Your Voice Needed! Pennsylvania Heartbeat Bill

By | Pennsylvania | No Comments

Your hands made me and formed me.”  Psalms 119:73a

Protecting life is a top legislative priority for Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Pennsylvania. The United States is the only nation founded recognizing life as an inalienable right.  There have been more pro-life laws passed because science is proving the marvel of life and human development at the earliest stages. Passing a Heartbeat Bill in Pennsylvania would help change the abortion laws and bring our state up to date with science.

HB 904, the Heartbeat Bill, sponsored by Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-District 76), and SB 378, sponsored by Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-District 33), would prohibit abortion once a fetal heartbeat can be detected (6-8 weeks).

Scientific progress has given us a window into the womb. With advancements in ultrasounds, not only do we know the life inside the womb is a baby, but doctors are able to perform life-saving treatment, even perform surgery, as with the famous cases of babies with spina bifida.

Heartbeat bills are saving lives and turning the clock back on abortion 50 years, proving that this is not a blob of cells or tissues, as some would argue. Hearing a fetal heartbeat proves the intrinsic value of human life and gives babies a voice that we should all hear, respect, and protect. Passing HB904 would protect the most vulnerable among us, help change the abortion laws and bring our state up to date with science.

Heartbeat Bill Moving! Act Today!

By | South Carolina | No Comments

We are in the final stretch of the Heartbeat Bill.  S.1, The SC Fetal Heartbeat Protection from Abortion Act passed the South Carolina Senate, and the life of the unborn now rests with the South Carolina House. If passed, S.1 would prohibit abortion once a fetal heartbeat can be detected (6-8 weeks) and would be the strongest pro-life bill passed in our state legislature.

The House is set to start debate this week, and we need your help to get it over the finish line.

Please take action!

  1. Call and/or email your state representative and urge him or her to support S1 and pass this legislation with no amendment. If you are unsure who your representative is, please click here. If you are a member of Concerned Women for America of South Carolina, be sure to let them know.
  2. Please forward this information to like-minded friends and family. Encourage them to pray and take action on this life-saving legislation.

Please continue to pray. Pray for strength for our legislature to stand up for those who are unable to speak for themselves. Please pray for your representative specifically by name as you contact them.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action.

South Carolina State Senate Takes Up Heartbeat Bill

By | South Carolina | No Comments

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” – Psalm 139:13

The South Carolina legislative session has begun, and Concerned Women for America of South Carolina has assessed and set its sights on the bills that we will support, as well as those we will oppose. The first bill we are supporting and very excited about is S1, The SC Fetal Heartbeat Protection from Abortion Act, the “Heartbeat Bill.” S1 would prohibit abortion once a fetal heartbeat can be detected (6-8 weeks).

We have all experienced the significance of a beating heart. Whether it is at the bedside of a loved one passing from this life into the next or in the doctor’s office hearing the heartbeat of a new life just beginning, with the passage of S1, that same indicator of life will finally be acknowledged and protected in the womb. The legislation would also be the strongest pro-life bill passed in our state legislature.

S1 is scheduled to be debated on the Senate floor this week!

Please take action!

  1. Call and/or e-mail your state senator and encourage him or her to support S1. Let them know that you want this bill passed with no amendments. If you are a member of CWA of South Carolina, be sure to let them know. If you are unsure who your senator is, please click here.
  2. Follow up with an e-mail to your senator.
  3. Please forward this information to like-minded friends and family. Encourage them to pray and take action on this important legislation.

Keep this issue in prayer. We pray that God will confuse the enemy and thwart their plans to potentially block this bill. Pray for your senator by name as you contact them. May he or she be wise and courageous.

For a summary of the proposed legislation, please click here.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action.

Georgia’s Heartbeat Passes!

By | Georgia | No Comments

We are thrilled to report that this afternoon, March 29, the Georgia House of Representatives voted 92-78 to send HB 481, the “heartbeat bill,” to Gov. Brian Kemp for his signature. The Governor worked to help pass this bill and is expected to sign it.

HB 481 will protect unborn children from abortion as soon as they have a detectable heartbeat (about six weeks). While not perfect, this is by far the most significant piece of pro-life legislation passed in Georgia since Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973.

Republican senators and representatives by and large held firm to their pro-life principles and withstood strident demands from pro-abortion forces (including Hollywood) to vote in favor of the culture of death. You can see the various votes here once the final vote is posted on the website. Please take a moment to contact the members of the legislature who voted YES and thank them for their faithfulness.

We encourage you to send a special word of thanks to the bill’s chief sponsor, Rep. Ed Setzler (R-Acworth), and Governor Kemp for all their work.

  • Kemp’s contact information: No contact form or phone number available. Please write to The Office of the Governor, 206 Washington Street, Suite 203, State Capitol, Atlanta, GA 30334
  • Setzler’s contact information: Phone 404-656-7857 | E-mail [email protected]

And thank YOU all for your calls, your emails, your Capitol visits, and especially your prayers to get this bill over the finish line. You made the difference!
