CWA of California Recommends – SeXXX Ed Sit Out – February 19

By | California | No Comments

Are you concerned about the state mandated sex education programs in California’s public schools? Are you opposed to the radical “gender identity” lessons now being taught in your public schools? If you are, Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California encourages you and your school age child/children to participate in SeXXX Ed Sit Out, sponsored by Informed Parents of California (IPOCA).

The SeXXX Ed Sit Out is a response to the so called “California Healthy Youth Act” (2015) and the proposed Health Education Framework that the State Board of Education is set to adopt in May of this year. These programs indoctrinate our public-school children by teaching them in direct opposition to Biblical principles. They teach them about “gender identity” and “gender expression.” Instruction must recognize, in a positive light, the different “sexual orientations,” including same-sex relationships when providing examples of couples or relationships. Controversial sexual practices are taught while abstinence-only instruction is not permitted.

SeXXX Ed Sit Out
Tuesday, February 19

  • To participate in the Sit Out, IPOCA is asking parents to:
  • Submit the Letter to the Principal to explain their child’s absence on February 19. You can fax, email or hand-deliver this letter to the principal on February 19.

Pull their children from school with an unexcused absence so their school does not receive federal average daily attendance dollars.

Click here for more information (WARNING: graphic information about the sex education program content included.)

CWA of California is concerned with a variety of issues within the education system, such as the declining quality of education, deterioration of parental rights and authority, unbalanced presentation of America’s founding, the teaching of evolution and radical sex education.  With your help, we will continue to combat these Godless philosophies.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Please pray with us for the quality of education to be restored to a level of excellence in academic achievement without governmental mandates that are detrimental to our children and in direct opposition to the Word of God.

Prayer Volunteers Needed! Join the Encourage-A-Legislator Program!

By | California | No Comments

Dear Friend,

We are excited to continue our Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) program!

Our EAL program is one of our most important programs. When fully implemented, each member of our California state legislature will be lifted in prayer each month and receive an encouraging postcard.  The EAL program is not an expression of political or public policy views. It is a program for encouragement and prayer for our state legislators. The goal is to simply uplift the legislator and to remind him or her that they are being prayed for regularly.

It’s easy! You commit to adopting a legislator and praying for him or her each month. After praying for your adopted legislator, you will mail the CWA of California provided postcard that is pre-printed with a meaningful quote and a corresponding Scripture verse. Simply write a few encouraging words on the card or just sign it, affix a first-class stamp and mail the card.

Are you interested? Now more than ever our state leaders need our prayers and encouragement.

Prayer moves the hand of God in the affairs of this state and nation!  I Timothy 2:1-2 commands us to pray for those in authority, “I urge, then, first, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior …”

We are looking for your commitment today! Please reply by calling me at 760-825-9351 or emailing me with your name, physical mailing address, email, and phone number. I will then send you postcards and instructions.

Also, please visit our webpage to find out how you can become more involved in CWA of California.

You Can Oppose the Horrible Health Framework – in Sacramento and/or Right from Home!

A heartfelt thank you to all of those who responded to our last e-alert on the California Health Education Curriculum Framework by sending your opposing comments to the California Department of Education.

As I mentioned before, this framework indoctrinates our public-school children on gender ideology and gratuitous, controversial sexual practices information, and more, in direct opposition to the Bible’s principles. It is our civic and Christian duty to speak up. We must continue to maintain the pressure.

Please take action now!

  1. Video Lobbying: We have joined with other pro-family groups in a video project. Families opposed to the proposed Health Education Curriculum Framework across the state are uniting together in a video effort this week (January 21-25). The goal is to inundate lawmakers with heartfelt, informal, brief videos from parents, grandparents and concerned Californians expressing their opposition to the California Health Education Curriculum Framework. It’s easy! Using your mobile phone, laptop or tablet, simply record a 30second to two-minute video expressing your opposition in your own words. You can use the previous alert for talking points to assist you. Please do not hesitate to take this action, and ask others to do the same. Time is of the essence.

IMPORTANT FOR YOUR RECORDING: After you introduce yourself, state you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California and then complete your brief recording. Once complete, email your video to me by this Friday, January 25, at [email protected].

  1. Rally: CWA of California is joining with Informed Parents of California, along with several like-minded groups, for a rally day to oppose the appalling framework. Join us this Friday, January 25 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the State Capitol to oppose the proposed Health Curriculum Framework and the Healthy Youth Act.

We must step up NOW to stop this very dangerous curriculum framework and protect our children.  Help us show “strength in numbers” by attending the rally.

  1. Spread the Word: Please pass this e-alert on to others. Encourage them to both pray and act immediately.

Please continue to pray against this horrendous assault on our children’s innocence. Pray for you school board members and local communities to awaken and oppose the California Health Education Curriculum Framework.

Calling All Concerned About the Sexual Content of Proposed “Health” Education. Your Response is Needed by This Friday!

By | California | No Comments

We have a battle on our hands and just a few short days to do something about it. The California Department of Education is in the midst of revising the 2019 Health Education Curriculum Framework for California Public Schools, Transitional Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve (Health Education Framework).

Urgent: The Instructional Quality Commission will consider our comments about the framework IF we voice them by the end of this Friday, January 11.

We reviewed the framework, and we are very concerned to say the least! The framework indoctrinates our public-school children on gender ideology and gratuitous, controversial sexual practices information, and more, in direct opposition to the Bible’s principles. It is our civic and Christian duty to speak up.

Join with thousands of concerned citizens in a united voice against this anti-Biblical curriculum.

How to submit comments:

  1. Fill out the template document with your comments (found here under the “Revised Draft Health Education Framework” heading labeled “Public Input Template.”) Note: Though they ask for what school your child attends, know that they are taking comments from all California citizens. At the website link above they state, “The public review and comment period is an opportunity for any interested individuals or organizations to provide comments …” Therefore, if you do not have children in public school, simply state your name.
  2. Save the document.
  3. Email it to [email protected].

How to review document:

  • Go here and view it under the “Revised Draft Health Education Framework” heading.
  • Or, because it is 1,000 pages long, which makes it easy to overlook propaganda, I suggest you view these helpful sample comments. They were put together by a wonderful group of informed parents. You can simply copy and paste what you prefer. Note: Do not get overwhelmed by all the suggested comments. Simply pick and chose the ones you have time to copy and paste into your template. It is better that you do some than none.

Please join me in prayer, “Lord, it’s the very beginning of 2019 and the issues are heavy; the war on family, faith and life is ever-present. Please bless our efforts to speak up and take action on this important issue of education to protect the hearts and minds of our children.  We remain vigilant, suited up with the whole armor of Christ and deep in prayer for our children and the moral direction of our state. We love You Lord! In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Again, the comment deadline is the end of this Friday, January 11.

Please pass this e-alert onto others and encourage them to pray and take action on behalf of California children.

Thank you in advance for your efforts in protecting the children of California.

More Christmas Greetings From the State Steering Committee! (Message 3 of 3)

By | California | No Comments

From Angel Ashbrook, Communications Coordinator

What a great year this has been for CWA of California! Of course, there have been ups and downs, but your faithfulness to God’s calling is how we measure success!

I want to personally thank you for doing everything in your power to effect positive change. You have chosen to support CWA of California and to stay informed and educated about CWA’s core issues through our social media pages, emails, and website. Thank you for sharing what you learn with your community, your friends, and your family. Thank you for praying and seeking God’s direction and God’s will as you contemplate the core issues of CWA and apply your values to the battle for our culture in California. Thank you for putting your prayers into action by following through with calls and emails, and especially with your vote – urging your representatives at the local, state, and federal level to speak up for your values, letting them know for what you stand, and for what you will not stand!

It is easy to become frustrated or discouraged by what you see happening around you. It is particularly so in California. But remember that your prayers move mountains and your actions speak even louder than your words! Most of all, remember Isaiah 40:28-31, “The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will never grow faint or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out. He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even the youths may faint and grow weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.”

We have fought some heavy battles this year, but we have seen miracles happen because you asked the Lord to intervene. There is so much more still to come! I know you are concerned about the future, the world, and the legacy you are creating for your children. Continue to turn your concern into prayer. Pray unceasingly. Pray with expectation. Pray faithfully. Pray diligently. Turn your prayer into action. Be alert. Be informed. Be equipped. Be ready. Let’s finish this year with joy celebrating all we have accomplished together. Then let’s advance into 2019 on our knees and dressed in our battle gear – the full armor of God – because He isn’t finished yet and neither are we! May God bless and anoint each and every one of you!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

From Tracey Beck, Encourage-A-Legislator Coordinator and Records Correspondent

Can you believe it is Christmas time again? It’s time to remind ourselves and others of the true meaning of Christmas.

“It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes, or bags!” -The Grinch

It’s time to remember that God Himself came into this world to save all those who would believe. And His name was Jesus, meaning Savior because He would save the world from sin. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, I could not think of a better (and my favorite) “true meaning of Christmas” speech than that delivered by Linus of Charlie Brown fame.

Charlie Brown: “Isn’t there anyone, who knows what Christmas is all about?!”

Linus: “Sure Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about. Lights, please? And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them! And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all my people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ, the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men.’ That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. Nothing more, nothing less.”

May God richly bless you and yours this Christmas and always!

Merry Christmas From CWA of California Steering Committee! (Message 2 of 3)

By | California | No Comments

Ruth Smith, Southern California Area Director

What an honor and privilege it is to work with fantastic, Spirit-filled, powerful CWA women!  Although we can get discouraged when we see the direction that California is headed, we can also be encouraged because many more women are joining CWA as either chapter leaders or members. As Hudson Taylor, missionary to China said, “The battle is won on our knees.”  We can be confident that as we address our concerns, first through prayer, God is fighting on our behalf. If you haven’t joined a Prayer/Action Chapter, I encourage you to make that your New Year’s resolution! If there isn’t one in your area, would you consider starting one?

The Scripture that I am meditating on this Christmas season is Philippians 2:6-8, “Jesus Christ, who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God, something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness, and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross.” Join me in this meditation, therefore conforming our attitude to that of Christ Jesus!

Merry Christmas and may God richly bless you in 2019!

Sheri Miller, Executive Advisor and Prayer/Action Chapter Leader

I LOVE Christmas! But the joy I have all year is: “Immanuel … God with us” (Matthew 6:23). This year, Americans have been more divided, morally and politically, than we have ever known as a nation. But praise God for His presence with us through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, and Savior!

Praise God for the 40 year heritage of Concerned Women for America with a mission to protect Biblical values and Constitutional freedoms in public policy through prayer, education, and advocacy. I have had the privilege of serving CWA since 1995 in multiple leadership roles including eight years in North Carolina as State Director, and for the past two years, I have been honored to serve as CWA of California’s Executive Advisor and the last year as a Prayer/Action Chapter Leader in Irvine.

What a joy it has been to serve with the State Steering Committee under Marlo’s leadership. I have been privileged to lead the state quarterly prayer conference calls, to speak at some pro-life rallies and local churches about CWA, and to be interviewed on radio on the topic of Awaken Church-Vote Your Values.

CWA of California has been strengthened this year as it has served alongside excellent ministries and their events such as 40 Days for Life’s prayer vigils, Family Research Council’s Bus Tour – Pray Stand Vote, and over 500 Christians, at the Day of Action at the State Capitol to oppose AB 2943 and SB 320, and others.

Do not doubt it; God is with us, and God is with Concerned Women for America as we humbly pray … God will heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14). Keep the faith!
Carissa Campbell, our beloved Northern Area Director, will be leaving. She blessed our state with diligent efforts at the State Capitol meeting with legislators and staff on policy issues, hosting diaper drives to support pregnant women in need, as well as delivering baked Christmas cookies personally to our 120 legislators’ offices. Thank you, Carissa, for all your service!

Are You an Encourager? The California State Legislature Needs You!

By | California | No Comments

Dear CWA friends,

We are excited to continue our Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) program into 2019! For those of you who haven’t heard, our EAL program is one of CWA of California’s most valued programs. Though CWA members and friends regularly contact their legislators and pray concerning our core issues, the EAL program is designed to simply pray for and encourage the legislators with no mention of legislation or policy. The goal is to simply uplift the legislator and to remind him or her that they are prayed for regularly.

As CWA of California’s EAL Coordinator, Tracey Beck is committed to continuing to oversee this wonderful ministry.  She has a precious heart to not only encourage our legislators but to also encourage YOU!

Check out Tracey’s words to our current EAL encouragers:

As the Encourage-A-Legislator Coordinator for CWA of California, I realize that all of our actions must first be undergirded in prayer. We must be willing to prioritize our time so that we ask the Lord to guide us before we grab our keys and fly out the door.

Sometimes we get quite involved in the myriad of issues that come before our state legislature, making it all the more crucial for CWA of California’s Encourage-A-Legislator Program to be a key component.

I am honored to oversee this program. We have received wonderful feedback from legislators.  Now more than ever our leaders need our prayers and encouragement.

Please join us as we stress prayer as Priority One!”

Today is the Day, Election Day! Today is the Day the Lord has made!

By | California | No Comments

Good morning! “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).

Three things I would like to draw your attention to this Election Day morning:

#1 Pray.  Here is a wonderful prayer CWA put out this month for us to join in praying.  Very appropriate as we start this day.

… Keep our hearts steady in Your love as we navigate
The latest “newsy,” juicy outrage.
Help us keep our eyes up above,
Never intimidated by the mob.

We pray for leaders who will fight
For all that is good and true and right;
Who know Your Word is not a footnote;
For these, we pray and work and vote …

#2 Watch and Share.  Here is a stellar TV commercial that has just been brought to our attention.  It is with Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills.  It was miraculously produced and aired within just a few days last week. It is airing on the Fox Channel in the hottest contested districts in California.  It has been running since last Thursday and will conclude today.  Check it out and then share it with California friends and family via e-mail, Facebook, twitter, etc.!

#3 VOTE!  Don’t delay, get out and vote today!

Marlo Tucker
State Director
CWA of California
[email protected]

P.S. Oh, one more thing, earlier this month Sheri Miller, Executive Advisor for CWA of California, was on the radio program Life Line with Craig Roberts talking about the importance of Christian’s voting. Great interview. Check it out! Segment begins at 12:00.

Get Out the Vote with CWA of California!

By | California | No Comments

Dear friend,

As you know, we are at a breaking point in history where the rule of law and civil discourse are being threatened by some politicians and radical activists who insist on getting their way, no matter what. Some are actually inciting that violence to be directed at those with whom they disagree.

It is up to you and me to stand up to this mob mentality by praying against these malicious tactics and voting this November.  Will it be mob rule or the rule of law?!

There are three simple steps that can have a significant impact on our state and nation’s future. Please join us in carrying them out.

#1 Pray
As a Christian organization, we are first and foremost committed to prayer. As November 6th approaches, will you join us in praying for our state and nation? Please join us by setting a time daily to pray for this next election. Will you do that? Set an alarm on your phone, your computer, put a sticky note on your mirror, whatever works.

# 2 Encourage
As a Christian organization, we are committed to educating and encouraging others to vote. Will you join us in this? Encourage friends and family through Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.

#3 Vote
It is our duty, as citizens and as Christians, to participate in the process by both praying and voting. The institution of government was ordained by God as seen in Romans 13:1-4.

It’s that simple, vote. Vote on November 6th or vote absentee ballot. In California, early voting starts 29 days before and ends 1 day prior to Election Day. Any registered voters may apply for an absentee ballot and vote by mail. Deadline is 7 days before Election Day by mail or online. For more information, visit:

Pro-Abortion Bill Vetoed by Gov. Brown!

By | California | No Comments

Prayer Warriors! SB 320 was vetoed by Gov. Brown!  This bill would have offered chemical abortions up to 10 weeks of pregnancy to students on campuses of California State Universities.

Praise God this bill was vetoed!  Babies were saved!  Young mothers on campuses were saved from such harmful, even fatal procedures.  Thank you to all of you for praying and taking action! Your persistent calls and letters influenced our own California governor!

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

There are so many miracles happening in California! First with AB 2943 withdrawn and now SB 320 vetoed!

Stopping SB 320 has prevented so much blood from being shed on California campuses, and it has prevented so much harm from happening to California students. This is a big win for LIFE!!!  Let’s keep this in mind as we head to the polls on November 6.  We should put great importance on the influence of our votes.  Make sure you, your friends and family are registered to vote. California needs leaders who value life, faith and family!

Please take action:  Contact Gov. Brown and thank him for vetoing SB 320. He needs to know we appreciate this veto. Be sure to let him know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.

Pray with me, “Thank You Lord that Gov. Brown did the right thing and vetoed SB 320. This is so timely Lord, that this has happened during the 40 Days for Life campaign, where CWA has joined in commitment in prayer with heavy hearts for mothers, fathers and precious babies.  CWA joins 40 Dayan for Life to stand in front of abortion clinics to pray for life!  Thank You Lord for mobilizing our thousands of members across our state to unite with a strong voice to save babies!  Senate Bill 320 is no more. This is a great encouragement.” In Jesus’ name, amen!

Thank you al, for staying the course in prayer for faith and public policy!

Joyfully in Christ,

Both Pray for and Contact Your Senators

By | California | No Comments

“This I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for HIS compassions never fail” (Lamentations 3:21-22).

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support of Judge Brett Kavanaugh!  His wife, Ashley Kavanaugh stated the other day, “This process is incredibly difficult … Harder than we imagined. But at the end of the day, our faith is strong.”

And as Concerned Women for America, our faith will remain strong in support of the whole Kavanaugh family. We pray, and we act on our faith.  CWA’s Women for Kavanaugh event spoke truth to power in D.C. last week.  Please watch as our CEO and President Penny Nance spoke boldly to the issues and was joined by other outstanding speakers.  Click here to watch an inspirational summary of the event.  Penny Nance makes a powerful statement, “The minute we weaponize and politicize an important issue like rape, we degrade every victim in our country.”

Now that the FBI investigation has begun, what can we expect?  Click here to find out.

Please pray: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to, “Pray without ceasing.” Sen. Chuck Shumer (D-New York) says he will fight against this nomination.  Well, thousands of women across the country are fighting for this nomination!  We are standing our ground first and foremost through prayer.  It is vital that we stay in prayer for all our legislators and pray for Judge Brett Kavanaugh.  Pray for Sens. Harris and Feinstein by name.  Pray for Brett Kavanaugh and his family by name, wife Ashley and daughters Liza and Martha.  May the Lord draw close to all those involved. Pray that the schemes of the enemy will be uncovered and defeated.

Please take action:

  1. Call and email your U.S. senators. If you already did so a while back, call again. Let them know that as a member of Concerned Women for America of California you still stand with Judge Kavanaugh.  Consider making several points.  Click here for talking points. Our senators are getting countless kudos.  Please respectfully let them know that you do not approve of their current actions.

Sen. Kamala Harris

Sen. Dianne Feinstein

  1. Spread the word to friends and family, both local and out-of-state, to please call and write their senators. Please know that one phone call = the influence of 1,000 voices. Together, we can make a difference in numbers.

Click here for more information on this issue.

As always, I am grateful for your dedication and boldness to stand for your faith.  Let’s look forward to the Lord’s will being done.

Joyfully in Him,

Stand Strong with Kavanaugh

By | California | No Comments

Thank you so much for your commitment to pray and take action on issues affecting California and our nation. Today I ask that you join with me to pray and act on behalf of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. It is imperative that we do all we can for this outstanding nominee, for the sake of our great state. Because California has some of the most liberal laws in the country, Judge Kavanaugh getting confirmed could have a huge impact on pushing back some of our unconstitutional laws.

As you know it is our Senator that caused much of the confusion around which the Senate Judiciary Committee currently finds itself. It of course was Sen. Feinstein (D-California) who brought Christian Blasey Ford’s alleged sexual misconduct against Judge Kavanaugh to the committee only days before they were to vote.  Why didn’t she immediately bring it to their attention when she received it back in July? Why didn’t she ask questions during the appointed questioning and interviewing period? She could have questioned Judge Kavanaugh during her private interview with him, let along during the confirmation hearings, where over 1200 questions were asked of Judge Kavanaugh.

We would never want to overlook, diminish, or accept the abuse of women in any form. As advocates for women we do not condone any male taking advantage of any female.  Yet, the evidence before us is missing key details, therefore making it more than suspect. Ford may have experienced something awful, but not knowing when and where, conflicting details with the notes of her therapist and having never reported the alleged situation to the authorities in over 35 years, makes her account suspicious.

Please take a moment to read CEO and President, Penny Nance’s response in the USA Today: Kavanaugh, too? Christine Blasey Ford’s Account is Missing Key Details of Assault. Plus, watch her on The Ingraham Angel with Laura Ingraham on this issue.

We must wisely take into account the person accused. Judge Kavanaugh has gone through FBI vetting and has a stellar record at work and in his personal life.  Kavanaugh said, “I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. I did not do this back in high school or at any time.”

Until definitive evidence is provable, his impeccable public record of judicial prudence and the preponderance of evidence for his personal integrity requires the continued support of CWA of California for his appointment to the United States Supreme Court.

It is imperative that our Senators know where we stand.  They are getting a lot of kodos for their actions, they need to now hear from us.

Please take action:

Contact both of our Senators.  Respectfully let them know what you think of this situation.  Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.

Sen. Kamala Harris
Sen. Dianne Feinstein

Please pray: Pray for both our senators.  Pray their eyes will be open first and foremost towards the gospel. Pray their schemes to discredit Kavanaugh will be thwarted.  Pray Kavanaugh will be confirmed quickly.

Ask Gov. Brown to Veto Dangerous Bills

By | California | No Comments

We are so thankful that Assemblyman Evan Low (D-District 28), sponsor of AB 2943 decided to pull the bill from consideration after opening an important dialogue with pastors, former gays and lesbians and Christian counselors. We continue to ask for prayer for Assemblyman Evan Low as these conversations continue.

While AB 2943 is dead, there are many other measures of great concern that are now on the Gov. Jerry Brown’s desk. If they are not vetoed by the end of the month, they will become law. Please take a moment to contact the governor’s office and respectfully request he veto the following bills:

AB 2601 would require charter schools to include sex education in their curriculum, which includes the controversial California Healthy Youth Act (AB 329 passed in 2015) . Parents in school districts across the state have voiced concern over the radical sex-ed content and implementation of AB 329. This Act, that currently applies to public schools, would be applied to charter schools.  They would be required to teach about gender, gender expression, gender identity, and discuss the harm of negative gender stereotypes. Abstinence only instruction is not permitted. Instruction must recognize in a positive light the different sexual orientations, including same sex relationships when providing examples of couples or relationships.

AB 2119 requires minors in foster care to have access to gender affirming therapies upon request and the rights of parents and foster parents to help guide their children’s decisions are not specifically protected. Most children with gender dysphoria embrace their biological gender by the end of puberty. To provide hormone treatments and mutilating surgeries at a child’s request (a child who cannot, by the way, get a tan in a tanning salon even with parental permission) is hazardous to the very vulnerable youth we should be protecting and providing with appropriate counseling. Children are not equipped to understand the consequences of a decision that could make them infertile and dysfunctional sexually for the rest of their lives.

SB 320 would require all California public university campus health clinics to provide medication abortions up to ten weeks. Would require they dispense the RU-486 abortion pill. It would establish a College Student Health Center Sexual and Reproductive Health Preparation Fund to distribute $9.6 million to these clinics. Money from organizations and private citizens would be donated to this fund. There is nothing in the bill that precludes taxpayer money.

Take Action: Please contact Gov. Brown as soon as possible and politely ask him to veto these bills. If you like, make one or two points. Be sure to let him know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.

Call (916) 445-2841 and then click here to email him a contact form. Note, within the “Please choose your subject” field simply scroll down and click on the specific bill number.

Again, if these bills are not vetoed by the end of the month, they will become law.

Please pray that the governor will seek God’s wisdom and follow His precepts.

All for God’s glory,

Greetings Prayer and Action Warriors:

We work from victory and power from our Lord Jesus Christ!  Thank you to all who have fought the good fight by praying and taking action on AB 2943.  Today, the last day of the 2018 legislative session, Assemblyman Evan Low (D-Cupertino) withdrew his bill banning sexual orientation change efforts from consideration before its final floor vote!

Our widespread grassroots efforts throughout the state and country were successful. Our work in Him is not in vain!  God answers prayers!  Let’s be in an attitude of thankfulness and celebration that God answers the prayers of His people. AB 2943 is dead. Hallelujah!

Read Asm. Low’s statement here and pray for him.  Read today’s article in the LA Times here.

You were a part of this with your prayers, your calls, letters, and your donations.  Thank you!!  Please take a moment of silence and say “thank you” to our Lord for His goodness and mercy to California.

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

Thank you and God bless!

Will You Help Stop Abortions on California Public University Campuses?

By | California | No Comments

Dear friends:

The 2018 California legislative session is drawing to a close. There are just under three weeks until the August 31 deadline for bills to pass or die. Many key measures are awaiting hearings or are already on the floor

SB 320 would require all California public university campus health clinics to provide medication abortions up to ten weeks. It would establish a College Student Health Center Sexual and Reproductive Health Preparation Fund to distribute $9.6 million to these clinics. Money from organizations and private citizens would be donated to this fund.

This bad bill will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee THIS THURSDAY, AUGUST 16.

The committee’s chair, Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego), is a Catholic who has stated that she is pro-woman and pro-choice.

Please pray that Chairwoman Fletcher will seek wisdom from the Lord and know that baby girls – even tiny ones – are women, too, and in need of protection!

Please act.

1.      Call Chairwoman Fletcher and ask her to oppose SB 320. As committee chair, she has the ability to hold this bill under submission and not allow it to move to the floor. Be sure to let her know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of California.

Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher

Sacramento Office: 916-319-2080

San Diego District Office: 619-338-8090

Note: The Appropriations Committee is primarily concerned with the fiscal side of bills, not their policy merits. So, if you make additional comments when you call, you might mention: While SB 320 states that public universities are not “required” to use general fund moneys for this purpose, it does not exclude taxpayer funds or student fees from being used. Additionally, Californians would certainly bear the cost or any wrongful injury or death lawsuits brought against the schools.

2.      Call your own assembly member and ask him or her to oppose SB 320 if it reaches the Assembly floor. This could happen quickly if the bill passes out of committee. If you don’t know who your assembly member is or how to contact them, click here.

More about SB 320:

SB 320 states, “It is the intent of the Legislature that public university student health centers make abortion by medication techniques as accessible and cost-effective for students as possible, and thus public university student health centers should treat abortion by medication techniques as a basic health service.”

Abortion by medication is RU-486 abortion pill – a two-stage process in which the first pill kills the baby (up to 10 weeks gestation) and then the second, which the young woman self-administers, creates what is essentially a self-induced miscarriage. Young women will go back to their dorms or apartments, take the pill at the appointed time and experience the physical and emotional trauma of the death of their tiny babies and the sometimes very dangerous aftermath. The psychological effects can last a lifetime. There is no requirement for counseling young women with alternatives to aborting their children in SB 320.

Is this part of the mission of our state institutions of higher education?

Providing early medication abortions, even assuming the condition of ultrasound imaging to ensure the pregnancy is not ectopic, could be detrimental to young women’s health. Side effects can cause harm and be unsafe for the student undergoing this treatment. Physical side effects of the second drug include heavy vaginal bleeding (which could lead to the need for immediate surgical attention to stop the bleeding), cramping, nausea, fever/chills, vomiting, headache, and dizziness. Serious injuries, and even deaths, have been reported.  Emotional side effects include the trauma of witnessing the very early birth of a tiny dead baby in her dorm room or apartment.  This can be damaging to her for years to come.

Further, this bad bill would also put employees who are prolife in a position contrary to their closely-held beliefs. There are no explicit allowances to provide such rights of conscience in SB 320.

Please make your two calls as soon as possible. If you have additional time, below are some key members of the committee who should hear from concerned Californians asking them to oppose SB 320.

Rob Bonta (D-Oakland) 916-319-2018

Ian C. Calderon (D-City of Industry) 916-319-2057

Wendy Carrillo (D-Los Angeles) 916-319-2051

Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) 916-319-2049

Eduardo Garcia (D-Imperial) 916-319-2056

Adrin Nazarian (D-Van Nuys) 916-319-2046

Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) 916-319-2020

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ” (Colossians 2:8).

The California Legislature returns from its summer recess on Monday, August 6. AB 2943, the bill to ban counseling that helps individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction and gender issues, could be voted on in the Senate floor as early as their first session that begins at 2:00 p.m. THIS Monday.

Please join a statewide effort to call key state senators and the governor, asking them to oppose AB 2943.
