The 2025 North Dakota Legislative Session ended in the very early hours of May 3, 2025. It was an honor for Concerned Women for America (CWA) of North Dakota to lobby before the 69th Legislative Body. We took a stand on multiple bills by lobbying, participating in coalitions, putting out e-alerts, testifying before committees, and sending email messages to lawmakers- all on your behalf. We were there representing YOUR voice advocating for children. Below, you will find each bill explained along with its outcome.
Bills signed into law:
- HB 1181: A person’s gender is defined as the individual’s sex. Karen Anderson (R-District19), who is also a CWA of North Dakota leader, was in the news as she gave testimony in favor of the bill. This bill was signed into law. Praise the Lord! Read more here.
- HB 1144: All multi-stall bathrooms or shower rooms must be designated exclusively for boys or girls. This bill was signed into law. Thank the Lord! Read more here.
Bills that CWA will continue to work on next session as they didn’t become law:
- SB 2104: Provided a financial penalty for school districts out of compliance with educational laws and rules. We supported this bill to ensure the Growth and Development of Human Sexuality Curriculum requiring a 4-D video to be shown in Health classes. This bill failed to pass in the House.
- HB 1456: Enabled school districts to hire certifiedchaplain volunteers to serve as guides and spiritual leaders within school communities. The bill failed to pass in the House.
- SB 2400: Created an Educational Savings Account for all public and non-public students in the state. The bill failed to pass in the House.
- SB 2307: A bill to remove explicit or obscenematerials in school libraries, with a penalty. The Senate failed to overturn Governor Armstrong’s veto. See our Press Release here.
Let us remember that God has told us how to enter the battle to protect children. “Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” -Ephesians 6:13
A special thanks to those who participated in our Encourage-A-Legislator program! Because of you, every lawmaker was covered in prayer this session! You faithfully prayed for our leaders and sent postcards with words of encouragement. We know that prayer changes hearts and minds, and it can even move mountains.
