Abide In Me

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” –John 15:4-5 NKJV

Sometimes we feel like we have to do everything on our own. We worry, we stress, and we lose sight of where God is leading us. But in this season of growth, I’ve been reminded of the importance of abiding in His Word and faithfully doing the work He has called us to do.

Just as fruit begins to appear on plants in its season, the fruit of our labor becomes evident when we remain faithful. Whether we are serving in our churches, our communities, or our own homes, God honors the work we do for Him. When we offer our efforts to the Lord, He brings the increase. Our responsibility is not to carry the burden of the outcome, but to faithfully answer His call. When our work is rooted in Him, it will bear fruit.

We recently witnessed a beautiful example of faithfulness on May 7 when Concerned Women for America of Kentucky Prayer/Action Chapters held National Day of Prayer events in multiple counties across the state. Many leaders had concerns leading up to these gatherings — wondering whether people would attend, whether the weather would cooperate, whether materials would arrive on time, and whether speakers would be prepared. God moved in a powerful way. The Lord was glorified across Kentucky as voices were raised in worship, praise, and honor to God!

When you feel discouraged, remember that when you remain in His Word and continue the work He has called you to do, He is the One who produces the fruit.

PRAY

Father God, may I be faithful to abide in Your Word. May I always ask Your blessing on the service I offer. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself without the vine, may I remember whatever I do, to ask for Your guidance. May I always look to You in the times of discouragement and remember I can’t do this alone and, without You, I can do nothing. Bless the offerings of my hands and bless the fruit they produce. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
