What if we prayed often? What if we refused to accept injustice? Would our lives be changed? As a true disciple of Jesus, we count the cost of commitment and in gratitude follow God. “And He said to them all, if any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (Luke 14:27) Through prayer and studying God’s Word, we learn to depend on God. Passion has been described as that for which one is willing to suffer.1 The foundation of CWA of North Dakota is Prayer/Action Chapters. Prayer brings passion for the amazing things of God! Action is where we bring the light of justice into our culture.

Think of the parable of the widow! In Scripture, the widow was often named along with the orphan and the poor, the least powerful people. An unrighteous judge did not stop the widow from seeking justice. How did she dare persistently petition a judge that did not fear God or care about man? Jesus teaches us in this parable that God comes to the aide of those who do not depend on their own strength. All mankind is like the widow, the orphan and the poor. We are powerless in our own strength. It is through the redemptive power of our Savior that we speak up for the victimized helpless in our society.

God help us to pray as well as speak of the atrocities of abortion. It is not okay to be silent and let others do the speaking. For many are called, but few are willing. Can we depend on the main-line church leaders to speak up for life? No! Not when there are many church leaders who justify abortion. No! Not when church monies are sometimes used to cover clergy health care abortion services. No! Not when the some church authorities prohibit pro-life preaching from the pulpit.

God’s Kingdom of Righteousness exists in great contrast to the devil’s design. “The scoundrel’s methods are wicked; he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just. But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands.” Isaiah 32:7, 8

We live in a society in which the media turns a blind eye to the ungodly, horrific practice of partial-birth abortion. It wasn’t until the outcry became overwhelming that the trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell became part of the mainstream media news. Even then, it receives very little attention. “This case is about a doctor who killed babies and endangered women. What we mean is that he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable babies in the third trimester of pregnancy. Charged with seven counts of first-degree murder, Dr. Gosnell is now standing trial in a Philadelphia courtroom.”
