Event Descriptions:

Critical Race Theory Exposed with Dr. Mary Byrne, Ed.D.
Dr. Byrne’s presentation will explain how current events, most notably the recent violence ignited by claims of systemic racism, are grounded in critical race theory; and how critical race theory is grounded in Karl Marx’s writing instructing followers how to start a revolution in a nation.

Please plan to attend to find out what Critical Race Theory (CRT) is, why it is very concerning for our public schools, and what you can do to protect the children in your community.

Dr. Byrne’s presentation will reveal how almost two centuries of Marxism have infiltrated the U.S. government, the law, churches, the military, and education. She will explain how there is a current concerted effort to indoctrinate Missouri school children by instilling the Critical Race Theory curriculum into the public school system.

Dr. Mary Byrne, Ed.D., is a national speaker and co-founding member of Missouri Coalition Against Common Core. She has an M.A. in special education and an M.Ed. in curriculum and instructional design, and a doctorate in special education from Teachers College at Columbia University.

Protecting Young Minds Online Act with Alissa Johnson

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Missouri invites you to a presentation by CWA of Missouri’s Legislative Liaison Alissa Johnson, on the Protect Young Minds Online Act (PYMOA).

Alissa leads the CWA of Missouri legislative team at the Missouri State Capitol advocating for the passage of PYMOA – legislation that will require internet service providers in the state to add a filter to protect children from viewing pornography/obscenity online.

More than forty years ago, Missouri lawmakers created a Missouri statute that would make furnishing pornographic material to minors a Class A misdemeanor. The statute has never been updated to include the internet. Presently, minors are accessing pornography/obscenity via the internet on their cell phones, home computers, friends’ laptops/tablets, etc. The PYMOA will help remedy this.

Update on All Things Israel with Jon Bierman

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Missouri is excited to announce that Jon Bierman will be back with us to share what has been happening in Israel. There were a few good, calm years during the Trump Administration, but in the last eight months, things are once again erupting – from the change in Prime Ministers, the newly seated Knesset, continued threats from Hamas, and COVID-19 restrictions.

Jon has practiced law as a commercial litigator in St. Louis, first at the law firm of Gallop, Johnson & Neuman and then with Polsinelli, P.C. Bierman’s degree in history from Washington University focused on the history of the Middle East. He has a J.D., magna cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Law, 1998, and a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, 1995.

More about the event

The discussion of “All Things Israel” will include the results of the recent election. Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party were unseated after 12 years of service as Prime Minister. Netanyahu was replaced by Naphtali Bennet. Bennet assembled a fragile coalition of eight diverse political parties to attain power. He won by one vote in the Knesset vote.

Hamas recently depleted their stockpile of 4,300 Iranian supplied rockets, firing at populated areas, including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. During the current “cease-fire,” Hamas reverted to launching helium balloons carrying firebombs, along the Gaza border.

The chairman of one of the Arab political parties, in the newly seated Knesset, recently declared, “Jerusalem will one day be the Capital of Palestine. Our people will cause them (Jews) to be ashamed and withdraw from these places.” This indicates the new Prime Minister will be tested as he seeks to lead the State of Israel.

Israel is leading the world in Covid-19 injections, with a goal of 100 percent citizen participation. Policies that restrict employment, activities, and travel are in place. This has been a severe blow to their lifestyle, economy, and tourism business, which is most critical to the Israeli economy.

CWA Opposes AFT Anti-Semitic Resolutions

By | California, News and Events | No Comments

Concerned Women for America signed onto a letter to Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, concerning the recent adoption by two American Federation of Teachers (AFT) affiliates in California of anti-Semitic resolutions that falsely accuse Israel of “apartheid and war crimes” and that formally endorse the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) movement. The goal of the BDS movement is the destruction of Israel.

Israel and Hamas: The Truth Behind the Attack

By | International, News and Events, Support for Israel | No Comments

By Neydy Casillas, Esq., Vice President of International Affairs

Over the past few days, the extremist Muslims of Hamas have launched a terrorist attack on the people of Israel.

The current conflict began when thousands of Muslims sought access to the Temple Mount, located in the middle of Jerusalem, during Ramadan to pray. Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims who celebrate Muhammad’s first revelation. It is meant to be a month of fasting, reflection, and prayer. Yet, it has been quite the opposite. Israeli police limited the number of people given access to the temple, and violent protests started all over the city of Jerusalem. Hours later, Hamas began to launch rockets into Israel.

What is the truth behind this attack? The Palestinians were about to have elections for the first time in 15 years. These elections would have provided an opportunity for a new beginning within the region. The terrorists of Hamas recognized that this was a significant moment in which they could lose their power. To distract the Palestinians, they called on people to begin killing Jews. One of Hamas’ senior leaders preached on national television to “cut off heads of the Jews.” They took this as an opportunity to gain popularity among the extremist Muslim groups.

For the past few years under the Trump Administration, the region has enjoyed peace. The staunch support that Trump’s Administration showed to Israel kept the terrorist groups at bay because they knew the U.S. was supporting the Israelis. That same support has not been demonstrated by the current administration. On the contrary, Biden’s Administration started to negotiate with the Iranians. President Biden restored $235 million of taxpayer funds in U.S. aid to the Palestinians, including $75 million for economic and development assistance. Additionally, they sent $15 million in assistance to address the impact of COVID-19, money that was then sent to the West Bank and Gaza. An educated inference would be that this money has not been used to assist in handling the pandemic but rather to supply arms to these radical groups.

Israel has a right to defend its territory and its people, yet the media still insists they are the monsters in this situation. They present Palestinians as the victims and paint Israel as immoral for launching missiles and “killing innocent people.” This, again, is not true.

Israel has a sophisticated and very complex defense system. They have responded to the attacks by launching missiles targeting some of the leaders of these terrorist groups who launched rockets against civilians. The media also conveniently leaves out the fact that Israel provides extensive warnings to any and all civilians near any area they plan to target. There is no moral equivalence between Hamas’ attacks and the right of Israel to defend itself, as the Biden’s administration has insinuated.

Today, this wave of violence may seem like just another Middle East conflict, but it could quickly escalate to war. Christians and people of faith must be united in prayer for Israel and all the innocent people who are spending nights in bomb shelters being victimized by these horrendous attacks.

Pray for peace. Pray for Israel.

For America (Day 119)

By | News and Events, Prayer, Support for Israel | No Comments

A Prayer for Israel

Lord God, Yahweh, the Great I Am,
When I look at the hatred directed at the people of Israel,
I am reminded that they are Your people –
Those whom You have loved with an everlasting love.

“I will be the God of all the families of Israel,
And they shall be my people,” You said.
And we believe Your Word.
It is why the unhinged hatred towards them is not unexpected.

The world hated You. It hates them.
It hates us, your disciples around the world.
Yet our hope is secured in You as we trust Your words,
And we pray, through the Spirit, for Israel today.

We pray for their safety and for peace.
We pray for the mourning to turn to dancing in Jerusalem.
We pray that the plans of the enemy may be frustrated at every turn.
Oh, Lord of Host, we pray the world may see Your mighty hand through it all.

O Lord, save Your people!
We pray for the fulfillment of Your Word in our lifetime.
Help us to seek and to see truth, beyond the world’s lies;
You are the Way and the Truth and the Light.

Let the truth of Jesus Christ shine forth,
Keep us as the shepherd keeps his flock,
For we are vulnerable and weak, sinful and helpless
Yet, by Your Sacrifice on the cross, we are redeemed.

Through the blood of Christ, You have promised
Our souls will be like a well-watered garden,
And our sorrow will subside—Jerusalem will rejoice again!
May Your will be done in Israel today as in the days of old and forever more,

Amen.

A Historic Day Advancing New Hope for Middle East Peace

Washington, D.C.- Today, as Israel and the Arab nations come together at the White House to sign a historic deal in pursuit of peace in the Middle East, Concerned Women for America (CWA) CEO & President Penny Young Nance had this to say:

“Concerned Women for America is united in spirit under the banner of Abraham with Israel and the Arab nations who are embracing a new path forward toward greater security, stability, and opportunity for their people. Today’s signing of accords between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain mark a historic day in advancing a new hope for peace and prosperity in the Middle East. It is an honor to join the President and leaders of these nations for this momentous occasion. President Trump has proven his effectiveness as a leader of the world in forging new possibilities for cooperation and peace. His nomination to receive the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize is well deserved.”

CWA International: This Week in Washington, Support for Israel

Support for Israel

AIPAC Policy Conference

CWA International had the privilege of attending AIPAC’s (American Israel Political Action Committee) Policy Conference this week in Washington, D.C., to learn and celebrate the American-Israel relationship. Echoed throughout the general sessions and breakouts was the need to protect the bipartisan nature of our relationship with Israel and the importance of fighting anti-Semitism—there was a clear undertone, vocalized explicitly by a few speakers, of the dangers of Bernie Sanders’ statements calling AIPAC bigoted and Israel racist. Comments that Dr. Shea Garrison rebutted last week.

CWA received an invitation to attend the conference as a result of our collaboration with AIPAC as we take on these issues both on the Hill and internationally. Thank you for joining with us in standing with Israel and against anti-Semitism.

Talking Points on President Trump’s Peace Plan

You’ve heard us talk about the President’s Peace to Prosperity plan proposing a starting point for negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians, but now we have talking points to break it down for you. Shea has taken the time to clearly outline and articulate key components and contours of the plan. This way we can all understand it without having to read all 181 pages. Check it out here.

Election

Israel had another election this week, the third in less than a year. Incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin — Bibi — Netanyahu has won the most seats, but at the time of writing is still three seats short of the 61 seats needed to have a majority in the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. It is believed Bibi will be able to increase his coalition in order to reach the 61-seat threshold and maintain his seat as Prime Minister—but this year has shown that nothing can be taken for granted.

“Peace to Prosperity”—Trump’s Israeli-Palestinian Peace Plan: What’s in it and how should I respond?

By | Blog, International, News and Events, Support for Israel | No Comments

CWA has as its seventh core issue Support for Israel. Dr. Shea Garrison, CWA’s Vice President for International Affairs, did an analysis of President Trump’s Middle East Peace to Prosperity plan. We encourage you to read her talking points, and as you gather to pray, please consider praying over each point I-IV as the Holy Spirit leads you. Pray also that Palestinian leadership will one day come to the table in good faith with a spirit of cooperation and peace. Israel’s security and wellbeing are always at stake, and the Palestinian people deserve a commitment from their leaders to work to create peace and prosperity for all.

Historic Peace Proposal

By | Blog, News and Events, Support for Israel | No Comments

President Trump announced a historic new peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on Wednesday. He did this alongside Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, after meeting with Netanyahu’s political rival for the position of PM, General Gantz. Both Netanyahu and Gantz committed to using this plan as the basis for future negotiations with the Palestinians.

Trump’s “Peace to Prosperity” is the most detailed plan yet, professing to be more comprehensive and “realistic” than the Oslo Accords of the 1990s with the goal of safeguarding Israel’s security and bringing prosperity and opportunity to the Palestinians. This plan lays the groundwork for negotiations by diving into some of the most complex aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It aims not only “… to end the conflict, (but also) unlock the vast human potential and economic opportunity that peace will bring to Israelis, Palestinians and the region as a whole … given the realities on the ground and in the broader Middle East.”

Chief among these complexities are the suggested borders of a “realistic two-state solution” that gives the Palestinians self-governing authority but “not the powers to threaten Israel.” This is the first time Israel has agreed to tangible lines on a map as a starting point for negotiations in order to progress towards a two-state solution. A conceptual map of what a potential future state of Palestine might look like is included in the plan.

The plan centers on three initiatives to support the economy, people, and government of a “prosperous and vibrant Palestinian society”. However, there are preconditions the Palestinians must meet to be eligible for statehood. As a sign of good faith, Israel has agreed to a four-year freeze on settlements or development on land proposed to be part of a Palestinian state. This gives the Palestinians time to meet the requirements which include reforming their banking system, ending support for terrorism, building their infrastructure and civil society, and negotiating for peace.

The plan includes $50 billion in commercial investment in a future Palestine. This would cut the poverty rate of Palestinians in half which could also serve as a deterrent or alternative to terrorism with better options for the future. These investments would economically connect the Palestinians to the Israelis, as well as with the rest of the region and world. Economic ties disincentivize violence in conflict areas by creating a common interest.

Another historic milestone is support for the plan by Arab neighbors in the region. Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE are encouraging Palestinian leaders to use Peace to Prosperity as the starting point for negotiations. Ambassadors from Bahrain, Oman, and the UAE attended the announcement of the plan at the White House, reflecting how the tremendous importance of peace extends beyond the Israelis and Palestinians to the region.

It may be that current U.S. challenges with Iran ripened the timing of this plan. Iranian general Qassem Soleimani oversaw Iran’s control of Hamas and Hezbollah who operate and even run parts of the Palestinian territories. A peace plan, especially one supported by the Gulf States, diffuses and perhaps eliminates Iran’s reach into Gaza and the West Bank.

The President has taken decisive action in successive steps that curates an opening for peace. CWA International Affairs is assessing the historic plan and will look for ways to engage in its success. We ask that you pray with us for wisdom for the U.S. administration and for Israel, and that all parties seize this historic moment for the peace and prosperity of the Israelis, Palestinians, and the region.

CWA Supports the Trump Administration’s stance on Israeli Settlements

By | Blog, International, News and Events, Press Releases, Support for Israel | No Comments

CWA Supports the Trump Administration’s

stance on Israeli Settlements

Today Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared that the U.S. agrees with President Reagan’s administration that Israeli settlements are not inconsistent with international law.

Penny Nance, CEO and President, and Dr. Shea Garrison, Vice President of International Affairs for Concerned Women for America released this statement:

“We applaud Sec. Pompeo and the Trump administration for their right stance in declaring Israeli settlements in the West Bank, Golan Heights, and East Jerusalem consistent with international law. The U.S. will no longer view Israeli settlements as illegal, cancelling a legal position adopted by the U.S. State Department in 1978 by the Carter administration. We stand with Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East, who most closely shares our democratic values.”
