Gov. Mike DeWine Turns His Back on Children and Female Athletes

“Ohio’s Republican Governor Mike DeWine’s pathetic lack of will to sign H.R. 68, the Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act and prevent children from being harmed or maimed by life altering medical procedures is disappointing,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization.  “Compassion does not allow an industry to profit from physically and sexually maiming a generation of kids being deceived about their ‘gender.’ Ohio’s medical lobby is making big bucks catering to identity crisis.  They are not helping kids resolve the dysphoria when they are ‘transing’ kids for profit and long-term dependence on drugs. With the stroke of a pen, DeWine has chosen to unleash an industry to profit from unproven and unethical treatment. To add insult to injury, Gov. DeWine has turned his back on women.  There is no protection under Ohio law to ensure girls sports are for girls only.  Gov. DeWine’s veto of the Save Women’s Sports Act sends a clear and unfortunate message to Ohio’s female athletes that males who claim our identity can steal our opportunities and dominate our sports. We encourage and pray the Ohio legislature overrides this weak governor’s veto.”
