5,000 Signatures Needed by Friday to Stay in the Fight

Dear Friend,

As I mentioned a few months ago, Oregon is the only state that does not have any kind of regulation on abortion, despite the many efforts to persuade state legislators. Not one abortion regulation bill has been able to pass through Oregon’s legislature.

It is imperative that Oregon passes its first law to protect women and babies from abortion. To do so, Stop Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act has been formed— also known as Initiative Petition #1.

This citizens’ initiative will give Oregonians an opportunity to create the state’s first pro-life law! If approved by voters, the following will be added to the Oregon State Constitution:

“The state shall not spend public funds for any abortion, except when medically necessary or as may be required by federal law.”

At this point over 113,000 signatures, of the 117,578 signatures required to put this on the ballot, have been collected.  To insure these signatures are valid on the June 30 deadline, an earlier deadline must be met.  4,578 more signatures have to be physically collected before this Friday, May 25.  This is a requirement set by the Secretary of State.  Next month will then be used to come up with signatures to replace those that have been deemed invalid.

Please pray.  Ask the Lord to give the pro-life citizens of Oregon the strength to do all they can to collect the signatures needed by Friday.

Please take action TODAY:

  1. If you haven’t already, download the petition, print it, sign it, and mail it in.  It must arrive by Friday.
  2. Encourage others to pray, download the petition, print it, sign it, and send it in.  Contact friends, family, acquaintances, pastors, pro-family groups, etc. TODAY.

We have an opportunity here on which we cannot turn our backs.  The unborn of Oregon are counting on us!

“If you faint in the day of adversity,
Your strength is small.

Deliver those who are drawn toward death,
And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.
If you say, ‘Surely we did not know this,’
Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it?
He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?
And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?”
