Virginians: A Special Election Message from Penny Nance

Dear Fellow Virginians,

I have lived in our beautiful Commonwealth since I came as an 18-year old college student and never left. I am blessed by the people of our state and the many opportunities it has afforded me and my family.  But I write to you today with a heavy heart.  I fear that next week’s election has deep consequences for Virginians and particularly for our children and children’s children.  We are in a battle for the soul of the Commonwealth.  That may seem like a silly overstatement, but I fear it is not.  The Virginia House of Delegates and Senate are in play by one vote.  Our votes and prayers matter.

The question before us today is whether Virginia will become New York and California in our policies? That is why I am asking you to commit to pray daily between now and next Tuesday, November 5, concerning this critical off-year election. Each morning leading up to the election, I am going to send you a prayer intention for the day. I would ask you to read it and send it to other believers.  I ask you pray each day at noon or at another time you set.  I ask that if you are led to fast for a day or even a meal.

I cannot stress how important this election is to the future for our families in Virginia. We must join together in prayer for our state and our nation.  When asked what kind of government the Founders has created Ben Franklin replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”  This is how we keep it.

Prayer and Scripture focus for Monday, October 28:
Pray that the plans of the evil one will be thwarted concerning the election and praise the sovereign God of the universe that not one plan of His can be thwarted.

  • “For the LORD of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for His stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?” Isaiah 14:27
  • Then Job answered the LORD and said, “I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2
  • “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.” Proverbs 21:30

Thank you,
