Celebration of Life Day
“Keep Missouri Pro-Life”

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Missouri recommends attending the Celebration of Life Day – “Keep Missouri Pro-Life,” on Saturday, June 24, in Jefferson City. This event is hosted by Missouri Right to Life.

June 24, 2022, was a momentous day for our nation with a pro-life victory in the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health case. With the Court’s decision, Roe v. Wade was overturned, and the power to protect life was handed back to the states. CWA of Missouri is proud to say our state was the first in the nation to ban abortion upon the overturn of Roe v. Wade. However, strong pro-life efforts must continue in our state. We will always work to keep Missouri pro-life as well as celebrate lives that have been saved.

Event Details:

Date: Saturday, June 24

Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Location: Missouri State Capitol, 204 W. Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO 65102. Meet in the first-floor rotunda.

There will also be an optional prayer walk through the halls of the State Capitol.

Springfield Prayer/Action Chapter Meeting June 17, 2023

By | Missouri | No Comments

Please mark your calendar to attend the Springfield Prayer/Action Chapter meeting on Saturday, June 17, 2023. We will be discussing the book Feisty & Feminine by Concerned Women for America CEO and President Penny Nance and taking time to join in conversation over some thought-provoking questions relevant to our study.

Our time together will also include discussions surrounding Title IX and Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee’s support of the federal Women’s Bill of Rights introduced by Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Arizona). The Women’s Bill of Rights resolution* is a definitive statement on the definition of sex and the legal protections women should have because of their sex.

We will be comparing the resolution to the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), whose supporters make the radical and extreme demand to eliminate the distinctions in law that are necessary to protect women.

Our meeting will be a time of education and discussion you will not want to miss.

Details:

Date: Saturday, June 17, 2023

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Location: The Baked Bean, 1860 N. Commerce Road, Nixa, MO (formerly the Walkabout Coffee Shop). Please arrive early if you would like to order coffee and a pastry.

MEDIA ADVISORY:

Concerned Women for America of Missouri Urges Gov. Parson to Sign Laws Protecting Female Athletes and Children from Gender Mutilation

Springfield, Missouri – Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Missouri applauds the Missouri General Assembly for passing two crucial bills that ban transgender girls from participating in female sports at the K-12 and college level and that protect children from harmful gender reassignment medical practices.

We urge Gov. Mike Parson (Republican) to sign both bills to show his support for fair competition and equality for all female athletes participating in female sports teams in Missouri and to show support in protecting minors who struggle with gender identity. Our state lawmakers understand biological females who train and work hard to excel in their chosen sport, strive for college scholarships, and compete on a fair playing field should not suffer the loss of those opportunities because a biological male who claims transgender status as a woman receives her spot. They also understand children struggling with gender identity should be treated with compassion but also protected from unethical medical interventions that ignore underlying causes, impede natural maturation, and reject long-term health and well-being.

CWA of Missouri State Director Tracy Dougan has this to say: “I am thrilled the Missouri General Assembly has passed both SB 39 and SB 49 today. It has been a hard-fought victory, and I cannot thank our supporting legislators and CWA of Missouri team and members enough for seeing this through. CWA of Missouri has worked hard over the past few years to educate our members and the public about the attack on girls’ sports and our children. SB 39 will ensure that female athletes will continue to be afforded the opportunity to compete on a level playing field. And, with the passage of SB 49, our children will now be protected from irreversible surgeries and radical treatment involving unverified medical interventions. This is a win for the girls and the children of Missouri. We urge Gov. Parson to sign these bills as soon as they reach his desk.”

Urgent Action Alert: Call and E-mail to Protect Missouri Children

By | Missouri | No Comments

We are heading toward the finish line, and we need a vote AND a win! The end of the Missouri legislative session is this Friday, May 12. SB49, the “Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act” that will ban experimental transgender treatments and surgeries on minors and protect taxpayers from paying for them is languishing in the House.

Read about SB 49 here.

We need SB 49 to pass for the safety of our children because:

  • No long-term scientific research exists to support the safety or efficacy of sex reassignment treatments on children.
  • Parents are being misinformed by an activist medical community.
  • Children and youth are not capable of informed consent.

CALLS TO ACTION

Contact Speaker of the House, Rep. Dean Plocher (R-District 89) at 573-751-1544 or [email protected]. Urge him to place SB49 on the House calendar for a vote. If you have contacted the Speaker previously, please contact him again.

E-mail, call, or tweet your State Representative through our Action Center HERE and urge them to vote YES on SB49, the “Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act.”

CALL TO PRAYER

Please pray for the passage of SB 49 and that the eyes of the members of the Missouri General Assembly be opened to see the need to protect the innocence of minor children in Missouri.

Thank you for acting and praying to protect Missouri children.

Sincerely,

Tracy Dougan

Urgent! Protect Missouri Children from Medical Mutilation

By | Missouri | No Comments

Concerned Women for America of Missouri is committed to protecting gender dysphoric children. With two weeks to go in the 102nd General Assembly, First Regular Session, we need your help to protect minor children from medical mutilation. Children struggling with gender identity should be treated with compassion but also protected from unethical medical interventions that ignore underlying causes, impede natural maturation, and reject long-term health and well-being.

“Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) agrees children who struggle with identity should be protected from harmful ‘gender reassignment’ medical practices causing serious health risks, irreversible damage, and increasingly, regret. Minors are incapable of giving informed consent to destructive medical interventions degrading their development and sterilizing their bodies,” said Doreen Denny, CWALAC Vice President of Government Relations. “Unfortunately, the Big Gender market is more interested in profit than ethical practice.”

Visit Concerned Women for America’s Protecting Vulnerable Children page for timely resources on this issue.

SB49, the “Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act” sponsored by Sen. Mike Moon (R-District 29), was introduced and endorsed by CWALAC to ban experimental transgender treatments and surgeries on minors and to protect taxpayers from paying for them.

The Senate passed SB 49 and was referred to the House, where it is now waiting to be sent to the House floor for a vote.

CALLS TO ACTION

Will you do these two things to protect Missouri children?

  1. Contact Speaker of the House, Rep. Dean Plocher (R), and ask him to place SB49 on the House calendar for a vote. E-mail Speaker Plocher at [email protected] or call his office directly at 573-751-1544.
  2. E-mail, call, or tweet your State Representative through our Action Center HERE and urge them to vote YES on SB49, the “Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act.”

 CALL TO PRAYER

Pray the eyes of the members of the Missouri General Assembly be opened to see the need to protect the innocence of minor children in Missouri.

Thank you for acting and praying to protect Missouri children.

Sincerely,

Encourage-A-Legislator Prayer Project – Missouri

By | Missouri | No Comments

Encourage-A-Legislator Program

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” – I Timothy 2:1-2

The Call to Prayer

I Timothy 2:1-2 instructs us to pray for our leaders. Concerned Women for America’s (CWA) Encourage-A-Legislator (EAL) program offers our members and friends the vehicle to do this in an easy and meaningful way. It ensures consistent prayer for each legislator, and it encourages and builds bridges with conservative legislators as well as those who do not normally agree with us.

Whether a legislator is a believer, non-believer, conservative, liberal, Democrat, Republican, independent, or other, they need our prayers. This next legislative session, CWA plans to deliver those prayers.

The Goal

The goal of the EAL program is to encourage each member of the State House and Senate by praying for them on a regular basis and sending them a postcard throughout the legislative session.

The EAL program is never used to lobby and, therefore, is never confrontational. It is simply a great way to lift up those in authority and encourage them in their responsibilities.

The Commitment

We provide the name and address of the assigned legislator(s) and the postcards, and you commit to praying for your assigned legislator(s) daily, if possible, while the legislature is in session, and then mail an EAL postcard bi-weekly until the conclusion of the 5-month session.

The Missouri Legislature

The Missouri legislature is in session from early January till late May and consists of 163 House members and 34 Senate members.

Answer the Call

Sign up today to be an encourager—it couldn’t be easier! Sign up by contacting CWA of Missouri at 417-766-2281 or by email at [email protected] and provide them with your name and physical mailing address. Be sure to specify how many legislators you would like to encourage. They will then enlist you as an encourager and send you a packet of postcards and instructions in early January.

Spread the Word!

Please encourage your friends and family to sign up.

Consider making this a family project by involving your children.

Print and distribute information about this great opportunity to pray and encourage your state legislators. Click here for a printable push card. Print them double-sided on cardstock or order them through the contact information above.

Good News – SAFE Act SB49 Passes in Senate

By | Missouri | No Comments

After an all-night Democratic filibuster in the Missouri Senate, the SAFE Act – SB49 was perfected with 23 of 24 Republican senators voting “yes.” The third read and vote happened on Thursday, March 23, sending the bill to the Missouri House of Representatives.

SAFE Act

Sen. Mike Moon (R-District 29) was the sponsor of SB49. This act establishes the “Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act.” Under this act, no health care provider shall perform gender transition surgeries on any minor. Until August 28, 2027, no health care provider shall prescribe or administer cross-sex hormones or puberty-blocking drugs to a minor for a gender transition unless such minor was receiving such treatment prior to August 28, 2023.

Through the perfection process, the bill was changed significantly.  The original bill included the following:

  1. Banned puberty blockers from children under 18 years of age.
  2. Banned cross-sex hormones from children under 18 years of age.
  3. Banned gender transition surgeries for children under 18 years of age.
  4. Consequences for breaking the law to be considered unprofessional conduct and the license to practice revoked.

The negotiations during the filibuster produced these three additions:

  1. A four-year sunset clause pertaining to puberty blockers and hormones was added.  On August 28, 2027, this provision of the ban will expire unless the legislators in the 2027 session make it permanent. Therefore, we will have to fight this battle again in the 2027 legislature if no approval is granted beyond the sunset date.
  2. A grandfather clause was added. This clause allows children who are currently on prescribed medications to continue the use of the drugs. In some cases, this is necessary for the safety of the children. Many of these medications can do harm if a child abruptly stops taking them.
  3. Cause of action for patients to bring suit against medical professionals if they are sterilized or suffer harm by any of these medical procedures. Patients who were harmed would be able to sue for an unlimited amount of damages prior to the age of 37 or 15 years after treatment has ceased if they are found to be sterile.

The SAFE Act Moves to the House

Rep. Brad Hudson (R-District 138) will handle the SAFE Act in the House.

I cannot express how much your prayers and action were a necessary part of the passing of this bill in our Senate. Your voice was heard!

Please continue to share this information and pray our Missouri Representatives will approve this legislation to protect our children.

Missouri Senate Passes Save Women’s Sports Act

By | Missouri | No Comments

The State Senate passed the Save Women’s Sports Act SB39, sponsored by Holly Thompson Rehder (R-District 127), with a vote of 25-8. Now the fight for female athletes will go to the Missouri House of Representatives.

About the Save Women’s Sports Act

This act prohibits a private school, public school district, public charter school, or public or private institution of postsecondary education from allowing any student to compete in an athletic competition that is designated for the biological sex opposite to the student’s biological sex as stated on the student’s official birth certificate or other government records as described in the act.

The act delineates what constitutes an acceptable official birth certificate. A private school, public school district, public charter school, or public or private institution of postsecondary education may allow a female student to compete in an athletic competition designated for male students if no corresponding competition for female students is offered or available.

Any private school, public school district, public charter school, or public or private institution of postsecondary education that violates this act shall not receive any state aid or other revenues from the state.

The parent or guardian of any student, or any student who is over eighteen years old, who is deprived of an athletic opportunity as a result of a violation of the act shall have a cause of action for injunctive or other equitable relief as described in the act.

Please pray our representatives will vote to protect women’s sports and stop efforts to erase women!
