WASHINGTON, DC – On the 4th anniversary of Roe v. Wade being overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court (Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization), Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) says that the U.S. government must stop allowing abortion pills to be mailed to women without an in-person doctor’s visit, and that life-affirming resources should be championed.

“The Biden Administration unlawfully allowed abortion pills to be mailed and used without requiring an in-person doctor’s visit, putting women in harm’s way and at risk of being coerced into taking abortion pills against their will. This continues, despite being in direct violation of federal law. The federal government must halt this reckless abortion pill access,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee.

“The abortion pill has often been administered without medical oversight and has been used to coerce women into believing that abortion is as safe and easy as just popping any other pill. Instead, women are left struggling to recover from the physical effects of Mifepristone on top of the psychological trauma of ending the life of their baby.

“More must be done to protect women and affirm life. Congress should pass the MOMS Act, which includes codifying the life-affirming portal, Moms.gov, to help mothers get the resources they need during pregnancy. Moms.gov is a critical support for expectant mothers, especially those who are facing unplanned pregnancies. We know pregnancy can be challenging, and mothers-to-be deserve access to resources, which Moms.gov provides,” she said.

A study from the National Institute of Health (NIH) found that 60% of women who had abortions would have preferred to carry their pregnancies to term if they had received greater support, resources, or assistance.

“Finally, Congress must once again pass legislation to prohibit big abortion from receiving over $700 million per year of taxpayer funds to prop up their disgusting business model that preys on vulnerable women. The Big Beautiful Bill successfully defunded Planned Parenthood and others, resulting in the closure of 57 abortion clinics. However, due to an erroneous decision by the Senate Parliamentarian this prohibition is due to expire on July 4, 2026, and must be reestablished. There is no excuse for forcing Americans to pay for other people’s abortions,” said Nance.
