Ohio Legislature Overrides Governor DeWine’s Irresponsible Decision to Veto Protections for Minors

Bill protects children from mutilating surgeries and female athletes from discrimination

Washington, DC – Today, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, praised legislators in the Ohio state Senate and House for overriding Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s veto of the “Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act” that would prevent doctors from maiming and mutilating children with puberty blockers, cross-sex hormone therapy, and surgical procedures on minors attempting to “transition” to the opposite sex.

Gov. DeWine vetoed H.R. 68 that was overwhelmingly passed by the House and Senate and supported by the people of Ohio, attempting to offer an Executive Order in its place.

“The Ohio legislature’s courageous decision to override Gov. DeWine to prevent children from being harmed or maimed by life altering medical procedures is to be applauded,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWALAC.

“Compassion does not allow an industry to profit from physically and sexually maiming a generation of kids being deceived about their ‘gender.’ Ohio’s medical lobby is making big bucks catering to their identity crisis.  They are not helping kids resolve the dysphoria when they are ‘transing’ kids for profit and long-term dependence on drugs. Ohio legislators thankfully put a stop to this.”

The legislature also passed the “Save Women’s Sports Act” that ensures that only girls are allowed to play in females sports.  Ohio is the twenty-first state to enact this type of legislation.

“Female athletes in Ohio will not have to face the insidious form of sex discrimination driven by identity politics that says a man who ‘identifies’ as a woman can invade their spaces, steal their trophies, their scholarships and their athletic opportunities in women’s competition,” said Nance. “We are grateful Ohio legislatures took a stand to protect fairness for female athletes.”

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee has been at the very forefront of this battle for our nation’s children by urging legislators and lawmakers to protect children from sexual exploitation and female athletes from competing against biological males on the playing field.
