Stop Maine Abortion Providers from Receiving More of Our Tax Dollars

L.D. 1063, “An Act to Protect Substance-Exposed Infants,” now known as “An Act to Reduce the Number of Substance-Exposed Infants,” was carried over from last year, and a public hearing and two work sessions have already been held.  Another work session is scheduled before the Health and Human Services Committee for Tuesday, February 20, at 1:00 p.m.

Along with a new title, there have been suspicious text changes as well.  If passed, L.D. 1063 would now require state funds to “contract with a community-based non-profit organization to develop outreach and educational programs.”  Because both Planned Parenthood and Maine Family Planning support this bill, we can only suspect they plan to be considered recipients of such funds.  Therefore, CWA of Maine recommends that L.D. 1063 be amended to prohibit abortion providers from receiving funds.

Of course, we support assisting women and their children who have been exposed to harmful drugs, but we don’t support funding organizations that promote and perform abortions.

Take Action:

  2. Click here to contact the members of the Health and Human Services Committee. Ask them to oppose L.D. 1063 or pass an amendment that would prohibit abortion providers from receiving funds. Or, leave a message for the committee clerk to forward to all the committee members. Be sure to let them know you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Maine.
  3. Send this information to your friends, family, and neighbors and ask them to do the same.

Please pray with me:  “Dear Father, have mercy on the unborn children of Maine.  May our tax dollars not be used to fund organizations that destroy human life.  May the schemes of those who prize their rights of convenience over the lives of others be thwarted.  In Jesus’ Name,  Amen.”

You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to the idols.” – Ezekiel 16:21
