Voting Basics for North Dakota

By September 27, 2024North Dakota

The 2024 elections are approaching, and we need your help to ensure that every eligible vote counts in North Dakota!  Here are ways to engage!

  1. Serve as a poll watcher during early voting (in some districts) and on Election Day. Reach out to your local Republican or Democrat parties for information on qualifications on how to apply.
  2. Serve as Election Officer (poll worker). Find information on being a poll worker in your community, including requirements, training and more here.
  3. North Dakota residents do not register to vote. Information including, “Where do I vote?” and “What’s on my ballot?” can be found on the North Dakota Secretary of State’s website Vote.nd.gov
  4. Be an informed voter by checking out iVoterGuide.

To be eligible to vote, a Driver’s License or ID with current address is required.  An individual must be a citizen of the US, a resident of ND for 30 days before an election and be 18 years of age or older. Any qualified voter is eligible to vote absentee.

A resident may apply for an absentee ballot at any time during the calendar year.  Download and print application here.
