On September 12, Judge Bruce Romanick struck down the state’s abortion ban, stating in his summary judgment that the law was “unconstitutionally void for vagueness.” His opinion wipes out all restrictions on abortion in our state and removes all protections contained in the law that had input and approval from the North Dakota Hospital and Medical Associations.
There is no justification for reversing our state’s abortion law, which represents the values of the majority of North Dakota citizens, passed through the legislative process, and was signed into law by Gov. Doug Burgum.
CWA of North Dakota is thankful the North Dakota Attorney General, Drew Wrigley, is committed to defending our laws which protect women and all life and plans to appeal Romanick’s judgment to the State Supreme Court.
