Speak Up to Protect Children from Harm

Sanford Health, the “largest rural health care system in the United States,” along with The Transformation Project, will be participating in the 3rd Annual Midwest Gender Identity Summit on January 13, 2023. The event will be held at the Sanford Research Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

 

The Transformation Project is a non-profit whose mission is “supporting and empowering transgender youth.” They promote the lie that “men and women can change their gender.” They conduct events “where participants, including children, ritually ‘burn’ their ‘old name or pronouns.’”

 

According to the Transformation Project website, several of the Summit’s session topics include:

  • Supporting Your Two-Spirit & Native LGBTQ+ Patients and Coworkers
  • Learning to Address Implicit Bias Towards LGBTQ+ & 2S Patients
  • General Affirming Care and The Attitude of Affirmation in Assessment

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Dakota find these activities very disturbing, especially among a healthcare institution that takes an oath to “do no harm.” It is ironic that health care providers blatantly deny the science that tells us one cannot change their God-given sex. Children struggling with gender confusion should be protected from unethical medical interventions that ignore underlying causes and reject long-term health and well-being.

 

No long term, scientific research exists to support the safety or efficacy of sex reassignment treatments on children – in fact, there is evidence to the contrary. A 30-year study in Sweden showed a significant increase in heart disease and in the number of suicides, suicide attempts, and psychiatric hospitalizations in people a decade after they have undergone sex-reassignment surgery compared to a control group of people of the same age and sex.

 

To encourage attendance, “medical professionals” attending the event will be awarded professional education credits.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we pray for those struggling with gender dysphoria that they will believe the truth about Your design for them found in Scriptures and reject the lies of Satan.  Let them see truth in Your Word that says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female He created them.” We ask for protection of the hearts and minds of all our children, and we pray for Christians to courageously and lovingly speak God’s truth about Your design for sexuality in a confused and needy world.

Applauds the SCOTUS Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Dakota State Director Linda Thorson, speaking for Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, has this to say concerning the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision:

 

“We appreciate Gov. Doug Burgum’s released statement in May of 2022 about the decision regarding Roe v. Wade, in which he stated, ‘While recognizing that the U.S. Supreme Court has yet to issue an official opinion, our administration has consistently supported pro-life legislation, and we welcome the prospect of this issue being returned to the states where it belongs.’

 

“Well, the Supreme Court has finally overturned Roe, and now it is up to us, the people of North Dakota, to do our part. Thank you, Gov. Tell North Dakota Senators: Don’t Draft Our Daughters!

In July, the Senate Armed Services Committee approved the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022 with an amendment requiring young women to register with Selective Service for a possible future draft. This behind closed doors action faced immediate criticism—as did certain Senators who supported it. Sen. Kevin Cramer (Republican) serves as a member on the US Senate Committee on Armed Services and voted not only on the committee version of the NDAA with the women in the draft language but also voted on the actual amendment that added the women in the draft language to the NDAA itself.  

On September 23, the House passed NDAA legislation with a provision reversing military policy for a male-only draft and forcing young women to register for the first time in history. Rep. Kelly Armstrong (Republican) voted in opposition to the bill. Thank you, Rep. Armstrong!

Debate in the full Senate is expected soon, and we need a loud message to tell our North Dakota Senators to take a stand against drafting our daughters! American women are free to serve and proud to serve, but they should not be forced to serve. Women’s equality does not mean being the same as men.

There is no justification for reversing established military policy that protects young women from gambling with their lives in combat roles on a Biden-Harris-declared national emergency. We should not be willing to sacrifice common sense and tie the hands of our military with costly mandates for social experiments in our armed forces.

Calls Needed to Oppose Physician-Assisted Suicide

You can make a difference in North Dakota by praying and acting on an important bill concerning life and death – HB 1415, relating to physician-assisted suicide. Though there are many sound academic reasons to oppose physician-assisted suicide, Concerned Women for America of North Dakota believes the most important reason is that God, and God alone, is the author of life. We cannot take on the role of God and take life based on our inconsistent judgment.

This Monday, February 1, I will testify in front of the House Human Services Committee in opposition to the bill. I will urge the committee members to give HB 1415 a “Do Not Pass” recommendation. I covet your prayers. The committee will vote on the bill at a later date.

North Dakota: Introducing CWA’s Constitution 101 Class!

While many of us are staying home and/or homeschooling, Concerned Women for America (CWA) is providing a great learning opportunity for teens, pre-teens, and adults. CWA’s General Counsel, Mario Diaz, Esq., has created an educational and entertaining series on the U.S. Constitution.

Mario takes us on a journey to understand America’s founding documents and the principles which guard our liberty. Part I focuses on the Declaration of Independence by way of an introduction to the concepts that undergird the U.S. Constitution.

Coffee Talk Event in Cavalier – A Great Success!

We all had a great time at the Coffee Talk event in Cavalier!  Sixteen women came out in sub-zero temperatures on  February 18, to learn about the ministry and mission of Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Dakota. It was a blessing to gather with the body of Christ to fellowship and encourage one another in the Lord!

A special thanks to the area’s Prayer/Action Chapter Leader, Linda Werven, for organizing the event!

Young mothers, a newly married woman, and others of all ages gathered to encourage one another and learn ways the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, CWA, works to protect and promote Biblical values and Constitutional principles through prayer, education, and advocacy on a local, state, and national level.

As conservative Christian women, we discussed current issues and the ways we can increase our influence in today’s culture from Penny Young Nance’s book Feisty and Feminine, A Rallying Cry for Conservative Women. Everyone was given a book as a gift from CWA of North Dakota.  We talked about many of the topics in the book such as the devaluation of women, the marriage debate, women in the workplace, the impact of local chapters, and more. We were inspired by Nance’s view of the Proverbs 31 woman, “I think, though, that the key to the Proverbs 31 woman is found in the end of the passage: ‘A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.’”

Thank God for the voices of Christian women today. “Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech.” Proverbs 1:20,21

Votes Validate Pro-family and Pro-life Values of Legislators

North Dakota Now Officially Opposes the Federal Transgender Bathroom Mandate

Great news!  Last week North Dakota joined Arkansas, Kansas, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming in seeking an injunction preventing federal agencies from implementing a mandate that transgender students be allowed to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity (as opposed to their birth certificate) or the school districts will lose Federal funds under Title IX.

We have North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem to thank for this courageous action as he joined the nine other state Attorneys Generals.  Please take a moment to thank him!

As you know we sent out an e-alert last May on this subject and asked you to contact Attorney General Stenehjem and other state officials concerning this issue of a federal mandate.  Thank you for responding!  You made a difference!

Now there are twenty-one states in total standing up in different ways to this federal overreach!

In a news release on Friday, July 8, Stenehjem firmly stated:

“The federal government does not have the authority to mandate that North Dakota schools require students to share locker rooms and bathrooms with children of the opposite sex.”

“North Dakota districts, not Washington bureaucrats, are in the best position to make decisions that affect our students.  And in North Dakota, the local schools already review these isolated cases as they occur to establish, on a case by case basis, the appropriate measures to protect student privacy.”

The news release sent on to say, “States are threatened with a loss of federal funds if they do not comply with the federal Title IX mandate. When a federal agency takes such unilateral action in an attempt to change the meaning of established law, it leaves state and local authorities with no other option than to pursue legal clarity in federal court in order to enforce the rule of law.”

CWA of North Dakota is grateful for your response to our May E-Alert! Your calls to the offices of Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, State Superintendent of Schools Kirsten Baesler and Gov. Jack Dalrymple were heard.  We know our state leaders listened to your voice.
