Judiciary Committee Needs to Hear From You!

Two important bills will be heard in the Judiciary Committee this Thursday, May 6, and our state legislators need to hear from you.

The first bill is L.D. 1401, a bill that would promote fairness in women’s sports. Fair competition and equality in women’s sports are being threatened, and this legislation will combat that. Individual male born athletes should not be eligible to participate on an athletic team that is exclusively for females. Read Concerned Women for America’s Protecting Women’s Sports CWA Fact Sheet for additional information on this issue.

The second bill is L.D. 1238, a bill that would prohibit men identifying as women to be admitted in women’s single-sex shelters. Women in desperate and vulnerable circumstances whose public voice is barely a whisper should not be forced to shower and share intimate quarters with biological men.

Concerned Women for America of Maine strongly support both of these bills, and we are asking you to make your voices heard.  As State Representative Heidi Sampson (R-District 21) so eloquently put it at the rally held at the State House this week, “We can’t do this alone. We need all of you to make your voices heard because we are in the minority and need your help.”

Take Action

  • Contact the members of the Judiciary Committee and ask them to support L.D. 1401 and L.D. 1238. If you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Maine, be sure to let the committee members know.
  • Contact Judiciary Clerk Susan Pinette if you wish to testify via Zoom or send a written testimony as a private citizen. You will be supplied with a link to the Zoom session upon reaching out to the judiciary clerk.
  • Forward this information to friends and family and ask them to do the same.

Please Pray: Dear Father, women, placed in shelters because of abuse by males must have the protection they seek and not be forced to share bathrooms and sleeping spaces with those of the opposite sex. Girls who work hard in athletic competitions should not be mandated to compete with men identifying as women. Please shine Your light on our culture and raise up Your people to stand up for You in the public square and protect women and girls. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

No one should put their faith in politics alone to solve America’s many problems, but without Christian engagement in the public square, things will undoubtedly get worse. Thank you so much for standing with us and helping lawmakers hear all sides of issues important to us.

“So, God created man in His own image; in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them.” – Genesis 1:27
