“The education our children deserve is the kind no American should be deprived of.”
-President Ronald Reagan, September 10, 1988
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has opted her state into the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit, making New York the 31st state to participate following the release of final federal guidelines.
Now, attention turns to Pennsylvania. During a recent gubernatorial debate, Democrat Gov. Josh Shapiro said he had recently received the federal guidelines and expected to announce his decision on Pennsylvania’s participation in the coming weeks. Republican challenger Stacy Garrity said she would opt Pennsylvania in on day one if elected.
What’s at stake for Pennsylvania?
- 89% of Pennsylvanians support expanding tax-credit scholarships.
- 88% support Pennsylvania opting into the program.
- More than 1.8 million K–12 students could be eligible.
- Nearly $700 million in additional resources could be generated.
These numbers represent a significant opportunity to expand educational options and help families access the resources their children need to succeed. With federal guidelines now available, Pennsylvania’s decision could substantially affect educational opportunities across the Commonwealth.
Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Pennsylvania is urging Gov. Shapiro to enroll the Commonwealth in the program. We believe families deserve educational opportunities that best meet their children’s needs, without unnecessary financial barriers.
Take Action! Pennsylvania families deserve the opportunity to choose the educational path that best serves their children.
- Call Gov. Shapiro at 717-787-2500 and urge him to opt Pennsylvania into the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit. Let his office know that educational opportunity and parental choice matter to Pennsylvania families!
- Pray: Heavenly Father, give our leaders wisdom to make decisions that serve Pennsylvania’s children and families. May parents have the freedom and resources to choose the best educational opportunities for their children. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Let’s make sure Pennsylvania’s students have the opportunity to thrive.
