Last week, Concerned Women for America (CWA) of South Dakota’s Legislative Liaison, Lisa Gennaro, traveled to Washington, D.C., to lobby Congress regarding the effort to defund big abortion. Joining Lisa from South Dakota were CWA’s Young Women for America Ambassador, Grace Sargent, and South Dakota Right to Life Executive Director, Jenn Lee.
Our CWA of South Dakota delegation joined other CWA grassroots leaders from around the country to tell Congress to “Slash the Cash, Save the Kids” in their budget negotiations.
Specifically, they visited the offices of U.S. Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds.
They encouraged them to:
- Defund organizations like Planned Parenthood and redirect their annual $700 million in taxpayer funds to life-affirming pregnancy resource centers and Federally Qualified Health Centers.
- End all federal funding for “gender-affirming care,” particularly for minors, to protect children from irreversible medical interventions.
- End this wasteful spending as part of the reconciliation package currently under review.
We are pleased to report that the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced a measure to block forced taxpayer funding of abortion businesses. They also prohibited the use of taxpayer funds for “gender transition procedures” on minors. Thanks be to God!
ACTION: As House members consider all spending measures, reach out to our U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-At-Large District) and ask him to prioritize stopping public funds from going to businesses that perform abortions.
PRAYER: Father, we thank You for life and for who You created us to be. Thank You that You created us to have a relationship with You. Please alert Congress to this truth and urge them to protect life as You created it. Help our nation uphold Your morality and truth that respects the dignity of the born and unborn.
