SB 2400, the Educational Savings Accounts bill, passed the Senate Education Committee with a “Do Pass” recommendation! Thank you for contacting members of the committee!
On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Concerned Women for America provided testimony in support of SB 2400 which provides parents with more choices in their children’s education through educational savings accounts (ESA). The accounts allow the parent to be reimbursed for vetted educational services that meet their child’s educational needs. Such services include private tutoring, online learning programs, private school tuition, curriculum for homeschooling, and other educational materials.
Importantly, the money for the ESA would not be taken from funds already allocated to the public schools in per-pupil payments. The Senate Appropriations Committee has reduced this separate fund administered by the Department of Public Instruction. The range of reimbursement available per year for all students attending public, private, or home schools is now between $500 and $3,500 per student.
It has just been scheduled to be voted on TOMORROW, Friday, February 21, at noon. Your Senator needs to hear from YOU now!
