Defend Those Being Silenced for Defending Girls’ Sports

“God created mankind in His own image;
in the image of God He created them—
male and female He created them.”
-Genesis 1:27

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) continues to violate Title IX, and now the First Amendment as well. This past weekend at the CIF State Track and Field Championship, Sophia Lorey, a former varsity athlete and advocate for female athletes, was escorted out of the event. Her only offense was peacefully handing out bracelets and flyers in support of girls-only in girls’ sports.

She wasn’t disruptive; she engaged in respectful, thoughtful conversations. She stood for truth, yet CIF treated her like a threat.

After our side has testified before the state legislature, held press conferences, and shown up to CIF meetings, the governing organization for high school sports in our state is still allowing biological males to compete in girls’ sports. And now they’re removing women who dare to speak up. It’s not just unfair. They are now not only violating Title IX, but also the First Amendment.

This week, a male athlete won a girls’ event and advanced to the State Finals. In a last-minute attempt to make everyone happy, CIF awarded the first-place medal in the girls’ triple jump to both a girl and a boy. Yes, you read that correctly, we are now watching girls’ sports become co-ed in real time.

Even President Donald Trump weighed in:

“California… continues to ILLEGALLY allow ‘MEN TO PLAY IN WOMEN’S SPORTS.’ … This is not fair, and totally demeaning to women and girls.”

This has drawn national attention for good reason. Public figures, federal officials, and everyday parents are sounding the alarm. The Department of Justice has officially launched an investigation into AB 1266 and its violations of Title IX.

CWA of California has been on the front lines of this issue for years. We’ve stood with parents, athletes, and lawmakers to defend fairness, safety, and truth. Now, more than ever, we must speak with courage and clarity.

To every Californian: Are you okay with this?

Are you okay watching girls lose their spots on the podium and their right to speak up about it?

We’re not. And we won’t be silent.

We’re asking you to speak up now. CIF makes policies that impact thousands of student-athletes in California. Their choices affect whether girls are protected or pushed aside.

Here’s how you can take action:

  1. Email or call both the CIF’s Executive Director, Ron Nocetti, and your local CIF commissioner (e.g., Southern Section, Central, San Diego, etc.). Their contact information is listed below.
  2. Communicate a respectful message asking them to protect girls’ sports and listen to the people they serve.

Sample message:

Dear Commissioner (Last name),

I am a member of Concerned Women for America of California, which represents thousands of women across California. I am reaching out because I am deeply concerned about CIF policies that allow biological males to compete in girls’ sports. Girls are losing titles, scholarships, and opportunities to compete in girls’ sports.

This issue is not only about competition. It’s about fairness, safety, and the future of athletic opportunities for young women. Title IX was created to protect and promote those opportunities, not erode them.

I urge CIF to reconsider these harmful policies and restore integrity and fairness to girls’ sports.

Please stand up for what is right for fairness, for truth, and for the next generation of female athletes.

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
(Name)
(Address)

Please join me in a prayer for courage, faith, and righteousness.

Lord God,

You are the Author of truth and the Defender of the innocent. You created us male and female in Your image, with purpose and beauty. Today, we ask for Your strength.

Give us the courage to stand firm when the world calls evil good and good evil. Help us speak with both conviction and compassion, especially when the truth is costly.

Protect the hearts and voices of young women. Guard their opportunities, their safety, and their dignity. Let no fear silence those who defend what is right.

Lord, raise up leaders who honor justice. Give wisdom to decision-makers. And when we grow weary, remind us that You go before us—our Refuge and our Reward.

We trust You; we follow You, and we ask this in the mighty name of Jesus.

Amen.
