WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned Women for America (CWA) commended the FCC for prioritizing parental concerns that the TV Parental Guidelines are not helping parents make informed viewing choices for their families, and specifically that gender identity issues are being included in children’s TV programming without disclosure or transparency. The FCC issued a public notice requesting public comments with initial comments due on May 22, 2026, and reply comments due on June 22, 2026.

“Parents are tired of their children being exposed to LGBTQ+ content in children’s programming. Our recent research found that this content is shown without warning to unsuspecting children, primarily because TV programs are not required to disclose this information. The FCC is rightfully using its authority to evaluate whether the TV content ratings system should clearly label content that, by its very nature, deals with sexual themes in children’s television programs. If parents are to trust the TV content ratings system, TV programs must disclose that LGBTQ+ themes are in them,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America, and a former FCC special advisor.

CWA’s December 2025 analysis of Netflix programming rated appropriate for children revealed that 41% of G-rated series and 41% of TV-Y7-rated series contain LGBTQ+ content, showing that Netflix is an “active driver” of the LGBTQ+ agenda.

“The TV Parental Guidelines must be accurate, transparent, and held accountable to parents. The public must insist on this. Ideally, the FCC will lay the groundwork for a new, contemporary ratings system that reflects the realities of streaming, offers greater granularity, and provides parents with meaningful, consistent information. Right now, though, that choice is purposely being taken away from parents and children; instead, parents are learning of this content only after the fact, when the harm has already been done,” said Nance.
