Supporting Gorsuch is a No-brainer

By | Missouri | No Comments

Sen. Claire McCaskill is in a tough position; I understand that.  The left’s vitriol against President Trump is irrational, and so there is no argument that can persuade them to admit that he might do something good.

In the case of the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, their fake outrage is laughable.  Even before President Trump had made his pick, they were protesting at the Supreme Court with signs printed with “Stop” on the top and a blank space where they could write the name of whomever the president nominated – never mind the qualifications of a nominee.

With the same intellectual dishonesty, they are threatening Sen. McCaskill and other senators up for re-election, demanding they, too, act irrationally and oppose Gorsuch, no matter the evidence before them.

I sincerely hope Sen. McCaskill understands that this is exactly what Missourians hate most: the irrational partisanship that is the cause of the never-ending gridlock in Washington.  Try as you may, there is simply no rational reason to oppose Judge Gorsuch.

Longtime Democratic lawyer who served in the Clinton Justice Department David Frederick wrote just that for theWashington Post recently.  He said there is “no principled reason” to vote against Gorsuch.  Frederick admits he will disagree with some of Gorsuch’s opinions, but he knows he has an impeccable record, and he cannot be opposed as a nominee just based on that. He concluded saying, “[M]y hope is to have justices on the bench such as Gorsuch and Garland who approach cases with fairness and intellectual rigor, and who care about precedent and the limits of their roles as judges.”

Those who are bent on opposing Gorsuch were bent on opposing him before they knew who he was.  His record is not what they are challenging.  It’s not that they haven’t tried.  Some have actually tried to paint him as outside the mainstream.  It’s just that they have failed miserably.

Just last week, the left-leaning American Bar Association gave Gorsuch its highest rating: unanimous well qualified.

In a recent letter of support, more than 50 of his classmates at Harvard Law School, spanning the political spectrum, expressed their unwavering support for Judge Gorsuch.  They wrote:

We are Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians and independents; progressives, conservatives and moderates; religious and non-observant; married, single and divorced; men and women; straight and gay. … What unites us is that we attended law school with Judge Neil Gorsuch … and we unanimously believe Neil possesses the exemplary character, outstanding intellect, steady temperament, humility and open-mindedness to be an excellent addition to the United States Supreme Court.

In another letter supporting his nomination, more than 150 of his Columbia classmates sung his praises.  This was also an incredibly diverse group ideologically, but they stood “united in [their] belief that [Gorsuch] would serve our country with honor and distinction on the Supreme Court.”

Those are the facts.  And we know they are true, because we can see that same bi-partisan support in the U.S. Senate records.  In 2006, Judge Gorsuch’s nomination to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals (the second highest court in the land) was approved by a unanimous voice vote.  That means that not a single Democratic senator objected to any aspect of the life and record of Judge Gorsuch.

Among those present at the time supporting Judge Gorsuch: then-senators Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton, and current senators Chuck Schumer, Ron Wyden, Dianne Feinstein, Patrick Leahy, Patty Murray, and Dick Durbin.

So, there is just no credibility to the left’s arguments against Gorsuch today.  Supporting this nominee is as noncontroversial as any other vote in the Senate.  And Sen. McCaskill should not give in to the faux pressure from those intent on opposing anything even remotely related to President Trump, just because, you know, Trump.

Help Support Judge Neil Gorsuch

By | Missouri | No Comments

Dear Friend,

Missouri has a key role to play in the confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. We need Sen. McCaskill’s vote to ensure Judge Gorsuch gets the 60 votes needed in the Senate to confirm him as a Supreme Court Justice.
Click here to read state director Bev Ehlen’s article on why Sen. McCaskill should vote to confirm Judge Gorsuch.

He was confirmed by voice vote, without opposition, to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeal back in 2006 when President Obama, Secretary Clinton, and current Minority Leader Chuck Schumer were in the Senate.

Bev summarized the issue at hand perfectly, writing:

“President Donald Trump’s choice for the Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch, is the perfect example of a simple, nonpartisan issue that has become a battle simply because of politics.”

Call Sen. McCaskill, and tell her to put the interests of Missourians ahead of politics, and ask her to vote to confirm Judge Gorsuch as the next Supreme Court Justice of the United States.

Act: Use this link to our call script and phone number to call Sen. McCaskill, and ask her to vote to confirm Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Also call and thank Sen. Blunt for his support of Judge Gorsuch. For more resources on why Judge Gorsuch should be confirmed, check out our Legal Studies page.

Pray: For a smooth and swift confirmation process, as well as for wisdom for the Senate Leadership.

Thank you for your hard work! This is a team effort that will affect generations to come.
Yours truly,

CWA of MO State Director Bev Ehlen: Claire McCaskill should vote for the well-qualified Neil Gorsuch

By | LBB, Legal, Missouri | No Comments

President Donald Trump’s choice for the Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch, is the perfect example of a simple, nonpartisan issue that has become a battle simply because of politics. Playing politics on issues such as this is what disgusts Americans when it comes to Washington.

By all accounts, Gorsuch is a man of impeccable character and the highest of qualifications. Yet, he is being opposed strongly by the radical left because of, well, Trump. Ridiculous.

CWA of Missouri’s Easter Project-AD2017

By | Missouri | No Comments

CWA of Missouri has traditionally presented gifts to the members of the Missouri General Assembly to celebrate Easter and Constitution Day. This year for Easter we will be presenting the impressive coffee table hardback book Who Is This Jesus to each member of the Missouri General Assembly. Who Is This Jesus is an exquisitely illustrated story from Max Lucado which gives readers a new perspective on the depth of grace extended to all of us in the death of Christ. In this firsthand account, the earth-shaking events of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection are told by a Roman soldier who was assigned to work at Golgotha the night of Jesus’ crucifixion.  It’s a story brilliantly and reverently told as only Max Lucado can tell; this book is an unforgettable read and a gift you’ll want to give.

A Resurrection Day card bearing the sponsor’s name and address will accompany each book along with chocolates.

The gifts will be delivered to each member of the Missouri General Assembly at the State Capitol on Wednesday, April 12.

We are asking for $10 to sponsor your state representative or state senator. Please send the check to CWA of Missouri, P.O. Box 1352, St. Peters, MO 63376 by Friday, April 7. If you have question, feel free to contact Val Cummings at 636-359-0401 or [email protected].

Missouri Law Under Attack – Our Rights and the Rights of the Unborn are in Jeopardy

By | Missouri | No Comments

On November 30, Planned Parenthood filed a federal lawsuit to drop the Admitting Privileges and Ambulatory Surgical Centers requirements from Missouri Law.  Planned Parenthood states that if they win the lawsuit, they plan to open four more abortion facilities in Missouri in Kansas City, Columbia, Joplin, and Springfield.

Side note:  It has been uncovered that 911 calls have summoned emergency ambulances to the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in St. Louis 63 times since 2009, averaging one 911 call and ambulance response every 42 days.

On December 2, 2016, Alderwomen Megan Green, Ward 15, and Christine Ingrassia, Ward 6, filed BB 203, a St. Louis “Ordinance regarding pregnancy and reproductive health decisions as protected classes.”  In other words this bill, if it becomes law, would make opinions a protected class of people within St. Louis.

Here are just a few examples of what this bill will criminalize:

  • A Catholic hospital refusing to lease medical office space to a doctor who wants to perform abortions.
  • A doctors’ medical group rejecting as an employee a physician who wants to prescribe abortion pills to his or her patients.
  • A property owner declining to lease office space to the CEO of Planned Parenthood.
  • The Archdiocese of St. Louis or Catholic Charities (at least as applied to their City of St. Louis employees) failing to include in their employees’ health benefit plans, coverage for abortion (at any time for any reason throughout pregnancy), contraception, sterilization or artificial reproduction.
  • A pastor in a pro-life church demoting or reassigning the youth minister because he encouraged and paid for his girlfriend’s abortion, because that is an “adverse employment action” (as defined in the bill) against the employee.
  • A maternity home, pregnancy resource center, Catholic Charities agency, etc., firing a counselor or social worker who referred a client for an abortion.
  • A mom or dad denying parental consent for their minor daughter to get an abortion, because the parent would be “interfering with any person in the exercise or enjoyment of, or on account of his having exercised or enjoyed, rights granted and protected by this ordinance.”

BB 203 has been referred to the Aldermanic Housing, Urban Development and Zoning Committee.  They will decide whether or not to send this clearly discriminatory bill to the full board of aldermen.

Whether you are a resident of St. Louis or not, please take these steps of action.  They need to know that this kind of law isn’t acceptable anywhere within our state.

  1. Please contact Alderman Joseph Roddy, the Committee Chairman, Ward 17, and ask him to oppose BB 203. Call him at (314) 622-3287 and then e-mail him at [email protected]
  2. Call and email each member of the committee. Click here for committee names and contact information. Encourage them to vote “NO” on BB 203, a bill that clearly discriminates against people of faith and conscience and violates their freedom of speech.
  3. Forward this e-alert to friends and family and ask them to pray and take action on this important issue.

The same Alderwomen Megan Green and Christine Ingrassia are expected to file a buffer-zone ordinance in the City of St. Louis.  As reported by St. Louis Public Radio, the buffer zone will be modeled after the Colorado and Massachusetts laws in place.  The goal of these buffer zones is to eliminate free speech in a specific zone on public property.  The effect is that thousands of women will not be able to receive information and support from sidewalk counselors.

  1. Pray these setbacks will be overcome soon.
  2. Pray the lawsuit Planned Parenthood has filed will be defeated.
  3. Pray the eyes of the employees at Planned Parenthood will be opened. Pray they will see abortion for what it truly is and what it does to women, and then leave their jobs.
  4. Pray on the sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood nearest you. There are Planned Parenthood offices in Florissant, Gladstone, Independence, Joplin, Kansas City, Manchester, Springfield, Central West End-St. Louis, South St. Louis, and St. Peters.
  5. Please pray and act as these attacks on our rights and the rights of the unborn continue.

CWA of Missouri Ramps It Up Against Planned Parenthood

By | Missouri | No Comments

kmbc-9-planned-parenthood“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.” (Ephesians 5:11, 12)

Five simultaneous press conferences were held yesterday outside the Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbia, Springfield, and Joplin Planned Parenthood sites by Missouri citizens and pro-women leaders.

Concerned Women for America of Missouri Greater Kansas City Area Director Jill Noble was present at the Kansas City press conference. She was interviewed by KMBC News 9.  “We fight for the right of every human being, including the life of the unborn. Planned Parenthood claims to exist solely for the good of women’s health. Yet they are suing to avoid compliance with basic surgical standards! How can that be good for women’s health? Clearly, it isn’t if 63 ambulance calls are made to a single facility.” Click here to view coverage.

The press conference was called to blow the whistle regarding the following:

  • To publicize how Planned Parenthood affiliates filed a federal lawsuit on November 23 in a shocking attempt to nullify vitally important, very basic laws put in place by Missouri lawmakers to protect women’s safety and health. This action is another demonstration of Planned Parenthood’s staggering disregard for the health and wellbeing of Missouri’s women. Planned Parenthood’s desire to dodge basic safety practices which are being followed by every other surgical center in Missouri is startling and egregious, particularly in light of the fact that in July 2016 several Missouri state senators issued an explosive “whistleblower” report after investigating Missouri Planned Parenthood locations, using Planned Parenthood’s own internal documents to cite shocking indifference to women’s health, likely constituting medical malpractice.
  • To expose the unsafe conditions within Planned Parenthood facilities around the state therefore sounding the alarm to women urging extreme caution concerning Missouri Planned Parenthood facilities. It has been uncovered that 911 calls have summoned emergency ambulances to a single Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Missouri 63 times since 2009, averaging one 911 call and ambulance response every 42 days.
  • To demand a vigorous defense by state Attorney General Chris Koster against this willfully irresponsible suit, and that he demand an immediate revocation of the license for the abortion clinic at the St. Louis site while a thorough investigation of the 63 ambulance visits to Planned Parenthood is conducted by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Recently, two Planned Parenthood locations in Missouri were refused a new surgical license due to their inability to comply with the basic safety standards that all other surgical centers maintain throughout Missouri.  We celebrate this decision by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Please Pray: Pray that the things done in darkness by Planned Parenthood throughout our great state will continue to be exposed.   Pray that our efforts will be effective in bringing attention to the grievous actions of Planned Parenthood and ultimately, pray that lives will be saved.

 Please Take Action:

  • Contact Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster and demand a vigorous defense against this willfully irresponsible suit, and ask that he demand an immediate revocation of the license for the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic at the St. Louis site while a thorough investigation of the 63 ambulance visits to Planned Parenthood is conducted by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
  • Contact the following state senators that issued the “whistleblower” report last July and encourage them to continue working for the safety of women and babies. Click on their name to e-mail each one: Ron Richard (R-District 32), Sen. Kurt Schaefer (R-District 19), Sen. Jeanie Riddle (R-District 10), Sen. Will Kraus (R-District 8), Sen. Mike Kehoe (R-District 6), Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-District 15), Sen. Bob Onder, M.D. (R-District 2) and Sen. David Sater (R-District 29). Whether you are from their district or not, they need to know that the stand they have taken is supported and appreciated.

Thank you in advance for both your prayers and actions concerning the health of women and the lives of the unborn in Missouri.  Your involvement is vital.

For health and life!

It is Time to Pray and Act to Protect Missouri’s Religious Freedom

By | Missouri | No Comments

If we do not protect our religious freedoms, who will?!

SJR39 “Prohibits the state from imposing penalties on individuals and religious entities who refuse to participate in same sex marriage ceremonies due to sincerely held religious beliefs.” Click here to read the bill, check on its status and more.

Your state representative needs to hear from you on this issue!

Take Action: Please contact your state representative and ask him/her to support SJR39. “Pass SJR39 out of the House as it came over from the Senate.  Please don’t accept any changes to SJR39. To amend SJR39 is to kill SJR39.” Click here to find out who your representative is and how to contact him/her.

Note: If there are any changes made to SJR39 in the House, it will effectively kill the bill for this session and the opportunity to vote on it this year. The Senate used parliamentary rules to get it out of the Senate before Spring Break. They had to shut down a Democrat-led filibuster. If any changes are made to SJR39 in the House, SJR39 will have to go back to the Senate. To shut down a second filibuster on SJR39 just couldn’t happen, so SJR39 will die, and the people will not have a chance to vote to secure these protections this year. It would be two more years before the people could expect the opportunity to vote on this amendment. How many Missourians would be negatively affected in that time?

This proposed constitutional amendment prohibits the state from imposing a penalty on a religious organization who acts in accordance with a sincere religious belief concerning same sex marriage, which includes the refusal to perform a same sex marriage ceremony or allow a same sex wedding ceremony to be performed on the religious organization’s property.  The state cannot penalize an individual who declines, due to sincere religious beliefs, to provide goods of expressional or artistic creation for a same sex wedding or wedding reception.

Persons protected by this resolution may use the law as a claim or defense in a legal proceeding regardless of whether the state is a party in the dispute.

Nothing in the resolution 1. prevents the state from providing lawful marriage licenses or other marital benefits; 2. allows a hospital to refuse to treat a marriage as valid for the purposes of a spouse’s right to visitation or to make health care decisions; 3. shall create a cause of action against a private employer by an employee for termination related to the employee’s religious beliefs concerning same sex marriage.

Additional Action Items:

  • If time allows, please contact the chairman and members of the Emerging Issues Committee to which SJR39 has been assigned and ask them to support SJR39.  Click here for their names and contact information.  The message is, “Please vote do pass with no changes to SJR39. To amend SJR39 is to kill SJR39.”
  • Save the date: Tuesday, April 19 – Religious Freedom Rally at the State Capitol. Watch for more information to come.

Please Pray.  Pray that the plans of those opposing this legislation would be thwarted and that those in support of it would be bold and courageous.  Pray for each office holder by name as you contact them.

More information about this important bill:

A great explanation of SJR39 from our friends at the Missouri Baptist Convention and Pathway.

What does the Missouri Religious Freedom Amendment (SJR39) do, not do?

It is entirely defensive, a shield, not a sword. It prevents the State and local governments from imposing penalties on clergy, churches, religious organizations and some wedding vendors which, for religious conscience reasons, wish to not participate in a wedding involved two people of the same sex or gender.

Who is protected?

All pastors and staff, churches, organizations and institutions like church run children’s homes, church-run universities and all church-run schools. It even prevents accreditation boards, which are non-state actors, from indirectly allowing the state to punish religious belief about same-sex marriage.

The definition of “religious organization” is not limited to nonprofits. So, for example, a for-profit Christian book seller, Family Counseling Center, Crisis Pregnancy Center or Publishing House that holds itself out to the public as religious is protected.

Is anyone else protected?

Yes. For-profit businesses are protected if they are closely held and the corporation either is asked to be a participant in a “marriage” or wedding ceremony; or provides goods and services that reflect creative or artistic expression and are asked to provide such goods and service for a same-sex “marriage” ceremony or ensuing celebration of the “marriage.” This would generally include bakers, photographers and florists.

What does SJR 39 not do?

  • It does not provide protection for individuals, corporations, or religious organizations who discriminate against individuals on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • It does not protect any non-religious, for-profit business, unless the business is closely held and the business is asked to either participate in a same-sex “marriage” or wedding ceremony, or provides goods and services that reflect creative or artistic expression for the “marriage” or wedding ceremony, or ensuing celebration.
  • It does not prevent state or local government from providing a marriage license or other government entitlement to same-sex couples.
  • It does not provide protection for a healthcare facility or elder care facility to refuse to treat a same-sex “marriage” as valid.
  • It does not provide protection for any action that violates the U.S. Constitution or federal law.

Join CWA of Missouri at the #WomenBetrayed Rally at Planned Parenthood – St. Louis – Tuesday, July 28, at 12 Noon

By | Missouri | No Comments

Planned Parenthood
4251 Forest Park Avenue
St. Louis, MO 63108

In the last week, two undercover videos were released revealing that Planned Parenthood has been selling fetal organs from aborted babies. View first video.  View second video. In response to the outcry to defund Planned Parenthood since the release of the videos, Students for Life of America and other prolife organizations are launching #WomenBetrayed National Rallies across the country.

CWA of Missouri is joining with them to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH . . . Planned Parenthood has betrayed women. This is why we will be gathering together to protest Planned Parenthood. They have betrayed women, their children and their families – and they did it all with your tax dollars.

It is time to defund Planned Parenthood!

Please make plans now to join us on Tuesday, July 28, at 12 noon for the St. Louis Rally at Planned Parenthood on Forest Park Avenue.

Forward this on to your church, friends, family, etc. Strongly encourage them to attend.

Have you contacted Missouri congressional members and our governor concerning this issue yet? View our last two alerts on this issue and make your voice heart today.

CWA of Missouri Calls for Continued Action in the Allegations Against Planned Parenthood

By | Missouri | No Comments

A hearty thank you to those who responded to our last e-alert concerning the undercover video of a Planned Parenthood representative casually describing the harvesting of baby body parts. Since then another video has come out. View both videos here.

Republican Members of Congress have called for a Congressional investigation. This is a perfect opportunity for you to voice your support to defund Planned Parenthood at the federal level. Our tax dollars should not be used to support an organization whose practices seem to be following the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law if anything or breaking federal law at worst. Planned Parenthood is an organization which encourages unbiblical sexual behavior as well as abortion. Check out their website if you want to see who they are. Explore their website at Go to and the links to Sex & Sexuality and Sexual Orientation & Gender just for starters.

If you haven’t contacted Missouri’s two senators and eight representatives, do it right now by clicking here. The pressure needs to continue until an investigation is official. Encourage friends and family to do the same.

Let’s ramp it up!

Take Additional Action:

  • Please contact Gov. Jay Nixon at (573) 751-3222 or e-mail him at Ask him to investigate the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Missouri immediately due to recent developments. Then, encourage your friends and family to do the same.
  • Please contact Attorney General Chris Koster at 573-751-3321 or at [email protected] and thank him for calling for an investigation.
  • Please contact President Pro Tem of the Senate, Sen. Tom Dempsey at (573) 751-1141 or at [email protected] and thank him for taking this issue seriously and forming a Senate Interim Committee on the Sanctity of Life. The duties of this interim committee will include conducting an in-depth analysis of the Planned Parenthood business model and methods by which they dispose of human remains from aborted fetuses and determining whether any state dollars have been directly used in such activity, as well as other duties.

Pray: Pray that Gov. Jay Nixon will do the right thing and call for an investigation. Pray for Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services, who was seen on the first video. Pray for Dr. Mary Gatter, President of Planned Parenthood’s Medical Director’s Council who was seen on the second video released yesterday. As you can be sure, the stress in their lives has risen to a level they may not have ever experienced. May the Lord call them to the saving knowledge of His Son Jesus Christ.

“For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:22b–26

Added note: Some of you may have seen attempts by some liberals to deflect the claims made by those who produced the video. Read our response, The Left has Left out Details (Again).

CWA of Missouri SPEAKS OUT Against the Selling of Baby Body Parts

By | Missouri | No Comments

It is a federal felony to traffic human body parts! This week a shocking video from an undercover investigation shows Dr. Deborah Nucatola describing how selling the body parts of aborted children is part of the Planned Parenthood business plan!  View disturbing video..

Penny Nance, Concerned Women for America CEO and President, responded:

“Thirty to one hundred dollars; that’s the price Planned Parenthood appears to be profiting per dead baby. The recent video of Planned Parenthood’s senior director of Medical Services is just the latest in a laundry list of scandals, including aiding and abetting sex traffickers, giving sexual bondage instructions to children, cheating the government, sex-selection abortions, blatant racism, and the failure to report the molestation and rape of minors.

“There appears to be no depths to which this organization won’t stoop for money. When will the federal government wake up and follow the lead of the ten courageous governors who have cut funding to Planned Parenthood?

It’s time for Congress to say ‘Enough!’ If Planned Parenthood provides any worthy services, then they should have no problem raising funds like the thousands of other charities around this nation. Wake up America!”

Silence is not an option! Take action and pray on behalf of unborn babies!

Take Action: Contact your U.S. Senators and Representatives.

U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt –
(202) 224-5721

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill –

And then contact your U.S. Representative. If you are not sure who your U.S. Representative is, go to and to “Legislator Lookup” and fill in the blanks to find who you representative in the U. S. House is. If time allows, contact all of them.

U.S. Rep. Lacy Clay –

Pray: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-3

Dear Heavenly Father, the God of all creation, please forgive us our trespasses. We will no longer be silent. Boldly we speak the truth in love, knowing that Jesus is the victory. Please break the hearts of our leaders for what breaks Your Heart. Destroy the walls of deception and shine the light on the evilness of abortion. As we serve You, our Risen Savior, we call on the surpassing power that is from You, not us.

“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

CWA of Missouri Launches Constitution Day Project AD2015

By | Missouri | No Comments

Please celebrate Constitution Day by participating in our annual Constitution Day Project.

Each year we present a gift to each member of the Missouri General Assembly to help them understand and remember the importance of the U.S. Constitution and the freedom that it protects. This year we will be presenting three items. The first is a book titled In God We Trust. This inspiring book by John Hudson Tiner reveals the events that led to the phrase “In God We Trust” finding a place on American coins and currency. In addition we have included a pocket-sized copy of the U.S. Constitution as well as the “28 Principles” card by W. Cleon Skousen. These principles are what the Founding Fathers said must be understood and perpetuated by every people who desired peace, prosperity, and freedom. They made more progress possible in 200 years than was made previously in over 5,000 years.

The gifts will be delivered to each member of the Missouri General Assembly at the State Capitol on Wednesday, September 16.

We are asking $10 to sponsor your state representative or state senator.

The gift will bear the sponsor’s name and address so the elected official will know who sponsored their gift.

To sponsor your state representative or state senator for the Constitution Day Project AD2015,
contact Val Cummings at 636-916-3189 or [email protected] Please contact us by September 10 to participate.

Easter Project 2015 gift delivery day!

IMG_1464Encourage-A-Legislator Coordinator Ginger Yoak and her husband Jim, Volunteer Coordinator Val Cummings and Records Correspondent Diana Kaufman came to help Capitol regulars Legislative Liaison Sherry Kuttenkuler, Legislative Liaison Linda Laird and State Director Bev Ehlen with the delivery of the Ten Commandments plaques and Easter cards to each of the members of the Missouri General Assembly. The Ten Commandment plaques were well received. We had Legislative Assistants even asking how they, too, could get one, and we had some visitors to the Capitol stop by our work area to see what we were doing. Thankfully, we had purchased some extra so we were able to bless each person who asked for a Ten Commandment plaque that day.

A special thanks to Ginger, Jim, Val, and Diana for taking time out to help. We greatly appreciate every one of you!

The Truth Project

CWA of Missouri and Missouri Alliance for Freedom hosts the Truth Project on Wednesday mornings for the members of the Missouri General Assembly, staff members and individuals living near the Capitol. The week’s lesson was Sociology: The Divine Imprint – The order we observe in the natural realm is even more apparent in the social systems God has established: family, church, community, state, labor, and the union between God and man. Life is a series of relationships that flow out of and reflect the Trinitarian nature of the Creator.

Election Day

We are happy to report that the people of Springfield repealed the highly controversial sexual orientation gender identity ordinance that was passed by the Springfield City Council last year. The vote was 15,364 (51.43%) YES votes to 14,510 (48.57%) NO votes. It was close. We are so grateful for this victory. Many pastors in Springfield stepped out of their comfort zone and got involved. Thank you, Father God, for honoring these pastors and the people of Springfield with this victory.

Bev Ehlen took a break from CWA activities and traveled to SE Missouri to help a friend who was a first time candidate for school board.

Religious Freedom

Linda Laird was at the Capitol taking care of business. Linda attended the hearing on HB104 sponsored by Isaac Haahr (R-District 134) in the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee meeting. This bill prohibits an institution of higher learning from taking any action or enforcing any policy that denies a religious student association any benefit available to other student organizations. CWA of Missouri supports HB104.

Action Item: Please contact your state senator and ask him/her to support HB104 when it comes to the Senate floor for debate and vote. Click here to find out who your state senator is as well as their contact information.

Child Protection

Also heard in the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee meeting, sponsored by Rep. Isaac Haahr (R-District 134), was HB152 which expands the crime of sexual trafficking of a child to include advertising a child participating in a commercial sexual act. CWA of Missouri supports HB152. We expect this bill to pass without opposition.

The Truth Project

CWA of Missouri and Missouri Alliance for Freedom host the Truth Project on Wednesday mornings for the members of the Missouri General Assembly, staff members and individuals living near the Capitol. The week’s lesson was Unio Mystica: Am I Alone? Is it possible for the infinite, eternal Creator to dwell within the heart of an individual? The implications of this great mystery, which represents the very core of the Christian faith, are explored at length in this examination of the most intimate of the social spheres.

Educating the Legislators

IMG_1438Linda Laird and Sherry Kuttenkuler delivered the weekly handouts CWA of Missouri prepares to leave in each office of each member of the Missouri General Assembly. They had several interesting and engaging conversations with members as they went from office to office.

Linda and Sherry continue to do outstanding work as they track legislation, articulate CWA of Missouri’s position on many pieces of legislation and develop relationships with legislators and their staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Student Data Protection

Linda and Sherry then attended the Senate Education Committee meeting that afternoon where SB530, sponsored by Sen. Bob Onder (R-District 2), was heard. SB530 (the student protection bill) enacts multiple provisions to protect the privacy of student data. One of the biggest concerns we have with the Common Core State Standards Initiative is the data collection and privacy violation of the students. This bill will go a long way to protect the students in that regard.

Action Item: Please contact Sen. David Pearce (R-District 21) at 573-751-2272 and ask him to hold an executive session on SB530 and then turn it in with full support to be placed on the formal calendar for debate and vote. Then contact Sen. Ron Richard (R-District 32) at 573-751-2173 and ask him to support SB530.

Prayer/Action Chapter Activity

Bev Ehlen was in Washington, Missouri, on Wednesday evening to help the local CWA Prayer/Action Chapter start a study on The Five Thousand Year Leap. This is a basic study on the twenty-eight principles our founders used to frame our Republic and write our Constitution.

Action Item: If you would like to host a study like this in your area, find out if there is a local CWA Prayer/Action Chapter in your area and/or find out how to start a chapter, contact Bev Ehlen at [email protected]. We have this study and other DVD-based studies available to borrow.

Pastors and Christian Leaders Summit

Bev Ehlen attended the Pastors and Christian Leaders Summit in Lee’s Summit. President of Amerisearch, Inc. Bill Federer, Liberty Institute Attorney Kelly Shackelford, Pastor and National Black Pro-life Coalition representative Stephen Broden and others spoke directly to the pastors and the lay people attending regarding our responsibility to be involved in public policy and how to prepare ourselves for the immediate future especially regarding Religious Liberty and the growth of Islam – a religion with equal political and military components. Thank you to Dr. Karladine Graves for hosting such a terrific event.

The Truth Project

If you live close to the Capitol or are visiting for the day, join us for breakfast and a dose of Truth at 7:00 a.m. in Hearing Room 4 on Wednesday mornings. Click here for more information.

Action Item: Contact your state representative and state senator and ask him/her to attend on Wednesday mornings – especially Wednesday, April 15, when the lesson will be The State: Whose Law? and Wednesday, April 22, when the lesson will be The American Experiment: Stepping Stones. Both of these lessons have content that a public office holder needs to understand to fulfill their duties successfully. Click here to find out who your state representative and state senator are as well as their contact information.

Partner with Us

We ask for your prayers, financial support and participation. We are an all-volunteer organization. Each of the ladies travel to the Capitol, pay for gas for their cars and overnight stays, food away from home, etc. It would be great to have some individuals step up and “Sponsor a Legislative Liaison.” This money could go directly to reimburse a Legislative Liaison for some of her expenses. Think about it, pray about it and contact us should the Lord move you to “Sponsor a Legislative Liaison.”

The Bitter Irony of the Day of Silence

By | Defense of Family, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, News and Events, North Carolina, Religious Liberty, South Dakota, Virginia, Wisconsin | No Comments

What if I told you that pro-lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) activists are working tirelessly to infiltrate schools and influence children across the country? What if I said activists were taunting and bullying kids in public school and shaming them regarding their religious beliefs that favor traditional marriage? Read More

CWA of Missouri Silences the Day of Silence

By | Missouri | No Comments

The Day of Silence, organized and promoted by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), takes place this year on Friday, April 17. The Day of Silence is the king of all the numerous homosexuality-affirming activities that take place in public schools. It started in one university and then, like a cancer, metastasized to thousands of high schools and then into middle schools. Before long it will take place in elementary schools. Leftists know that it’s easier to indoctrinate 16-year-olds than 36-year-olds and easier still to indoctrinate 6-year-olds.

Silence the Day of Silence by participating in the ‘Day of Silence’ Walk Out.

Ask your pastor to write a letter to the local schools. Click here for a sample letter.

If you have school-age children, contact your administration as soon as possible.

  1. Ask this specific question: Will you be permitting students to refuse to speak in class on the Day of Silence? If the administration either answers “Yes” or dodges the question, please keep your child or children out of school on the Day of Silence. Every absence costs districts money, and money talks.
  2. Also, politely insist that an e-mail be sent to every family informing them that the Day of Silence will be taking place in classes on April 17, that some students will be refusing to speak during instructional time, that it is organized by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, and identifying specifically who is sponsoring it in your school. Parents have a right to know.

GLSEN promotes the Day of Silence as an “anti-bullying” effort. If it were centrally or solely about eradicating bullying, everyone — liberals and conservatives alike — would support it. But it’s not.

The Day of Silence exploits government schools, captive audiences, and anti-bullying sentiment to advance the left’s social, moral, and political beliefs and goals. GLSEN seeks to advance the belief that all public expressions of moral disapproval of homosexual activity are bullying.

GLSEN urges students to refuse to speak all day, including during academic classes, which is disruptive to instructional time. Administrators permit students to refuse to speak in class, and teachers feel compelled to create lesson plans to accommodate student refusal to speak. Teachers feel that if they don’t accommodate student refusal to speak, they will be seen as supporting the bullying of self-identified homosexual students.

The little unspoken secret is that many teachers on both sides of the political aisle hate the Day of Silence because of the distraction and disruption it creates. Unfortunately, they’re afraid to say that to their administrations because GLSEN and its ideological acolytes proclaim that opposition to the Day of Silence necessarily means endorsement of bullying. The truth is one can both oppose bullying and oppose the Day of Silence.

The homosexuality-affirming legal organizations Lambda Legal and the ACLU have both stated that students have no legal right to refuse to speak in class, so school administrations have every right to require students to participate verbally in class. And teachers have every right to require students to answer questions, give oral presentations or speeches, or participate in debates or discussions.

CWA of Missouri has endorsed the ‘Day of Silence’ Walk Out.

A coalition of pro-family organizations is once again urging parents to keep their children home from school on the Day of Silence if their school administrations will be allowing students to politicize instructional time by refusing to speak. This is the only organized national effort to oppose any pro-homosexual activity or event in public schools.

Often times parents of freshmen learn for the first time that the Day of Silence is taking place in their school when they hear about the ‘Day of Silence’ Walk Out. Even parents of sophomores, juniors, and seniors are uninformed. This lack of awareness happens because school administrations do not notify parents about The Day of Silence.

The absence of conservative influence within the culture on issues related to homosexuality is to some extent the fault of conservatives. Ignorance, fear, and an astounding lack of perseverance on the parts of conservatives have turned our cultural institutions — including public education — into the playground of “progressives.” Our passivity has enabled homosexual activists and their ideological allies to become social, political, and pedagogical bullies. Evidence of that is everywhere, including in schools on GLSEN’s annual April school event, the Day of Silence.

We must match — and exceed — the boldness and perseverance of the left if we hope to stop the relentless appropriation of public education for the promotion of homosexuality.

Stop the bullying! Join the ‘Day of Silence’ Walk Out.

Pass this e-mail on to like-minded friends, family, your pastor, and acquaintances.

Please pray and ask the Lord to silence the voice of those that promote unhealthy lifestyles – physically, emotionally and most importantly, spiritually.
