I had my heart shattered. Praise the Lord for answered prayers.

While it may seem odd to sing praises for a broken heart, it is exactly what I have done. Nearly a decade has passed since I first learned of the tragedies committed through the hands of the abortion industry and organizations such as Planned Parenthood. I learned of the lies propagated to young men and women convincing them that their only joy, their only success, comes from the sacrifice of their child and full and zealous devotion to one’s self. I heard story after story of how this woman gave up her child and that man forced his girlfriend to give up hers. Oh, how the heart of God must ache seeing the gift of life discarded like scraps. 

I grew up as a quiet helper. I was excited about loving my neighbor as Christ commanded but only within the realms of where my comfort led me. I would seek opportunities, but being shy gave me parameters. As I have grown older and more passionate for the Gospel, the fact that there is a Savior who sacrificed His life to save us from condemnation, I also have grown passionate for the truth. I looked around and saw people hurting in so many ways and wanted to bring to them the hope I have in Christ.

So I prayed the prayer that so many have prayed before me, “God, break my heart for what breaks Yours.” I knew this was beyond asking God where I should volunteer or to what career I should devote my life, but still I had no idea where I would be led. 

My heart began to break for the family unit. For the children lost in abortion before they can take their first breath and for those who are peddled falsehoods about their identity. For the mothers who are convinced they are more valuable, more successful, in their post-abortive careers. My heart breaks for the fathers who are persuaded that they are better off without the growth that comes from paternal responsibilities and for those convinced they have no say in the matter of the abortion of their child. My heart breaks because there are hearts in need of healing and, instead, they are fed fabricated ideologies to convince them that “self” is all you need. 

And so the Lord equipped me. God gave me a voice and told me to speak. Now, instead of the fear I had that left me in a shy, quiet state, I have a passion for truth and using that to protect the dignity of life. 

The devastating legacy of Planned Parenthood grows with every passing year. This organization seeks more than just abortion on demand across the United States. Planned Parenthood has altered the perception of truth by shifting society’s view of parenthood, identity, and sexual health. Through demonizing standards for prenatal care, chartering abortion as health care in nearly 50 countries worldwide, and even creating curriculum for teaching children as young as preschoolers about gender ideology, Planned Parenthood has begun to amass the monopoly of morality for the family unit. With over $2.1 billion in income, $699.3 million of which came from American tax dollars, they have unfortunately succeeded in redefining what family looks like and the value of life. 

Yet, my heart breaks once more. It breaks at the fact that this misinformation has allowed this absence of morality to be deemed purely political when, in reality, it is a spiritual ache in our society, a sign of our need for God. So, I urge you to stand with us in prayer. Pray for God’s justice to be served and life to be preserved. 

With Concerned Women for America (CWA), I call for the defunding of “one of the nation’s foremost indoctrinating machines.” Recently, CWA and Young Women for America (YWA) grassroots leaders gathered in our nation’s capital to lobby our congressmen to cut tax dollar funding to this billion dollar industry that is destroying the American family. The process is still ongoing as the bill is scheduled to be voted on in the House this week and will then go to the Senate. So, with a broken heart and our hope set in Christ, let us continue to pray that we may see the end of taxpayer funding of abortion once and for all.
