By | Barrett, Legal, Legislative Updates, News and Events | No Comments

Friends,

Congratulations! Your support and engagement have now helped confirm Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. She was just confirmed by a vote of 52-48 and sworn in by Justice Clarence Thomas. What a picture of hope for our country to see her raise her hand and take her oath from another constitutionalist at the Court.

Our Women for Amy Bus Tour is rejoicing! I want to thank those of you who took the time to come out to rally in support of Justice Barrett. We have a few more stops still, and they are bound to be the most joyous ones yet, as we celebrate this amazing victory.

Your engagement in this nomination will bear fruits for generations to come. Justice Barrett is not only a woman of great faith, integrity, and commitment to the Constitution, she is also now the youngest member of the Supreme Court.

This is a historic day for conservative women. Justice Barrett is an inspiration to millions of young conservative women who are witnessing a prime example of someone who reached the highest pinnacles of her profession without compromising her values.

But the task ahead will not be easy for Justice Barrett. The pressures will only increase as she takes her new position at the Court. So, let me encourage you to continue to keep her and her family in your prayers.

And remember to stay connected with us here at ConcernedWomen.org as we continue to stand together for freedom and justice in our land.

Historic Moment for Conservative Women, ACB Confirmed to the Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. – The United States Senate just confirmed Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court by a vote of 52-48. . Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), had this to say:

“The conservative women I have been visiting all across the country in our ‘Women for Amy’ Bus Tour cheer loudly for this historic milestone for women.  Judge Barret is an inspiration to millions!

“A conservative, constitutionalist, pro-life woman at the Supreme Court is why we voted for Donald Trump. We congratulate Justice Barrett, and we are praying for her and her family. The task ahead will be a difficult one, but we have full confidence in her abilities as a jurist.

“We must also recognize the incredible job done by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham in cutting through the usual Washington antics and making sure Judge Barrett was given a fair confirmation process. This was not a given. The opposition tried to derail her, even though they knew she was more than qualified for the job. They opposed her for political reasons. But Senate leadership and Republicans in the Senate went to bat for the American people, and they delivered. A job well done.

“But ultimately, we must get back to the source of such a great addition to the Supreme Court: President Donald J. Trump. He has surpassed all our expectations when it comes to judicial nominations, and he has indeed delivered on making the judiciary great again.

“Americans will remember that going into this important election.”

Women for Amy Bus Tour Applauds Limiting Debate on Nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett

Penny Nance: “Conservative women across the country celebrate this victory over the religious bigotry of Democrats.”

Washington, D.C. –  In light of the Senate vote today to limit debate on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, leaders of the Women for Amy Bus Tour eagerly anticipate a vote on her confirmation Monday evening.

Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), made the following statement as she sets off on the final leg of the twelve-state Women for Amy Bus Tour.

“On the eve of the vote to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court, conservative women across the country celebrate this victory over the religious bigotry of Democrats. We applaud Senate Republicans for treating Judge Barrett with respect and moving ahead with her confirmation, despite the Democrats’ resisting their constitutional obligation on political grounds.

“Judge Barrett has demonstrated she has the skills, temperament, and qualifications to serve on the Supreme Court, yet Democrats are fighting her confirmation every step of the way.

“For a party that claims to promote the empowerment of women, Democrats are showing their true colors; they only support women who agree with their political ideology. All others are free to be treated with contempt, as they have done to Judge Barrett.”

This week, the Women for Amy Bus Tour makes stops in Texas and Arizona. For more information on the tour, please go to: https://concernedwomen.org/women-for-amy/

Women for Amy Bus Tour Celebrates Committee Vote

Washington, D.C. – This morning, after Democrats opted to boycott the vote, the United States Senate Judiciary Committee voted favorably to send Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to be an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court to the full Senate.

Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), had this to say, as she continues to lead the Women for Amy Bus Tour, currently traveling from McAlester, Oklahoma, to Fort Worth, Texas:

“Conservative Women all over this country are energized by the nomination of Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court; we are seeing it first-hand. They are celebrating her with every step she takes, against the tide, to trace her own path to the highest court in the land. What an inspiration she is to millions of young girls watching today. She gives us hope!

“We applaud Senate Republicans for treating her with respect and moving ahead with her confirmation, despite the Democrats’ temper tantrums. They should be ashamed of disrespecting this highly qualified nominee by not even showing up for blatant partisan political reasons. She deserves better.

“But they prove, once again, that they are not the party that promotes and respects women’s rights. They only support women who agree with their political ideology. All others are free to be treated with contempt, as they have done to Judge Barrett today.

“The good news is that, at the end of this process, they too will have to address her Justice Barrett, no matter the theatrics they employ today.”

A Week of Prayer for Judge Amy Coney Barrett

By | Barrett, CEO, News and Events | No Comments

Prayer and action lay at the foundation of Concerned Women for America (CWA). In many ways, they are intermingled. Prayer is action — the most powerful kind of action we take here at CWA. So, as we begin our work to support the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court, we want to take a week just before her Senate Judiciary Committee hearings commence on Monday, October 12, and pray for her nomination.

What follows is a seven-day prayer guide starting Monday, October 12, the first day of hearings and ending on Monday, October 19. We pray this is helpful to you and gets us in the proper mindset for the spiritual battle ahead.

I want to urge you to make this part of your daily devotion during this week. Justice is a spiritual matter. Jesus actually called it one of the “weightier matters of the law” (see Matthew 23:23). A quick word search on my Bible software rendered 125 verses using the Hebrew word for “justice.” There are forces working tirelessly to pervert justice who see Judge Barrett as a real threat to their schemes. Let us stand united in prayer asking God, above all, that His will be done.

Taking the approach laid out in Philippians 4:6-7, we are laying out “prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let[ting] [our] requests be made known to God.”

7-Day Prayer Guide

(Click here for a printable version and to add your name to those who are praying.)

Monday, October 12 – Pray for Judge Barrett and Her Family
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we lift up Judge Amy Coney Barrett and her family to You. Only You can prepare her for the upcoming time of questioning.  It is a seemingly impossible task; give her the courage of her convictions and the strength to persevere.

Supplication: Protect her and her family. Give them patience and grace as they face unkindness and challenges to her character. Let the vicious attacks of the enemy not touch their hearts and minds. Let them not grow weary through it all.

Thanksgiving: We thank You for preparing her for this moment. We thank You for this merciful opportunity to see a woman committed to justice and truth appointed to the nation’s highest court.

Request: Give her words of wisdom, clarity of mind, humility and grace as she gets ready for the hearings.

Tuesday, October 13 – Pray for the Hearings
Prayer: You, oh God, are our help and confidence. We pray Your blessings on the nomination of Judge Barrett.

Supplication: May the schemes of the enemy be derailed. May truth and justice reign.

Thanksgiving: We thank You for Your involvement and care for us. Who are we that You are mindful of us?

Request: Help us to be engaged and to support truth and justice through prayer and action as we help to get Judge Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court. We do so, believing she is a woman who fears You and will try to be an impartial guardian of justice. May she do so with humility and honor, always remembering that it is truth that sets us free.

Wednesday, October 14 – Pray for the President and His Team
Prayer: Oh Lord, Our God, we live in tumultuous times. And for such a time, You have selected President Donald J. Trump to lead our nation.  We pray Your protection over him and his family and over his team. We pray Your wisdom and guidance will prevail over all other counsel in every office in the White House.

Supplication: Help the president to grow in the knowledge of You. Help him to trust in You and not to lean on his own understanding.

Thanksgiving: We thank You for giving him wisdom in selecting judges. We are so thankful to see people who seek to preserve religious liberty and justice appointed.

Request: Believing that Judge Barrett is just such a judge, we ask You to guide her nomination every step of the way. Let not those who hate justice prevail in their schemes to stop her. May Your people rejoice, seeing Your hand involved throughout it all.

Thursday, October 15 – Pray for the U.S. Supreme Court
Prayer: Precious Lord, we lift up the U.S. Supreme Court before You today. We pray that Your justice will be the scent that guides the appetites of every Supreme Court justice.

Supplication: Stir the hearts of every one of them toward You: Chief Justice John Roberts, Associate Justices Clarence Thomas, Stephen Breyer, Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and, of course, future-Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Thanksgiving: We thank You for recent decisions guarding our freedoms (may the trend continue!).

Request: Guard the justices and their families against the dark seductions that come along with the incredible power of the positions they hold.

Friday, October 16 – Pray for the Media
Prayer: Oh Lord, help us to climb out of this awful pit we are in where so many of us cannot see the truth. Indeed, many do not want to see it. We pray specifically today for the members of our national media.

Supplication: Give them courage and curiosity. Give them a thirst for truth and justice. Send more of your people to shine a light in this important area.

Thanksgiving: We thank You for Your mercy towards our land for so many years. We thank You for our freedoms. We thank you for the freedom of the press.

Request: Help us to learn from our past mistakes, to respond to Your discipline, and to seek after all that is good and true and beautiful. Help the media, as it covers this nomination, to present truth and to reject the manipulations from those seeking personal gain from distorting Judge Barrett’s record and character.

Saturday, October 17 – Pray for the Judiciary Committee
Prayer: On this, Your day, we bless Your name, oh God. May Your will be done on Earth as in Heaven. We pray Your will over what is happening next week: the hearings of Judge Barrett.

Supplication: Help all the senators and their teams as they prepare to tackle this important task. We ask that it be conducted with grace and dignity, with respect and compassion.

Thanksgiving: In faith, we stand confident that You are in control and will frustrate the enemy’s plans at every turn.

Request: We pray for miracles in the lives of all involved, that they may see Your hand at play throughout this process. We pray specifically for the members of the Judiciary Committee: Chairman, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Ranking Member Dianna Feinstein of California, Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware, Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Sen. Joshua Hawley of Missouri, Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, Sen, Mark Crapo of Idaho, Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, and Sen. John Neely Kennedy of Louisiana.

Sunday, October 18 – Pray for the U.S. Senate
Prayer: God and Father, we pray for our elected officials, especially for our senators, as they consider the nomination of Judge Amy coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court. Give them a heart and passion for truth and justice.

Supplication: Guard their hearts and minds against the schemes of those who seek to pervert justice and truth. Give them the courage to rise above partisan politics.
Thanksgiving: We thank You for the freedoms we have enjoyed for so many years. We thank you for these senators who are to represent “we the people.” Guide them in this difficult task.

Request: Help senators to think clearly and justly on this nomination. Help them to concentrate on Judge Barrett and her record, instead of the outside forces pressuring them to act for other personal interests.

Monday, October 19 – Pray for Justice in America
Prayer: Holy Father, we do not seek to be trivial but thorough. We depend on You for everything we have. We praise Your name for the very air we breathe. And we lay at Your feet the preservation of justice and righteousness in our land.

Supplication: Help us thirst for justice and remember its true meaning. Forgive us for perverting it and seeking our own prideful ways, instead of what is truly good and true.

Thanksgiving: We thank You for Your mercy and grace towards us.

Request: Help Judge (and future-Justice) Barrett to not grow cynical in the application and preservation of justice, but to depend on You more and more when the tasks and pressures associated with the position You’ve bestowed on her become increasingly harder.
