For America (Prayer 125)

By | LBB, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

For Your Name’s sake Lord, attend to our prayer

Let us not be put to shame

For none who trust in the LORD, our God

Will ever regret, even through trials or pain, being loved

To be loved is to know a comfort—a protection

That cannot be explained with words

But only felt in the deepest sense

It fills the heart and soul with song

That ancient song of Thanksgiving

Echoing through the walls of Time

Since the beginning, when You

Made man, in Your image—male and female

The whole world may forget

Yea, even my closest friends may turn and walk away

But not I, not we, who, by grace,

Have seen the beauty of art, and silence, of a child embraced

We who see the good, nay the privilege

Of giving all for man or woman of any race

Of suffering unjustly for a cause—a Man

Some think dead, though by Him we pray

Help us to stand, Lord

Help us endure, and thrive

Help us to shine Your light, Your Truth

In every heart— pierce the soul, penetrate the mind

We need You, we so desperately need You

At this point in time, as in all of life

Renew the vision You gave our Forefathers

Rekindle the fear, not of man, but of Your righteous judgments

Let them come if they must

To Your plan, we only say, “amen”

But for mercy for our people, we pray

For an outpouring of Your Spirit

Give us this day our daily bread

And help us to repent, and

Turn from our wicked ways

To the eternal joy that awaits.

In Christ’s name we pray,

Amen.

Join In! Tell Your Church Leaders About Faith Month

Here is a sample email/letter you can use to let your pastors and church leaders about Faith Month:

Dear ______________,

As we get ready to celebrate the glorious Truth of Easter, I wanted to let you know that the whole month of April has been set aside for communities to celebrate their faith. A Federal Congressional statement has been officially introduced in the last couple of years declaring April “Faith Month.” I would love for our church family to become more aware of this so we can use the opportunity to be salt and light to our community.

I learned about the initiative from Concerned Women for America (CWA), a Christian organization encouraging its members to fly the Christian flag in their homes and on their desks and car windows. “Faith Month” encourages people of all faiths to celebrate their beliefs, but the initiative presents an excellent opportunity for us as Christians to bring a positive message of our love of God and neighbor and the fact that we are “not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes,” (Romans 1:16).

This is so needed in our day and age when so many in the media insist on maligning the name of the body of Christ. The recent tragedy in Nashville brought this to the forefront so heartbreakingly. When the news broke that a transgender person had murdered three nine-year-old kids, including the daughter of a Christian pastor, and three staff members at a Christian school, Reuters had this headline: “Former Christian school student kills three children, three staff in Nashville shooting.” They want the public to associate Christianity with the killer, not the victims, even in such a blatant case.

I am not surprised. This is what our Lord told us would happen, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first” (John 15:18). But Jesus did not give up on us, and so I feel we cannot give up on our culture either. We need to continue to lift the banner of faith in Christ that all may come and thirst no more. Faith Month gives us a great opportunity to do just that, and I hope we can contribute to the global effort in any small way we can.

I stand here ready to help in any way, so please do contact me with any thoughts and/or requests.

Praying for you and the church leadership,

This April, Celebrate Faith—We Need It

“You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you.” So started the “Order of the Day” from the “Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Expeditionary Force” on June 6, 1944. With a stroke of the pen, General Dwight D. Eisenhower sent the most extraordinary collection of brave young soldiers, sailors, and airmen to execute the famous D-Day operation. It is a day we continue to remember with great honor for the sacrifice that gave the world victory over the Nazis. The order is preserved at the Eisenhower Library as a cherished and important document for our nation.

But if today’s woke forces have their way, we better get the shredder out. You see, the letter not only mentioned prayers, as already noted, but General Eisenhower had the audacity (the cultural insensitivity, really, according to today’s woke mob) to “beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.”

Who does he think he is? What about those who do not share his values? He must be canceled. Erase this letter from history, lest someone, somewhere, see it and is triggered into deep anxiety and depression by its insensitive references to God.

Maybe we can put Vice Admiral Joanna Nunan, Superintendent of the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), on the case. The esteemed academy recently confronted a similarly emotionally triggering event under her watch and dealt with it swiftly…

Moral Apathy and Moral Corruption: Two Sides of the Same Coin

By | Defense of Family, LBB, News and Events, Religious Liberty | No Comments

Thanks to the outstanding investigative work of Mia Cathell at Townhall, the public got a glimpse into the heinous crimes committed by a radical LGBTQ+ activist couple against their two adopted children (9 and 11 years old now). A grand jury indicted William Dale Zulock, Jr. and Zachary Jacoby Zulock on charges including “incest, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, felony sexual exploitation of children, and felony prostitution of a minor.”

The two, explains Cathell, were “darlings of the LGBTQ media” who were “part of an anti-gay hate campaign promoting ‘# NOH8′” and whose pictures were featured several times on the largest LGBTQ+ monthly publication in the nation, Out magazine.

The alleged charges must suffice for our purposes; the investigation details are too upsetting (see Cathell’s entire series, being mindful of their content warning—it is hard to get through). We can simply say this is the worst type of abuse against children. These poor children were in third and fourth grades. Some abuse was allegedly filmed to satisfy the perverted desires of the men. And they even allegedly offered their children up to other men. All the while threatening them, saying things like, “Our business is our business. What happens in our home, stays in our home.”

To think of what these children have gone through is genuinely heartbreaking. So, you can imagine how my heart sank to discover that the adoption of these children, which opened the door to this unimaginable abuse, was facilitated by a “Christian special-needs adoption agency.” I’m sorry, what? Yes, Cathell didn’t specify at first but later revealed it was an agency called “All God’s Children, Inc.”

So, here is where I’d like to focus your attention as Christians for a moment and appeal to your sense of righteousness and zeal for the Name of our Lord. We simply cannot stand silent while so many Christians today celebrate and support sin in the name of Christ. It is heresy. Those who choose to identify themselves as Christians bear the name of Christ. They cannot condone and celebrate sin in any of its forms. Not within and not without.

As Christians, we are tacitly complicit in the worst types of abuses when we remain silent to the trampling of God’s loving standards for us in the name of tolerance or anything else. Put another way, we cannot violate the first commandment of Christ (to love God above all, with all our hearts, soul, and mind) to promote the world’s distortion of our Lord’s second command (to love our neighbors as ourselves). See Matthew 22:37-40.

When we manipulate God’s Word, we weaken the only good and perfect standard for any sort of sustainable moral order. If Christians agree with the world that there is no objective standard, that God’s law is relative to our personal preferences, then it is impossible to establish some arbitrary human-created line of morality further along because we believe, oh now, “that” is too far. Says who? That might be too far for you, but I have my own truth. Isn’t that what we say? Isn’t that what millions of Christians go along with every day here in America?

To be clear. The connection I want us to draw is not between sexual orientation and child abuse and pedophilia (see this recent encounter for other examples of this depravity). Instead, the connection is between moral apathy and moral corruption.

As Cathell investigated the now conveniently defunct agency, she found a post of “All God’s Children, Inc. at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens, GA.” The report does not go into more detail about the church, but I got curious.

Not surprisingly, a quick search of First Presbyterian Church of Athens, GA, reveals that it is hosting (just as I write this on January 26, 2023) an event alongside PFLAG, “the nation’s largest family and ally organization for LGBTQIA+ people.” Here is the description of the event:

In partnership with Athens Pride Queer Collective, Pflag Athens Area will host a discussion circle during the LGBTQ+ youth group meeting time. We will meet separately from the youth group to have a free and open conversation between family members, parents, and LGBTQ+ allies. Mask wearing at your discretion.

Now you can see how a “Christian” adoption agency, like All God’s Children, Inc., would be eager to place children in a pro-LGBTQ+ home when it is born out of their theology. To affirm LGBTQ+ relationships is to do the work of their god. It is a work of the heart. Forget the Word of God. This is love to them.

The many red flags in these prospective parents (including accusations of “alleged pedophilic behavior”) were really part of the stigma attached to them by a cruel society. It is something they needed to break through, not explore further, to be extra diligent in order to protect these children. We wouldn’t want to upset the prospective couple. Everyone was surprised at how fast they moved through the adoption process (#diversity!).

Liberal Christians are not like those other Christians. One of the perpetrators in this case was very public in his criticism of Rev. Billy Graham’s daughter, Cissie Graham Lynch, because she spoke in favor of protecting the religious freedom of Christian organizations that are constantly harassed by government to abandon their faith if they want to do charity work. Cathell quotes Zachary as saying in a Facebook post, “What about all the LGBTQ couples out there that have been stopped from adopting?! What about their rights?”

The church that helped them adopt would agree. So would many other Christians today— even famous pastors. Your local pastor may use some of the teaching materials from these churches.

Andy Stanley, who has been on the pro-LGBTQ+ line for many years and whose materials are used all over this country, was recently featured praising the faith of his LGBTQ+ friends over any of his other congregants. The church needs to learn from them. “I know the verses; I know the clobber passages,” he said.

But again, the authority of Christ is the issue. Belief in God’s Word (His standards) is the issue. Stanley actively advocates diminishing God’s Word, especially the Old Testament, to be more appealing to the world. Moral apathy will give you a better hearing.

But this new form of liberal Christianity is the theological force behind the moral corruption we are all witnessing. And we must ask whether we are part of the problem. Am I showing signs of moral apathy in my own life?

David describes the workers of iniquity as those “Who speak peace to their neighbors, but evil is in their hearts” (Psalm 28:3). He prays to God against their efforts because “they do not regard the works of the Lord, nor the operation of His hands” (Psalm 28:5).

Are we doing the same? Are we showing so little regard for the Word of God that we are really promoting a false sense of peace? Again, we must ask, has my moral indifference given space to the moral corruption I see all around me?

If the answer is “yes,” we must repent. We must turn back to the God of Scripture – the whole of Scripture. We must proclaim His standards are best. Indeed, we must attest there is no other foundation for liberty and freedom known to man. True love protects.

There is only one way – the Jesus way.

Defining Reality

By | LBB, Legal, News and Events, Religious Liberty | No Comments

Who defines what is? It’s a strange question. Most people would struggle to even grasp the question at first. The point is reality. Who defines it? The Founding Fathers had a beautiful way of describing things that are “self-evident.” All men are created equal. Says who?

Reality says—truth. But the truth is under assault in our day and age. The Founders embraced a Judeo-Christian worldview precisely because it best describes (helps explain) the reality of the human heart and experience. It is self-evident that babies are born male or female. We can observe it and know that it is true. When we look at Scripture, we get insight into that observable reality. “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

Science, of course, confirms it, as science is based on scientific observations. Our biological makeup, physical, chemical, and psychological, bears witness to that reality. As scientific advancement gives us more information about DNA and XY chromosomes, we only gain more evidence of what is a well-established fact.

But from the beginning, the garden’s serpent came to question what was. “Did God actually say?” was its attack then. It still is today. We must realize that this is the battle, in politics, the culture, the church, within your very soul! We either hold on to reality or succumb to the enemy’s manipulations.

Redefining reality does not change it. A man is not a woman because he believes he is a woman. He does not become a woman if everyone else around him goes along with it. He and those going along with it are living a lie and lies will always conflict with reality. You may believe you are the man of steel, but you step in front of a bullet at your peril…

Rebuking Jesus—Liberal Elites Know Best

By | Dobbs, Legal, News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

Our sensory-overloaded society has a hard time focusing. We go from scandal to scandal, emergency to emergency, outrage to outrage. There is no time for serious reflection and introspection—no time for mourning and repentance. It is no wonder we have become so easily deceived and manipulated.

The swindle of the radical gender ideology is a perfect example. This week, UC Berkeley School of Law Professor Khiara Bridges testified at a Senate Judiciary hearing titled, “A Post-Roe America: The Legal Consequences of the Dobbs Decision.” Of course, everyone expected the radical abortion position that refuses to acknowledge the humanity of babies in the womb at any point. That sort of callous disregard for human life, even after birth, has become a hallmark of the liberal elites that permeate our institutions of higher learning. What is new is this attempt to present a fact-free, fantastical account of reality as an uncontroverted fact that everyone must pretend to accept or else.

Thanks for reading Mario’s Musings! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

In speaking about the killing of a baby in the womb, Prof. Bridges repeatedly said things like, “I think that the person with the capacity for pregnancy has value, and they should have the ability to control what happens.”

To speak of mothers as “the person with the capacity of pregnancy” is deranged. But this is what is being demanded of all of us. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) clashed with the new gender ideology golden statue as he tried to probe Prof. Bridges on the matter.

HAWLEY: “You’ve referred to people with a capacity for pregnancy. Would that be women?”

BRIDGES: “Many women, cis women, have the capacity for pregnancy. Many cis women do not have the capacity for pregnancy. There are also trans men who are capable of pregnancy as well as nonbinary people who are capable of pregnancy.”

A Prayer for Ukraine

By | International, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

A people suffer at the hand of a tyrant, Lord,
The innocent trapped among the unjust ambitions
Of those who seek power and dominance
So, we come to You for guidance and help.

For You are a Just Judge, Sovereign Father,
You hear the cry of the poor and desolate
And abhor the proud and haughty.
Let Your swift judgment unfold over all the earth.

Bring to light what is unknown
That Your name be praised among all.
Do not let evil men get away with their oppression
Of the humble and displaced.

We pray against this unjust war in Ukraine.
We pray for peace and order and fruitfulness.
We pray for a miraculous unfolding—a frustrating
That turns all meant for evil, for good.

We rejoice at the thought,
Recognizing Your holy signature in such themes—
Over and again, throughout history
The wicked fail, only You prevail.

Let it be so yet again, Lord.
Help us to speak boldly and in truth
To lift our voices in prayer and denunciation
Exposing the dark works of unrighteousness,

And coming to the aid of those who are in need,
The children, and women, most vulnerable of all.
We pray that hope may increase, for it never fails—
Not when You are it, our Hope. Be that for Ukraine.

Amen.

Sensible Supreme Court Opinion Halts Vaccine Mandate

By | Briefs, Case Vault, Gorsuch, LBB, Legal, News and Events | No Comments

In a “per curiam” opinion, meaning a decision authored by the entire Court, instead of a single justice, the United States Supreme Court granted a stay of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) vaccine mandate for employers with 100 or more workers. The rule, therefore, will not go into effect until the case goes through the entire appellate process.

But the Court’s division can be further assessed by the fact that the three more liberal justices—Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan— dissented from the opinion, and Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito joined a very strong concurring opinion by Justice Neil Gorsuch.

The Court’s sensible approach to the issue simply noted that OSHA’s “emergency standard,” which it used here and which circumvents the usual public notice and comment accountability processes, should be used with precision and caution. Instead, the Court notes that the OSHA rule which applies to 84 million workers “requires workers receive a COVID-19 vaccine, and it pre-empts contrary state laws,” works as “a blunt instrument.” It found the exemptions presented (for employees who work outside 100 percent of the time or who work exclusively outdoors, for example) were “largely illusory.” The rule “draws no distinctions based on industry or risk of exposure to COVID-19.”

The Court found those objecting to the rule were “likely to succeed on the merits of their claim that [OSHA] lack[s] authority to impose the mandate.”

In doing so, the Supreme Court returns power to the states and the people, where it belongs, because the vaccine mandate goes way beyond establishing a simple workplace standard, as the agency is charged to enact, and into establishing nationwide public health policy. Remember, OSHA has never in its history done anything like this.

And here is where Justice Gorsuch’s concurrence is extremely helpful because it acknowledges what most Americans understand. This administrative mandate is trying to accomplish what President Joe Biden could not get done through the people’s representatives. He is trying to enact something Congress up until now has rejected.

If the people want a vaccine mandate, they could easily demand it from Congress. The reality is most people do not. In fact, the President’s approval numbers have been steadily declining. The latest numbers show him at an all-time low of 33 percent.  Fifty-five percent disapprove of his handling of the pandemic.

That is why President Biden had to work through OSHA to establish this national vaccine mandate. He lacks the necessary support to do it otherwise.

Justice Gorsuch wrote:

The central question we face today is: Who decides? No one doubts that the COVID–19 pandemic has posed challenges for every American. Or that our state, local, and national governments all have roles to play in combating the disease. The only question is whether an administrative agency in Washington, one charged with overseeing workplace safety, may mandate the vaccination or regular testing of 84 million people. Or whether, as 27 States before us submit, that work belongs to state and local governments across the country and the people’s elected representatives in Congress.

That power belongs to the people, said the Supreme Court today—to those most immediately accountable to them. The concurrence noticed that “a majority of the Senate even voted to disapprove OSHA’s regulation.” Therefore, it seemed reasonable to conclude “the agency pursued its regulatory initiative only as a legislative ‘work-around.’”

With this decision, the Court re-affirms what it has said in the past, that major questions of doctrine with broad effects on the public are left to the people’s elected representatives, and that they must make it very clear when they are giving such broad power to an agency. The concurrence said this rule, known as the “major questions doctrine”:

[E]nsures that the national government’s power to make the laws that govern us remains where Article I of the Constitution says it belongs—with the people’s elected representatives. If administrative agencies seek to regulate the daily lives and liberties of millions of Americans, the doctrine says, they must at least be able to trace that power to a clear grant of authority from Congress.

And even then, the concurrence suspects that such an intrusive mandate brought through the backdoor of an administrative agency might run afoul of the “nondelegation doctrine,” which “ensures democratic accountability by preventing Congress from intentionally delegating its legislative powers to unelected officials.”

Justice Gorsuch concludes:

On the one hand, OSHA claims the power to issue a nationwide mandate on a major question but cannot trace its authority to do so to any clear congressional mandate. On the other hand, if the statutory subsection the agency cites really did endow OSHA with the power it asserts, that law would likely constitute an unconstitutional delegation of legislative authority.

Whatever your view of the COVID vaccine in general, it should be encouraging to all to see the Court protecting the Constitutional structures that guard our liberties in this way. As Justice Gorsuch put it, “The question before us is not how to respond to the pandemic, but who holds the power to do so.”

The rule will be halted for now, but the case will continue. As we await further proceedings let us pray for a wiser, more honest, and unifying approach to fighting the pandemic going forward.

Expose the Darkness

By | LBB, Virginia | No Comments

My heart breaks for Scott Smith, the Louden County, Virginia dad whose daughter was raped in a school bathroom by a boy in a skirt, being arrested while protesting at a school board meeting.

He was mercilessly arrested and bloodied up in the process for defending his daughter. I cannot hold back the tears thinking of how he must have felt.

The school district’s superintendent Scott Ziegler claimed that there had been no assault in a school restroom anywhere in Louden County. The dad was painted as a liar and a right-wing extremist as he got agitated.

Based partly on Mr. Smith’s example, the National School Boards Association (NSBA) wrote a letter to President Joe Biden asking him to use the Patriot Act to crack down on these out-of-control parents. They wrote:

“As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.”

Think about that. You are out there fighting for justice for your daughter, and instead, you get labeled a domestic terrorist.

Five days later, the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ), led by Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland, took immediate action against parents based on the NSBA letter alone. AG Garland sent a memo saying, “While spirited debate about policy matters is protected under our Constitution, that protection does not extend to threats of violence or efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views.” The memo directed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (yes, the FBI) to go after these parents.

Again, DOJ and the FBI were not to focus on protecting Mr. Smith and his daughter; they were to work to suppress Mr. Smith’s efforts to protect his daughter.

But their evil scheme has blown up in their faces. Reports have surfaced of how the school board knew of Mr. Smith’s daughter’s assault, and they concealed it to protect their hideous transgender bathroom policy. They were so negligent that they actually transferred the “transgender,” biological male boy to another school where he assaulted another young woman. A criminal investigation is underway.

The backlash has been so intense that the NSBA has disavowed its letter comparing parents to terrorists, while many of its state members resigned in condemnation.

But the battle is far from over. Believe it or not, AG Garland has yet to renounce his shameful memorandum.

Please pray for this father and against these evil school board policies.

And speak up against it. Ephesians 5:11 says, “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” To do one part of the verse is not enough. We cannot simply take no part in the works of darkness; we must also expose them. We cannot remain silent.

A Prayer for Afghanistan

By | LBB, News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

LORD,

Words fail to express the sorrow
Of the Body of Christ here in America
As we consider the fate
Of our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan.

The images are just heartbreaking.
The stories, agonizing.
We grieve for those in such perilous situations
Wondering what awaits their families.

Help! Lord.
We humbly ask for Your guidance
For our leaders and those with the
Power and means to come to their aid.

We consider, and plead especially,
For the women and children who are
Specifically targeted by the evil rule
Of the Taliban. Rise against it, Lord.

Stretch out Your mighty hand
And show Your awesome power
For all the world to see that
You are God!

Frustrate the enemy’s plans at every turn.
Let those uncommitted to freedom and liberty
Among our leaders in Washington be exposed,
Let them be removed from their posts.

Let the righteous rule again
That the people may rejoice,
As Your Word says, Lord.
And strengthen the knees of Your Church.

Give us faith to engage the spiritual fight
We so often overlook.
Give us spiritual eyes and help us
To pray fervently in the power of the Spirit.

Hear the plight of those who,
In their distress, cry out to You.
Deliver them and protect them.
Let Your wisdom increase in Afghanistan.

May the threat of persecution
Be a catalyst for Your Word to flourish,
For Your church to do as our Lord and Savior did,
To give our very lives for love.

Teach us to love, Father.
Teach us to have compassion—
To be moved as Jesus when He saw the crowds,
And give us the faith to multiply the loaves and the fish.

For what is impossible with men,
It is possible with God.
We know this to be true, Lord,
And we declare it anew.

We believe.
We believe in You, our Father.
We believe in Your Son, Jesus, in whose name we pray.
We believe in Your Holy Spirit, through whom we pray.

Amen.

Get ‘Em While They’re Young

The most innocuous category of our useless TV ratings system is TV-Y. According to the parental guidelines, it signifies content that is suitable for preschool children (2-6). This is such a formative, innocent age that even children’s networks have developed a junior version (i.e., Nick Jr., Disney Junior) to target these little ones.

Some popular shows have followed suit, developing toddler versions of their shows, specifically targeted to this age group. For example, Disney Junior has developed “Muppet Babies.” Just one look at the baby versions of the classic characters like Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, and Gonzo puts a smile on your face.

But I hope by now you know that you cannot entrust your children to the culture. I spoke to NTD News recently about San Francisco’s Gay Men’s Chorus coming out publicly with a song proclaiming they want to “convert our children.”

Please note, you cannot trust the TV ratings either. The Muppet Babies’ latest episode introduces your preschooler to the first transgender princess.  Season 3, Episode 19, titled “Gonzo-rella / Summer’s Car Trouble,” just as it sounds, plays on the old story of Cinderella, but now featuring the beloved Gonzo character…

The Spiritual War Against Children

By | Culture, LBB, Legal, News and Events, Sex Trafficking / Pornography, Sexual Exploitation, Substack | No Comments

I have pleaded with you before to realize that secular humanists are systematically targeting our children for indoctrination. A recent op-ed titled “Yes, kink belongs at Pride. And I want my kids to see it.” in one of our nation’s most prestigious newspapers, The Washington Post, helps stress the urgency of the call to stand up and fight for your children.

Though The Post makes the headline personal to make the writer Lauren Rowello’s message more palatable, her call is collective. She is pushing community standards. It’s not that she wants her kids to see sexual deviant behavior (she will make sure of that); she wants your kids to see it. That is why she is writing publicly, advocating for the behavior to be kept in full public display of children—again, they are the target.

She is not urging this wickedness for herself or even as the “self-expression” of those involved, but for the great “benefit” of corrupting children’s minds.

To their shame, The Washington Post, gives her a platform to expand her reach. The author writes, “Children who witness kink culture are reassured that alternative experiences of sexuality and expression are valid — no matter who they become as they mature, helping them recognize that their personal experiences aren’t bad or wrong, and that they aren’t alone in their experiences.”

Your child needs this, you see. That is why Pride parades must be celebrated in public on the busiest streets of the most dynamic of towns. And the more sexually deviant behaviors they showcase, the better…

I’ve Turned into My Old Preacher

By | Defense of Family, LBB, News and Events | No Comments

In my inaugural Substack exclusive, I wrote to you about the strategic targeting of our children by secularist humanists intent on capturing and manipulating their minds and emotions before they are developed enough to make wise decisions.

It is unmistakable what is happening; the examples are innumerable. Nickelodeon, not content with its Blue’s Clues Pride efforts, put out a video explaining the meaning of the pride flag featuring Drag Queen Nina West (yes, the real-life character depicted in the preschoolers’ cartoon). The video’s description encourages children to “celebrate by lifting up voices in the LGBTQIA+ community!”

I bet most of you had not heard of the subtle addition of “IA” to the “LGBTQ+” term. Your children probably had not heard of it either. But fear not, thanks to Nickelodeon, they are sure to Google the term so that they can learn all about it. The first “resource” they get from Google will take them to the OutRight Action International website, where they can learn about another 30 plus terms related to sexual preferences. Other organizations prominently featured by Google on such a search include the Human Rights Campaign, PFLAG, GLSEN, and Lambda Legal. I’ll save you the pain of having to read their propaganda and tell you that the “I” stands for intersex, and the “A” stands for asexual, among other things…

Children on the Brink

By | Defense of Family, LBB, News and Events, Sexual Exploitation | No Comments

In the paragraphs that follow, I attempt the impossible. Few achieve the magical task of putting into words the unspeakable fidgeting of the heart. It is a dangerous business to engage oneself, especially on matters where the cultural meets the spiritual. But it is a necessary work, for it is the work of universal truth—the work of freedom.

Millions feel the truth. But that is not enough. We must know the truth. It is that which sets us free.

The truth we must face today is that our children are being systematically targeted by secular humanists who are enemies of God and His Word. They do not want to “live and let live.” They want your children. They want you isolated. They want to dismantle in your children’s minds all notions of truth, especially those Scriptural truths you have taught to them.

Don’t know how that works? What does the rainbow symbolize for your children?

As they wake up in the morning, they’ll have their Kellogg’s cereal telling them to roleplay, choosing their preferred pronouns. Next, perhaps they want to watch some cartoons in the morning, as we all did growing up, and they have “Blue’s Clues Pride Parade Sing-Along with Drag Star Nina West Celebrating LGBTQ Families.”

There they learn about families that have “two daddies,” “babas [that] are nonbinary,” “trans members,” and even about “ace, bi, and pan grown-ups,” all “allies to the queer community.”

A friend commented she had to look up some of the terms. And guess what, many children will too. They will learn a lot more than what’s on one episode, thanks to that cute blue dog.

But your children don’t watch that; they watch Disney Plus. Or maybe they are older now and just like going to Target or Walmart where they’ll be presented with beautiful displays of LGBTQ+ affirming merchandise and messages, like the asexual or non-binary flag pride t-shirt or the “trans rights are human rights” one.

All these messages being pushed upon our children are guaranteed to have an effect. Our children will “google” these terms and find out more. They will consider them…

We Must Reject Critical Race Theory

By | LBB, News and Events | No Comments

“America is not a racist country,” said Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) as he delivered the response to President Joe Biden’s first address to Congress. He is right. Racism is not uniquely American; it is uniquely human. It is uniquely sinful. It existed before America and will live after.

The now-famous Critical Race Theory (CRT) is spreading the problem further by merely changing the assailant and the target of racism. In the name of ending discrimination, critical thinkers have managed to develop a program that is itself racist. It just flips the equation.

But the targets of CRT are varied. Ibram X. Kendi, one of the chief proponents of CRT who directs the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University, has said that “In order to truly be antiracist, you also have to truly be anti-capitalist.” That is why many have rightly traced the roots of CRT to Marxism.

Thankfully, parents are waking up to this pernicious ideology, especially as it is being applied in education, and they are rising up. One Virginia mom’s video went viral, as this African American mother spoke truth to power at her local school board meeting:

“In the words of Martin Luther King Jr., ‘I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they would be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.’ Now I have a dream that we will implement love, not hate, or supporting another Jim Crow’s agenda.

CRT is not an honest dialogue. It is a tactic that was used by Hitler and the Ku Klux Klan on slavery very many years ago to dumb down my ancestors— so we could not think for ourselves.

CRT is racist. It is abusive. It discriminates against one’s color. Let me educate you. An honest dialogue does not oppress. An honest dialogue does not implement hatred or injustice. It is to communicate without deceiving people.

Today we don’t need your agreement; we want action and a backbone for what we ask for today: to ban CRT. We don’t want your political advertisement to divide our children or belittle them. Think twice before you indoctrinate such racist theories.

You cannot tell me what is or is not racist. Look at me! I had to come down here today to tell it to your face that we are coming together, and we are strong. This will not be the last greet and meet. Respectfully.

She expresses the frustration that millions of parents from all racial and cultural backgrounds are feeling.

Christians, in particular, believe Scripture which teaches us that we were all made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and are all the descendants of Adam (Romans 5:12-14). We have a God Who commands us to love one another (John 13:34). A God Who loves righteousness and justice (Psalm 89:14). Therefore, we are uniquely positioned to stand up against injustice, wherever it is found—whether in the racism of old or in the new CRT form.

Because of the strong foundation in truth we profess, we can call ourselves back to that eternal truth when we fail to live up to it. That is how the great abolitionists of old were able to bring about the lasting progress we see today. Here is how Fredrick Douglass expressed it in a speech he delivered in Rochester, New York, on July 5, 1852:

You profess to believe “that, of one blood, God made all nations of men to dwell on the face of all the earth,” and hath commanded all men, everywhere to love one another; yet you notoriously hate, (and glory in your hatred,) all men whose skins are not colored like your own. You declare, before the world, and are understood by the world to declare, that you “hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; and are endowed by their Creator with certain, inalienable rights; and that, among these are, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness;” and yet, you hold securely, in a bondage, which according to your own Thomas Jefferson, “is worse than ages of that which your fathers rose in rebellion to oppose,” a seventh part of the inhabitants of your country.

So yes, let us fight racism and injustice wherever we find it. And in that spirit, we must resist this new racist CRT ideology.

We commend the states that are already taking action against it and encourage all our members to communicate with their state representatives to make sure they are aware of the pernicious nature of CRT ideology.

Let us resist the forces that insist on dividing us and further aggravating the wounds of our past racism and let us fight together for unity and true diversity in Christ.

California Just Doesn’t Get It

By | Briefs, Case Vault, Legal, News and Events, SCOTUS | No Comments

They know it is wrong. You have told them it is wrong. But our kids do it anyway, don’t they? Of course, we know once caught, they promise they will never do it again. Ever. They promise they get it, but you walk away from the conversation thinking, “They don’t get it.”

That was the feeling one got from the state of California after hearing oral arguments this week in two significant First Amendment cases before the United States Supreme Court: Americans for Prosperity Foundation v. Bonta and Thomas More Law Center v. Bonta.

The cases challenge California’s effort to force all non-profits that solicit support in the state to disclose to the government sensitive information about their major donors.

Although the state recognizes the glaring constitutional burdens on individual rights to freedom of speech and association, it still claims it needs the private information to guard against fraud. Besides, the state promises to keep the information super confidential.

Only they haven’t. As Justice Elena Kagan pointed out during oral arguments, the district court that heard the evidence in this case found that “there was a pervasive, recurring pattern of inadvertent disclosure by California.” In other words, they promise to keep the donor information private, but they don’t. They leak them intentionally or by error, ensuring, as the court also found, that “donors would likely be subject to threats and harassment.”

So, what do you do when your child has a pervasive and recurring pattern of misbehavior that endangers others? Do you just need them to promise you (one more time) that they will never do it again? …

For America (Day 118)

By | News and Events, Prayer | No Comments

Lord, we cry out to You in our trouble,
To You alone we cry out.
For You hear us in our distress
And You come to our aid time and again.

With love and discipline, You guide Your church
To the place You have set out for us.
You lead us through a straight and narrow way,
To the place You have ordained our dwelling place.

We pray for our country, we plead for America.
We have lost our way; forgive us, Lord.
Help us repent and turn to You again,
Teach us to love one another with sincere hearts.

We give You praise and sing the song of thanksgiving
For Your steadfast love and Your wondrous works among men.
You alone satisfy our souls; You alone can quench our thirst.
Teach us to eat Your Word to be filled and satisfied.

We ask for those in need among us.
Be near the poor and humble, bring Your consolation.
Be present to those in prison, be their guide and salvation.
Be a consolation to those who mourn in this hour.

We pray against those who plan evil against Your people.
We pray their plans will crumble upon them,
May their schemes never prosper, but be exposed instead,
And in their distress, humble them to come to their Damascus Road.

For we know, Omnipotent, Sovereign Lord,
You have the power to turn all things,
To change the heart of man.
The hardest of hearts is no match for Your Love.

You can mend, forgive, restore and heal.
Yet, we know You can also wound and crush
Those who reject Your merciful grace;
With fear and trembling, we ask You these things Father.

Turn the heart of our leaders to the peace of Your people.
May Your miracles stop the lawlessness we are experiencing.
Tune our hearts to the songs of thanksgiving again.
Let Your light shine in the darkness of our days.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

Stop the Dangerous H.R. 1, For the People Act

PDF Version

At a time when the country is in desperate need of confidence in our elections, this bill will completely shatter American’s confidence. The bill oversteps constitutional limits by seeking to curtail the states’ rights in an attempt to nationalize election procedures and permanently alter the power balance to favor one political party. These are some of the most grievous provisions included in H.R. 1:

  • It makes pandemic-related emergency changes to election procedures permanent.
The threat presented by COVID-19 in the last election gave way to a barrage of “accommodations,” like expanding mail-in voting or extending deadlines beyond what state law required, which gave way to irregularities that undermined public confidence in the election. H.R. 1 wants to force states to make these changes permanently. For example:

    • It requires states to implement an automatic registration system to register any eligible unregistered citizen, while at the same time shielding them from prosecution if ineligible voters are mistakenly registered.
    • It mandates no-excuse absentee voting, while prohibiting the requiring of a voter I.D.
  • Its ultimate end is to nationalize our election system.
    • It mandates that states provide ballot drop boxes 45 days before a federal election.
    • It requires states to establish an independent redistricting commission, in strict violation of federalism principles.
    • It establishes a new federal “Election Security Grants Advisory Committee,” to award grants to states that meet federal preferences.
  • It seeks to aggravate our national divide in order to punish political opponents, in direct violation of our First Amendment protections.
    • Imposes new requirements on any group that merely seeks to speak about federal policy, incentivizing disengagement.
    • It seeks to force citizens who contribute to nonprofit organizations into a searchable government database, facilitating the harassment and intimidation of private citizens by making their personal information available to the public.
  • It makes permanent the politicization of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that we have experienced in the past under malicious officials like Lois Lerner.
    • It permits the IRS to investigate and consider the political and policy persuasions of any organization and its members before granting tax-exempt status.
  • As if our national debt was not a crisis already, it seeks to inject more federal money into funding political campaigns.
    • R. 1 actually creates a 6 to 1 government match to any small donor contributions of $200 or less in a congressional or presidential campaign.
    • It also establishes a new voucher pilot program that grants eligible voters a $25 voucher to donate to any campaign of their choosing.
  • It further seeks to blatantly politicize the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
    • It changes the FEC from a bipartisan, six-member agency to a partisan, five-member agency under the control of whoever is president, opening it up to political manipulations by a simple majority.

CWALAC Letter Opposes Becerra for HHS

By | Legal, Legislative Updates, News and Events | No Comments

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) submitted a letter to the U.S. Senate opposing the nomination of Xavier Becerra to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. The letter concludes:

Gen. Becerra is a prosecutor and activist with no experience in the healthcare industry, no respect for the conscience rights of American citizens, and no compassion for the lives of the most vulnerable. CWALAC urges all Senators to oppose Xavier Becerra’s nomination to be Secretary of HHS. He is simply the wrong choice for this important position.

For America (Day 116)

By | LBB, Prayer | No Comments

Oh God, our refuge,
We give thanks to You
For Your protection and blessing
Over our land and our people.

You have been our bulwark,
Our shelter and hope.
Let the nations look and marvel
At Your lovingkindness.

You have been patient at every turn,
So, we accept and affirm Your loving correction.
Let our hearts be heavy for the suffering
Among our people—fill us with compassion.

May our hearts break
For the sins we have committed.
Against You we have committed them,
And we repent with contrite hearts.

We stand on Your grace,
In You alone we trust.
Help us to return once more
To Truth, to what is good, to Love.

Restore Your church in America!
Help us as Your bride,
To await Your coming with great expectation—
With great joy and peace. Help us be ready!

We are not.
We have become distracted
With the things of this world.
Help, Lord. Help!

For You reign from eternity to eternity;
How great are Your ways;
How unscrupulous and awesome!
Help us to see—open the eyes of our hearts and spirits.

Help us be light in all that we do,
Help us love You above all,
And help us to love each other more and more
So the world may know we are Yours.

In Christ, we pray these things,
Amen.
