Elections – Are they worth my time?

I’m sure many are asking, “Is voting worth my time?” The answer is YES!

One of the most important reasons to vote is that we are called to be faithful citizens of God’s Kingdom as we live and serve in the world around us. Philippians 3:20 reminds us, “But our citizenship is in heaven …” and Romans 13:1 teaches that governing authorities are established under God’s sovereign authority.

Throughout Scripture, God’s people were never called to withdraw from culture, but to stand for truth, righteousness, justice, and mercy in the midst of it. In California, where so many of the nation’s cultural and legislative battles begin, our engagement matters deeply. If believers remain silent, others will shape the future for our children, families, schools, and communities.

As citizens of the United States and the State of California, we have both the privilege and the responsibility to participate in our constitutional republic. Voting is one of the most practical ways we can be “salt and light” in our generation (Matthew 5:13–16).

Elections shape the direction of our state. They impact parental rights, education, public safety, religious liberty, the sanctity of life, the economy, and the values reflected in our laws and institutions.

I encourage you to prayerfully research candidates and ballot measures, compare their positions with Biblical principles, and seek the Lord’s wisdom as you prepare to vote.

There are three simple steps that can have a significant impact on our state and nation’s future. Please join us in carrying them out.

  1. Pray
As a Christian organization, we are first and foremost committed to prayer. As June 2nd approaches, will you join us in praying for our state and nation? Please join us by setting aside time each day to pray for the next election. Will you do that? Set an alarm on your phone, your computer, put a sticky note on your mirror, whatever works.
  2. Encourage
As a Christian organization, we are committed to educating and encouraging others to vote. Will you join us in this? Encourage friends and family through Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.
  1. Vote
It is our duty, as citizens and as Christians, to participate in the process by both praying and voting. The institution of government was ordained by God as seen in Romans 13:1-4. Voting in person as opposed to mail-in ballots is most effective.

Thank you for standing with Concerned Women for America of California as we seek to protect and promote Biblical values through prayer, education, and action. Your voice matters. Your vote matters. And when people of faith pray, engage, and stand courageously for the truth, we can help shape California’s future for generations to come.
