Great God,

We lift our voices on behalf of our country, America. Who are we that You should think of us and even care for us? You are the God of all creation, no matter how hard some try to ignore it. Every day we see Your workmanship and sovereignty displayed in the sky, day and night. They silently speak Your praises and Your strength.

Who are we that You would think of America? For the nations are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. Lord, You pick up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand (Isaiah 40:15 Psalms 8, Psalms 19). We are perfectly taken care of with oxygen to breathe, the photosynthesis through the trees to reproduce that oxygen, light for each day through the sun and light for the night through the moon and stars, the complexities of our bodies to give us what we need, and in Your wisdom You tilted the earth at just the right angle and speed so that our life would be sustainable.

The heavens belong to the Lord, but He has given the earth to all humanity (Psalm 115:16). All these things possess no soul, no will, and no voice, but yet display and acknowledge Your authority. How much more should we, who have a voice, and a choice to recognize the majestic nature of Your love for us. You went before us and allowed us to be a nation that fought for the freedom to worship You.
Now Lord, revive us again.

We have turned away from worshiping You and instead enjoy the vanity of worshiping ourselves. Lord, remind us to look at the obvious signs around us that give testimony to Your greatness. May America become the leader in making Your name known throughout all the earth through intelligence and academics, creativity and entertainment, sports and technology, and through the spread of the Gospel through Your Church.

Amen.
