Save the Date for the 3rd Annual Pennsylvania March for Life!

By | Pennsylvania | No Comments

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”  Micah 6:8

Share the truth, joy, goodness, and beauty of life by joining Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Pennsylvania and thousands of pro-life individuals from around the state at the 3rd Annual Pennsylvania  March for Life on October 16, 2023.

Let’s show the nation once again that Pennsylvania wants to see laws that reflect a culture of life. Every human life has dignity inside and outside of the womb. Every unborn child is a wonder! Both mom, dad, unborn child, and born child have value, are priceless, and have been bought with an unmatched price through the blood of Jesus Christ.

CWA of Pennsylvania is proud to march with each of you in this new Dobbs era, for we know our job is not done yet! We are watching the landscape of abortions change in our nation. Chemical abortions are on the rise within our state, while mobile abortion units may soon come to a community near you. Pro-life leaders and pregnancy resource centers that provide tangible care are being attacked.

Abortion is now a state matter, so now more than ever, we need to remain committed to the conviction that unborn babies are made in the image of God and, as such, deserving of the rights God has given to all people. That is why I am asking you to join us Monday, October 16, in Harrisburg as we march to protect the most vulnerable and let the women of Pennsylvania know they are not alone! Make sure you save the date and keep looking for more details to come your way.

Letter to the Editor: Respect for life

By | South Dakota | No Comments

Concerned Women for America of South Dakota State Director Linda Schauer’s letter to the editor on overturn of Roe v. Wade was recently published in the Rapid City Journal. For those who do not have a subscription, the letter to the editor is printed below.

Letter to the editor: Respect for life
July 8, 2022

We are grateful for the overturning of Roe v. Wade and for South Dakota’s 2005 trigger statute prohibiting abortion except to save the life of the mother. We mourn the lives of over 60 million babies who were victims of the wrongly held decision of the Court in 1973 that legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. We grieve with those mothers (and fathers) who felt it expedient to abort their baby and now live with grief and regret and sometimes physical scars.

We are thankful for those heroes who started and labored in the right-to-life effort. Many sacrificed their time and treasure to save babies. They prayed outside abortion facilities, counseled mothers at pregnancy care centers, and sought laws to restrict the deadly practice.

We are not so naive as to think that no more abortions will occur. After 50 years of a culture of death, we still have hearts and minds to change. We must continue to lovingly support and encourage women in their pregnancies. We must declare respect for life from the moment of conception and understand that all life is precious. We must recognize that we are created in the image of God.

Abortion on Demand Act Defeated! Thank you!

By | Legislative Updates, News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

In an email sent yesterday, we asked you to contact your Senators and urge them to oppose S. 4132, the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA). Your engagement was successful!

On Wednesday afternoon, the WHPA failed to receive the 60 votes necessary to end debate on the Senate floor and advance to final passage. Thanks to your powerful messages, a bipartisan majority of the Senate—51 Senators including one Democrat–stood strong and rejected this radical ploy for abortion on demand up until birth. View the roll call HERE.

We cannot yield in our efforts to end this blatant denigration of the sanctity of all human life. The Left and Congressional Democrats have pledged to continue this futile charge to enshrine and expand Roe v. Wade into federal law and overrule all commonsense state measures to protect innocent life and the health and well-being of vulnerable women. Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee will fight back every step of the way to champion a culture of life. We hope you will walk alongside us!

Urgent: Dangerous Abortion Bill Moving in California

By | California | No Comments

Last week, I was proud to join with many of our Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California Prayer Action Chapter Leaders and members to oppose the egregious pro-abortion bill, AB 2223. We prayed for the California Legislature, lobbied the Assembly Health Committee, and met with our own district assembly members. The heartfelt civic engagement at the California State Capitol was powerful.

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) strongly opposes AB 2223. Under the guise of “reproductive health,” this bill decriminalizes killing babies in or out of the womb based on the “perinatal” language. The bill harms children in the womb, threatens those born alive, and will have a chilling effect on the investigation of infant deaths.

AB 2223 passed out of the Assembly Health Committee and now moves to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for a vote. AB 2223 will go to the Assembly floor for the full Assembly vote if it passes out of the Appropriations Committee.

ACT TODAY!
Please contact your State Assembly Member through our Action Center HERE and urge them to defend life and oppose AB 2223. Now is the time to act and make a difference!

Would you make three phone calls and say thank you?

Just three out of 15 assembly members on the Assembly Health Committee voted against AB 2223. Would you call their offices and thank them for representing our values and defending the sanctity of life?

  1. Frank Bigelow (R-District 5), 916-319-2005
  2. Heath Flora (R-District 12) 916-319-2012
  3. Marie Waldron (R-District 75), 916-319-2075

Prayer: Psalm 145:18 says, “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” Dear Lord, we pray for the California Legislature to seek truth. Convict their hearts and transform their minds with your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God bless you for your faithfulness in prayer and action!

World Health Organization Promotes Abortion on Demand

By | International, News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

Earlier this month, the World Health Organization (WHO), ignoring that the so-called right to abortion does not exist within international law, released its new guidelines on abortion. Self-management abortion and telemedicine are their recommendations “to keep women and girls safe.”

According to their press release, abortion is an “extremely safe procedure when it is carried out using the method recommended by WHO, the UN agency.” One of these methods is using a “combination of mifepristone plus misoprostol or misoprostol.”

Despite the fact that WHO is an institution whose focus is supposed to be on health, it does not step back from making recommendations to policymakers—asking them to remove barriers to safe abortion, barriers such as the criminalization of abortion, mandatory waiting times, or the need for the parents to give their approval, among others. They also recommend “over-the-counter emergency contraceptive pills, without prescription to individuals who wish to use emergency contraception.”

Sadly, these new guidelines from the WHO are clear evidence that the UN and its institutions do not care about women and girls. It is not news that abortion, like any other medical procedure, presents a risk. This risk could increase when it is done without a proper medical evaluation. The pro-abortion agenda of the WHO seems to matter more than the safety of women and girls.

The Lozier Institute and its report “The Evolution of ‘Self-Managed’ Abortion: Does the Safety of Women Seeking Abortion Even Matter Anymore” presents a study in which one out of five women who had a chemical abortion presented complications and required surgery. Accordingly, with this study, the rates of complications for a medical abortion vs. surgical abortion are four times higher.[1]

Other risk factors for “self-managed” abortion are infections, hemorrhaging, pelvic inflammatory disease, mental health complications, etc. Still, the WHO has ignored this information and is now promoting abortion on demand. The WHO is also demanding that countries make abortion services affordable for women. In other words, they require that abortion be publicly funded and free so the cost will not be a burden.[2]

The U.S. government is the number one donor to the WHO, followed by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation[3]. This means that our tax dollars are promoting these outrageous recommendations.

Abortion hurts women and girls, and ultimately it hurts us as a society. We must continue to defend the unborn and stand for women and girls who sadly are misled by institutions like WHO. Our government must be held accountable for having a part in the misinformation.

[2] As part of an enabling environment, considerations of gender equality, human rights and equity should guide the
design of health financing policy to reduce if not eliminate the financial barriers for the most vulnerable, and to
ensure equitable access to good-quality services (93). The CEDAW Committee has described fees for abortion
as being burdensome to women’s informed choice and autonomy (94, para. 37). Where user fees are charged
for abortion, this should be based on careful consideration of ability to pay, and fee waivers should be available
for those who are facing financial hardship and adolescent abortion seekers. World Health Organization, Abortion care guideline, (2022) https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/handle/10665/349316/9789240039483-eng.pdf?sequence=1&isAllowed=y

The Ongoing Fight to Protect Hyde

By | Legislative Updates, News and Events, Sanctity of Life | No Comments

(Action item at the bottom of the post.)

President Biden’s $6 trillion Fiscal Year 2022 budget proposal to Congress breaks over four decades of bipartisan precedent by removing the Hyde Amendment, a prohibition on federal funding of elective abortion through Medicaid, Medicare disability, and other programming under Health and Human Services appropriations. As Congress proceeds with the appropriations process, pro-life advocates are gearing up to ensure that this time-honored safeguard is preserved.

The U.S. House of Representatives recently launched “Eighteen Days for H.R. 18,” a strategy utilizing procedural maneuvers to seek immediate consideration of H.R. 18, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act. This legislation would make the Hyde Amendment permanent and expand its applicability across all government programming, including Obamacare. CWALAC is scoring all votes related to the measure.

As of today, over 20 members have taken to the House floor to publicly highlight the importance of codifying the Hyde Amendment and defending life. On June 23, 2021, a key procedural vote put House Democrats on the record in obstruction of H.R. 18 and its progression through the chamber. This is far from the end of the fight. Our pro-life allies in Congress need our support as they continue to reject this Administration’s brazen assault on our most vulnerable and the conscience rights of American taxpayers.
