Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women for America (CWA), the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, whose CEO and President, Penny Nance and several staff members just returned from a week-long trip to Israel, strongly condemns the violent attack that occurred on June 1, 2025, in Boulder, Colorado, targeting a peaceful gathering organized by Run for Their Lives to raise awareness for Israeli hostages held in Gaza. The attack, which injured eight individuals, including a Holocaust survivor, has been described by the FBI as a “targeted act of terrorism.” This horrific incident follows closely on the heels of the tragic shooting in Washington, D.C., on May 30, 2025, which claimed the lives of two Israeli embassy workers, underscoring a disturbing pattern of violence against those connected to Israel.
The assailant, identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an illegal immigrant who overstayed his visa, allegedly shouted “Free Palestine” while using a makeshift flamethrower and throwing incendiary devices at the group. This horrific act of violence against individuals peacefully advocating for the release of hostages is an affront to free speech, religious freedom, and the safety of all Americans.
“We are heartbroken and outraged by the vicious attack on peaceful demonstrators in Boulder, Colorado,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America. “This act of terrorism, targeting individuals standing in solidarity with Israeli hostages, is a stark reminder of the rising tide of antisemitism in our nation. Violence is never an acceptable response to differing views, and we stand united with the Jewish community in condemning this hate-driven assault. We pray for the swift recovery of the victims and call for justice to be served to the fullest extent of the law. We will not stand by silently as violent acts of antisemitism become normative on American soil. This must end.”
CWA calls on all Americans to reject hatred and violence in all its forms and to stand against antisemitism. We urge local, state, and federal authorities to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable. Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and the Boulder community as they heal from this tragedy.
