North Carolinians Respond To SCOTUS Decision: Marriage Cannot Be Redefined

By June 29, 2015North Carolina

CWA of North Carolina deeply grieves the June 26, 2015, decision by the Supreme Court in a
5 to 4 ruling legalizing same sex marriage in all 50 states. It is a sad day when America’s Supreme Court justices decide to redefine God’s law, the highest law of the land. Marriage cannot be redefined; it is and always will be defined by God’s inspired Word of Truth, as the union of one man and one woman.

The Court’s ill decision on marriage, brings to mind Romans 1:21, 25, “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, but they became futile in their speculations and their foolish heart was darkened … for they exchanged the truth of God for a lie ….”

The Supreme Court believes the lie that humanism, not the Christian world view, is the bedrock of Western values and law. We should not be surprised. For decades much of our justice system has been set against God’s law of life, marriage and religious liberty. It appears to the world that the Judeo – Christian values as established in America’s constitution are crumbling.

Yet as Believers we carry the hope of Christ in our earthen vessel, “we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing, persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed … so that the life of Christ may be manifested in our body.”
2 Corinthians 4:8-10.

What now?

CWA is committed to the Biblical principles of traditional marriage and the idea that it is “We the People” who should decide what marriage is, not unelected judges. North Carolina remembers May 8, 2012, when 61% of the people voted for a constitutional marriage amendment. Today, those voices for truth will not be silenced as we honor God’s law and definition of traditional marriage.

CWA of North Carolina will continue to stand strong together and pray for the restoration of God’s righteousness to our land and our laws. We will faithfully fight the battles for life, traditional marriage, and religious liberty.

“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near… Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered.” James 5:7, 8, 10, 11.

Join with us as we strive to be patient and to stand firm.

PRAY! Please pray that those suffering under the sin of disobedience will come to know Jesus Christ and come to honor God’s original design for marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Your faithful prayers and support are greatly appreciated, as together we make a difference to support traditional marriage, pro-life, and religious liberty legislation in our great state and nation.

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living; wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.” Psalm 127:13,14
