“If the Biden administration won’t step up to protect women in our communities from violent illegal foreign nationals, Congress will,” wrote U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina 1st), sponsor of the Violence Against Women from Illegal Aliens Act (H.R. 7909). The House passed the protection last week that clarifies domestic violence and sex offenses as disqualifying and deportable offenses for immigration purposes.
With the Biden-Harris border policies ushering over 10 million illegal immigrants into the U.S., crime continues to skyrocket, and women face the dangers of unsafe communities.
Earlier this month Amanda Kiefer provided live testimony to the House Judiciary Committee where she shared her story of an illegal immigrant fracturing her skull after stealing her purse. She told the Committee, “If we’re letting in any more criminals, that’s one too many. We already have enough criminals in this country, and we really do little to keep them from committing more crimes.” Her perpetrator had been arrested a few months prior to the attack but was released due to a then-District Attorney Kamala Harris program.
The violence against women continues across the country as the Biden-Harris Administration fails to keep criminals outside our borders. Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana 1st) highlighted the rape of a 14-year-old girl, five counts of child rape, assault of an 11-year-old girl, rape of a 14-year-old girl at gun point, and more. All of these offenders walked U.S. streets because of lax border control. Rep. Mace noted, “Every crime committed by an illegal immigrant on U.S. soil is a crime that could and should have been prevented.”
H.R. 7909 amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to clarify specific grounds for inadmissibility and removability for aliens who have been convicted of or admit having committed a sex offense or a conspiracy to commit such an offense. Rep. Mace is the sponsor of the Violence Against Women from Illegal Aliens Act with Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Arizona 5th) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado 3rd) as original co-sponsors.
The bill is among other “Anti-Woke Week” measures in the House last week including:
– H.R. 3724 – Accreditation for College Excellence Act of 2023 [End Woke Higher Education Act]
– H.R. 4790 – Guiding Uniform and Responsible Disclosure Requirements and Information Limits Act of 2023 [Prioritizing Economic Growth Over Woke Policies Act]
– H.R. 5717 – No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act
The Violence Against Women from Illegal Aliens Act gained bipartisan support and passed with 231 votes. Believe it or not, 158 Democrats voted against the legislation that deports sex criminals.
Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee continues to pray for the families and loved ones of those violated by or lost to continuing rampant crime, and we support Congressional action to restore safety in American communities.
