, superseding any conflicting state or federal law and creating a sweeping right to provide or obtain an abortion without limitation or safeguards up until a child’s birth. In doing so, the bill jeopardizes common sense measures like ultrasound and fetal heartbeat tests, mandatory reflection periods, and parental notice requirements

In a transparent attempt to disguise their extremism, Senate Democrats have simply copied and pasted failed legislation from late February, the only change being an omission of the “findings” section. The result is the same abominable policy proposal that denigrates the sanctity of life.

Please email, call, or tweet your senators through our Action Center HERE and urge them to oppose this radical ploy for abortion on demand. Women deserve better.

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) vehemently opposes this inhumane legislation. We are not alone. An overwhelming majority of Americans support limits on abortion after the first trimester at least.

The deceptive WHPA does nothing less than advance a culture of death by abortion in America. Sadly, as the Left processes the potential overturning of Roe, sending abortion policy decisions back to the people through their elected representatives, this tone-deaf bill has become their final, desperate rallying cry.

Contact your senators TODAY and demand policy that truly protects women’s health and well-being and defends our most vulnerable, the precious unborn.

Marching for Life Prayer Warriors

By | Virginia | No Comments

By Dorana Sylvia, CWA of Virginia’s Stafford Prayer/Action Chapter Leader

I was absolutely overwhelmed by the love and joy I experienced at the Virginia March for Life. It was refreshing to see so many people in prayer, both young and old, marching with the common goal of celebrating life! I rejoice that I was able to have my three sons and my mother join me on this special day with my Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Virginia family.

The Lord moved me to share my testimony, with many at the March, of having once been a late-term abortion ultra-feminist activist. I had believed the lie, yet God had a plan for my life. The common question was, “What made you change?” My response was a simple one, “Jesus Christ and the prayers of faithful Christians.”

God strategically placed in my path to get my attention survivors of abortion, children who had been conceived through incest, and rape victims who had kept their babies. How could I ever again advocate for abortion?

The people I met at the Virginia March for Life are those warriors who continue to pray for the lost and for God to save and restore those affected by abortion. While at the March, I never heard an insult toward women who have had abortions or were considering abortion. The message was clear: God is love, He is a forgiving God, women are not alone in their pregnancy, and God alone owns life.

The Enemy may try to come after our families and our children, but he is no match for my Savior, the Hope of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Steady as the Enemy Panics on Abortion

By | Dobbs, Legal, News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

Let darkness squelch and screech at the loss of the sacrifices they value. The violent among them will stir up the multitudes to fulfill their vision and protest that the innocent are no longer as expendable. The undiscerning mob is sure to follow whichever way the wind blows, tossed to and fro — used, abused, and ultimately discarded.

They shall fail. The end of Roe is yet to be at the appointed time.

Remember how we have gotten to this point. Our almost 50 years of struggle against the evil of abortion centered not on legislation or legal battles but on prayer.

He who is able to give life and give it more abundantly told us that, as He reminded us, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy” (John. 10:10). Darkness has its nature. It will act according to it. The desperation and hopelessness they feel will make them do irrational things.

But the people of God shall stand firm and take action (Daniel 11:32). Prayer is action.

Therefore, pray.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) is making our Dobbs prayer guide available to you through this link.

Scripture tells us that we are “able to stand against the schemes of the devil” by putting on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). We stand:

    1. Having fastened on the belt of truth,
    2. Having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
    3. As shoes for our feet, we put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace,
    4. We take up the shield of faith, with which we can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one,
    5. We put on the helmet of salvation,
    6. And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The promised result is that we will “be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”

Steady, then. We know where our hope is laid.

The leaked opinion is indeed promising—inspiring even. It states simple truths as it lays out Roe’s unethical, unconstitutional foundations. But we cannot reward the malicious tactics that have been used to release it to the public. So, we will wait until the official word from the Court, and then we will celebrate with thanksgiving to God, shining a light that darkness may flee.

The statement from CWA CEO and President Penny Nance, following the breaking news, laid out this righteous vision:

“The betrayal of trust we have witnessed today at the United States Supreme Court by what is reportedly the malicious leak of a private draft of the Court’s Dobbs opinion is outrageous.

“This appears to be another attempt by the Left to intimidate the justices to uphold a law that is clearly unconstitutional. On the contrary, these tactics should only embolden the Court to stand firm on law and principle. Chief Justice John Roberts must take charge of his court and issue this decision as soon as possible, sending a clear message that the Court will never be intimidated.

“The hundreds of thousands of members of Concerned Women for America remain prayerful and cautiously optimistic as we work to provide loving alternatives to the violent ending of a human life through abortion.”

Amen.

By | Maine | No Comments

L.D. 811, sponsored by Sen. Catherine Breen (D-Cumberland), was amended last week and was retitled “An Act To Compensate Sexual and Reproductive Health Care Providers Fairly for Comprehensive Primary Care Delivery.” The bottom line for this bill: it funds more abortions.

Take Action

Call the following and ask them to oppose L.D. 811.

Guatemala Declared the Ibero-American Pro-Life Capital

By | International, News and Events | No Comments

Picture: Guatemalan President, Alejandro Giammattei (center), with church leaders in front of the monument that was unveiled which declares Guatemala the Pro-Life Capital.

On March 9, 2022, Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei declared that Guatemala is the “Ibero-American Pro-Life Capital.” In December 2021, President Giammattei said that Guatemala is “a country of faith” such that in governing it, “each government institution has a clear direction and coordination in respecting life from conception and the protection of the family as the central axis of society … Our Government has promoted the Public Policy for the Protection of Life and the Family as an Institution. Let me even share with you that Guatemala will be declared the Ibero-American Pro-Life Capital on March 9.”

Neydy Casillas, Esq., CWA’s Vice President of International Affairs, has been in Guatemala this week.

“It was an honor for me to represent Concerned Women for America and our hundreds of thousands of members as Guatemala was declared the Pro-life Capital of Iberoamérica.

“Through the years, the Guatemalan people have stood up to defend life from the moment of conception until natural death. Despite the pressure of international organizations and countries around the world (including the U.S.), Guatemala has been faithful to its values and its national law, not allowing anyone to interfere with its position on life as a nation.

“Today, Guatemala has become an example of courage for all the nations to defend God’s creation.”

Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America, congratulated the people of Guatemala:

“The recognition of the intrinsic value of every human life, no matter how vulnerable, lies at the very foundation of freedom and liberty. Therefore, we commend the Guatemalan people for declaring Guatemala the Pro-Life Capital of Ibero-America. It is exciting for Concerned Women for America to be there to celebrate with you. “¡Bien hecho!” May your efforts to love and protect mothers and babies serve as an example and an inspiration throughout the world that we can do better by treating each other with compassion and care at every stage of life.”

Senate Fails to Advance Abortion on Demand Act

By | Legislative Updates, News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

As our nation faces record inflation, an energy crisis, a war in Ukraine, and more, Senate Democrats started the week addressing their top priority: unfettered access to abortion up until birth. On Monday, Senate Republicans, joined by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia), defeated a cloture vote (46-48) on H.R. 3755, the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), the most radical abortion bill in our nation’s history.

Prior to Monday night’s vote on the WHPA, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee’s happy warriors for life quickly mobilized to urge their Senators to reject this extremist ploy for abortion on demand. THANK YOU!

The bill aims to codify and even expand Roe v. Wade, superseding any conflicting state or federal law, including the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. WHPA creates a wide-sweeping statutory right to provide or obtain an abortion without limitation no matter the stage of pregnancy. Such policy jeopardizes common sense measures to protect unborn children and their mothers, including ultrasound and fetal heartbeat tests, mandatory reflection periods, and parental notice requirements.

This attempt to callously brand abortion as just another healthcare procedure is both troubling and tone-deaf. Americans continue to reject the radicalism of the abortion industry and its advocates. For example, over 60% of Americans oppose new Food and Drug Administration regulations that permanently remove the in-person dispensing requirement for the chemical abortion pill and make the dangerous drug available through the mail. Further, 71% of American supports limits on abortion, especially after the first trimester.

The U.S. is one of only seven countries that allow elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. We join egregious human rights abusers like North Korea and China. The WHPA would place the U.S. at the top of this shameful list. Congressional Democrats are completely out of touch with public opinion, which is trending heavily towards the protection of innocent unborn children.

Your messages proved effective, and we hope you will continue to join us in promoting legislation that truly protects women’s health and well-being while recognizing the sanctity of all human life.

CWA Joins Call on Congress to Stop Medicaid Funding of Faulty Prenatal Tests

By | News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

Concerned Women for America (CWA), joined a broad coalition of pro-life leaders calling on Congress to stop any Medicaid funding of prenatal genetic testing that has been shown to give a disturbing amount of false positives, causing many women to terminate their pregnancies based on wrong information.

The letter, addressed to Sens. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Steve Daines (R-MT), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Health, and Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Brett Guthrie (R-KY), Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health, explains in part:

These tests, which are marketed to expectant families as a way to determine whether their unborn child suffers from a rare genetic condition, are wrong a remarkable 85% of the time according to one recent report Considering the fact that these unreliable tests are now used by more than a third of pregnant women in America and that many families have tragically opted for an abortion when a potentially false positive is rendered instead of seeking another test to confirm the result, the lives of millions of unborn children are at risk.

Indefensible Roe –The Spiritual Track

By | Indefensible Roe, LBB, Legal, News and Events, Publications, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

Thank you for reading. Throughout the Indefensible Roe series, we have explored how the infamous Roe v. Wade decision that opened the door to the more than 62 million babies killed in abortion in the U.S. since 1973 has no basis to stand on today as the Supreme Court reexamines its validity in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The Supreme Court’s meddling in abortion policy has been a complete failure—a betrayal of the most fundamental principles of liberty. We have discussed how Roe and its supporting cases are indefensible legally, as a matter of policyscientifically, and today we explore perhaps its most tragic failure: the spiritual one.

Though some may be tempted to dismiss this aspect of the discussion as somehow outside the bounds of the legal/policy discussion, I submit to you that the injustice of abortion strikes at the heart of the legal case. As Aquinas put it, an unjust law is no law at all, but a sort of violence:

Human law is law only by virtue of its accordance with right reason; and thus it is manifest that it flows from the eternal law. And in so far as it deviates from right reason it is called an unjust law; in such case it is no law at all, but rather a species of violence. (Summa Theologiae, Ia-Ilae, q. xciii, art. 3, ad 2m.)

Further, the social consequences of the spiritual atrophy our country has suffered in the last 50 years, following the selfish, deathly path of abortion, have brought our country to the brink of self-destruction.

Look around. We are not a healthy nation.
