“Therefore, my beloved brethren whom I long to see,
my joy and crown, in this way stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.”
– Philippians 4:1
Is it true that hope is gone within the borders of Washington, D.C.? Never! It is with joy that I remind you our hope is in something immovable, in someone unchanging; thanks be to God!
As a D.C. resident, you may know the unfortunate darkness that moves over the streets of our city. We live in a place that champions pride, welcomes physician-assisted suicide, and celebrates abortion with no exceptions. The Lord has broken my heart for the state of our culture and, as I have continued to invest in this city and dig deeper roots, my heart has broken for those who hurt in D.C. as well. The growing brokenness in our city has tempted many who hold our values to give up on this place we call home.
But God! We serve a God who has wisdom overflowing – wisdom enough to build all of creation through His Word and carefully craft human life itself. Our God is powerful enough to build galaxies and still intentional enough to be the origin of our soul. This same God cares for each and every person here in D.C. He hears the cry of the heart that has been broken and can convict the minds of those who walk in darkness.
My friends, let the God of your soul be the source of your peace and encourage you to stand for the truth He laid out in Scripture. Even in D.C., it is possible for the God of Heaven’s armies to change hearts, convict minds, and save lives.
So, Concerned Women of D.C., my question for you is this: how might God be leading you to engage our city with the truth of the Gospel and the reality of this age as laid out since Genesis 1?
PRAY: Join me in praying for this place we call home. Pray for our Mayor, the Council, and all other leaders in authority in D.C. Pray for our community to grow in unity rather than continuing to divide itself and pray for our local churches to continue engaging our community and seek to be salt and light by sharing the full Gospel of God’s grace.
EDUCATE: Find out whether there is a Prayer/Action Chapter in your area, or consider starting one. Reach out to me, Abi Prudent, at [email protected] to hear how you can join the work of standing for Biblical values and our conservative principles within Washington.
ADVOCATE: Interested in engaging more? I would love to get on the phone with you, hear where your heart breaks for our city, and help you channel your passions into action. Start praying about how God would lead you to get involved, giving you clarity and peace rooted in Him, so you can boldly step into leadership with Concerned Women for America of the District of Columbia.
