It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Congressman Doug LaMalfa, a true public servant, a man of moral courage, and a steadfast defender of Biblical values in California and across our nation.
Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California’s Legislative Liaison, Rochelle Conner, remembers leading a delegation of California CWA and Young Women for America (YWA) members to his Washington, D.C. office in 2022 to lobby for the Life.gov bill. She recalls the warmth of his staff, the privilege of praying over them, and the unmistakable conviction with which they served. “Congressman LaMalfa was a true Christian supporter,” she shared. “His voice in Washington will be greatly missed.”
I echo her sentiments wholeheartedly. In this line of work, we have the blessing of working alongside remarkable leaders in public policy—but meeting and partnering with Congressman LaMalfa truly stood apart. I had the pleasure of meeting with his staff again last September (2025) on Capitol Hill to advocate for life and to personally express our gratitude for Congressman LaMalfa and his team. Their integrity, respect for human life at every stage, and unwavering commitment to Biblical truth left a profound impression on me.
One moment will remain with me always:
Congressman LaMalfa was physically in attendance when CWA stood in Sacramento to oppose Assembly Bill (AB) 2223. It is rare to see a U.S. Representative show up at a state-level hearing—but he did. He came. He stood where we stood. He listened to our testimonies. And he made it clear, simply by his presence, that the lives of infants and the protection of California families were not political talking points—they were moral imperatives worth fighting for every day.
AB 2223 was one of the most troubling pieces of legislation we faced in 2022. Even after amendments, the bill created dangerous legal shields around perinatal death and removed critical protections for newborns. The fact that Congressman LaMalfa chose to be present in Sacramento during that pivotal moment spoke volumes. He did not just articulate pro-life values—he embodied them. He stood shoulder to shoulder with parents, pastors, young women, and advocates who were pleading for the protection of California’s most vulnerable.
Seeing him there strengthened our movement. It encouraged our members. It reminded every California mother and grandmother watching that righteous leadership still exists.
President Trump expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of “a great member—great, great, great member, Congressman Doug LaMalfa. He was the leader of the Western Caucus, a fierce champion on California water issues … and a true defender of American children. He was a defender of everybody.”
We agree. Congressman LaMalfa and his team were a beacon of integrity, a light for us in California, representing our values with courage in a climate where courage is often costly. His advocacy made a difference. His conviction strengthened us. His faith informed everything he did. And his absence will be felt deeply by all who labor to defend life in our state.

Please join us in praying for his family, his staff, and all who served alongside him.
May the Lord comfort them, sustain them, and surround them with peace.
And may God raise up new leaders who carry the same clarity, courage, and compassion that Congressman Doug LaMalfa modeled with such faithfulness.
