Hundreds of leaders from Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWA) and Young Women for America (YWA) converged on Capitol Hill this week to lobby on behalf of mothers and their children.

Last year’s overturning of the Dobbs decision was a generational victory. But that was only the beginning of the fight to guarantee the right to life for all, including those in the womb and making sure no woman ever chooses abortion because they feel like they have no other choice. One challenge we face is that when many women find themselves in an unexpected pregnancy, they often feel pressured to choose abortion. Thanks to the millions of dollars Big Abortion has invested for decades marketing their business, most women know more about Planned Parenthood than they do the thousands of life-affirming resources that are available to them.

CWA President and CEO Penny Nance encourages leaders.

The hundreds of thousands of women of CWA and YWA are on a mission to change that. As a part of CWA’s annual Summit, ladies (and some like-‘minded men) flew in from all over the country to Washington, D.C., to lobby for The Life.gov Act . The theme of the event, based on 1 Corinthians 15:58, was “Strong & Steadfast.” And that is what we want to share with every mother in America. We want to empower them to be strong, steadfast, immovable, knowing that, despite what the media lies tell them, they are not alone.

The Life.gov Act would address that problem by expanding access to these life-saving resources for every mother in America. The bill would create a website listing local, state, and federal resources available to expectant mothers. All a mother would need to do is enter her zip code and then the website would pull up all of the resources located near her. Life.gov will be a one-stop-shop website listing everything from the local pregnancy resource center to food and nutrition assistance to adoption services to legal services. At no cost to the federal government, this website would give mothers the information to know they are not along alone, and it has the potential to save countless lives.

Over 200 CWA volunteers met with their Senators and Representatives on this important piece of legislation, holding dozens of in-person visits and making numerous additional office drop-offs. Women from all walks of life came to D.C. for this important event – from young collegiate athletes, moms juggling family life, even a former Sunday school teacher who got to meet with a former student now working on Capitol Hill! These ladies exemplified the fact that women in all stages of life, from all parts of the country, care about protecting the most vulnerable among us.

CWA leaders visited more than 100 offices in the effort.

The day was a huge success. The women started the day hearing from many pro-life legislators like House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Senators Marsha Blackburn, Cindy Hyde-Smith, James Lankford, Tommy Tuberville, J.D. Vance, Ted Cruz, and the main sponsor of the legislation in the Senate, Marco Rubio. After that, they took the Capitol by storm, speaking with their elected representatives and letting them know their passion and love for mothers in crisis pregnancies and for the dignity of every child, born and unborn.

Many leaders who could not make it to CWA’s Annual Summit where also engaged in prayer which is the backbone of everything CWA does. We are grateful for each of you. Thank you!
