R&B artist Tish Hyman reported a man in the women’s locker room at her Los Angeles gym. She says she and other women had filed written complaints, and nothing was done. When she finally spoke up loudly, the gym canceled her membership and had police escort her out. The woman who asked for protection was punished for asking.

Tish’s story is not isolated. Across California, women and girls are being asked to give up their safety, privacy, and opportunities:
- In sports, male athletes have won girls’ state titles, and officials handed out extra medals instead of fixing the rules.
- In prisons, a state law now allows male inmates to transfer into women’s facilities. One inmate transferred to the Chowchilla women’s prison faces multiple forcible rape charges, and in March 2026, the U.S. Justice Department opened an investigation into both California women’s prisons. HOW YOU CAN HELP
Tish said she can’t do this alone. Neither can we. When women speak up, they are too often the ones punished. This must change. Join a Prayer/Action Chapter near you, where we pray for women and girls, stay informed, and take simple steps together, like contacting lawmakers and standing with women who speak out.
California’s current policies put women and girls at risk and violate Title IX, the federal law that guarantees girls equal opportunity in school sports. In 2026, the Supreme Court agreed that states may keep girls’ sports for girls (West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox). The administration has also ordered federal agencies to protect girls’ teams and locker rooms.
Washington is taking this seriously. In 2025, the Justice Department sued California over these policies. A judge dismissed the case in August, but mainly because the state hadn’t been clearly warned first. Now it has. It’s time for California’s leaders to act.

Let’s Pray Together
Heavenly Father, You are a God of justice. Where women have been denied safety, privacy, opportunity, and a voice, bring a just resolution. Protect women and girls in vulnerable spaces through strong policies, and give courage to those who speak up when something is wrong.
Lord, give wisdom and conviction to Governor Newsom, the California Legislature, our judges, the California Interscholastic Federation, and all those in authority. Open their eyes to the seriousness of this issue and move them to enact and uphold policies that protect the dignity, privacy, safety, and opportunities of women and girls. Where injustice has occurred, bring accountability, healing, and restoration.
