WASHINGTON, DC – As Mother’s Day is celebrated on May 10, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) calls on Congress to pass several bills that will provide vital resources to new or expectant mothers.

Sen. Katie Britt’s (R-AL) and Rep. Michelle Fischbach’s (R-MN) MOMS Act and Rep. Diana Harshbarger’s (R-TN) Pregnancy.Gov Act both will establish an easy-to-use online database for women in need of local prenatal or postnatal services, counseling, adoption resources, nutrition coaching, abuse relief and recovery, addiction services, mental health services, and an array of life-affirming care. The Pregnant Students’ Rights Act seeks to protect pregnant students and those who are already parents from discrimination and to ensure they can continue their education. The Let Pregnancy Centers Serve Act aims to expand access to community-based resources and protect pregnancy centers that provide crucial support to women facing crisis pregnancies.

“As pro-lifers, we want to encourage and support new and expectant mothers. Congress must do its part by passing key legislation designed to support mothers as they raise the next generation. As birth rates plummet, our country needs to invest in the success of mothers, and not in the taking of life through abortion,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee.

“Mothers facing new pregnancies should have easier access to resources that can aid them, which developing Pregnancy.gov will do. Many women, especially those who are facing unplanned pregnancies, should know that pro-life resources and centers exist to help them. Congress can and should make this happen,” she said.
