Redemption on Display in Our Nation’s Capital

Christians around the country enjoy the dawn of a new era as the most powerful government in the world joins the victorious celebrations of our Risen King. While our nation is still whelmed with worries and hostile debate encroaches even the most religious circles, this year’s momentous Faith Month events retune our hearts and remind us of our Lord’s ultimate redemptive power.

Around this time last year, believers gathered in the pews on Easter to celebrate the Lord Jesus’ resurrection from the grave. While proclaiming His Name and defeat over evil and death, the White House under President Joe Biden sang a different tune. On one of the most reverent days of the year, they planted a stake claiming a nation-wide “Trans Day of Visibility.” This was a full front attack on our faith, coming from a man who claims Christ under his Catholic faith.

But transgenderism is the antithesis of Resurrection Sunday. While Christians rejoice in Christ’s triumph over evil, transgender ideology crowns depravity and confusion as king of defining realty. Dysphoric feelings reign under transgenderism, and truth must bow down in surrender.

Thankfully, this Holy Week the Trump White House released a “Presidential Message on Holy Week, 2025.” President Trump writes:

Melania and I join in prayer with Christians celebrating the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—the living Son of God who conquered death, freed us from sin, and unlocked the gates of Heaven for all of humanity … Through His suffering, we have redemption.  Through His death, we are forgiven of our sins.  Through His Resurrection, we have hope of eternal life.  On Easter morning, the stone is rolled away, the tomb is empty, and light prevails over darkness—signaling that death does not have the final word.

Similarly, the Halls of Congress echo a victorious proclamation. Members of Congress have officially recognized Faith Month in the Congressional Record, they are joining the celebration on social media and even lining the office building halls with Christian Flags. Believers cannot help but notice the shift happening at the Capitol.

Of course, we know the world does not understand this, and these efforts sometimes bring frivolous debates and accusations of “Christian Nationalism.” But we should not get caught in these shortsighted disputes. Rather, let us seek eternal significance in knowing our hope is not bound in earthly leadership. We can look to change as an example of our Father’s ultimate redemptive Lordship over temporal powers.

Within the year, He visibly broke strongholds that previously choked the everyday Christian’s civil life. Not only that, but He invited us into the story! He called and equipped an army of believers who played a pivotal role in the changes we see today.

While these results do not determine God’s faithfulness, they are a way He can bring glory to His name and shine His light, even to the dimmest corners of politics.

This is just a glimpse of what He can and will do! This Sunday, we will once again gather to celebrate His ultimate victory— Oh death, where is your victory? Oh death, where is your sting?

Earthly authority is temporary. And when the time comes, old things will pass away, and every knee will bow and every tongue confess— He is Lord! This is our hope!
