Sen. Hyde-Smith and Rep. Miller Submit Proclamation into the Record

Washington, D.C. –  Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) launched a nationwide initiative to declare April as “Faith Month” and an opportunity to honor the religious heritage of millions of Americans. Joining in this effort are Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Mississippi) and Rep. Mary Miller (R-Illinois), who entered a proclamation into the official congressional record (here and here) to declare April as “Faith Month.” Rep. Miller also gave a floor speech in support of CWALAC’s initiative.

More than 70% of Americans consider themselves religiously affiliated, according to Pew Research, and the overwhelming majority are of the Christian faith. Many months are set aside to honor the heritage and important contributions of other groups. With so many Americans identified as religious, setting aside a month to honor them is an important movement.

Along with calling on lawmakers at the federal and state level to recognize April as Faith Month, CWALAC is encouraging all Americans of faith across the country to fly or display the Christian flag during the month.

“We are proud of our faith, of our Judeo-Christian heritage, and are calling on Americans to show their support,” said Penny Nance, President and CEO of Concerned Women for America.  “April is the month when millions will be celebrating the holiest time of the year through Holy Week, Easter, and Passover, and it is an opportune time to show how important our faith is to our daily lives.

“We especially thank Sen. Hyde-Smith and Rep. Miller for being the first to stand with us!”

Numerous groups are recognized for a month to celebrate their heritage. For instance, June is designated Gay Pride Month, which results in the rainbow flag being flown in many places, including over U.S. embassies and on our government buildings.

The country’s founding documents and laws are based on moral principles that came from the Bible. All U.S. presidents, from George Washington to Joe Biden, have acknowledged America’s faith and our many blessings from God.

In Matthew 5:16, Jesus encouraged his followers to “[L]et your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”  By making our faith known to others, flying the flag of our faith, we are committed to following those words.

Congress Puts LGBTQ Agenda Ahead of Women

By | News and Events, Press Releases | No Comments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, the Senate passed the massive omnibus government funding bill that includes the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Reauthorization Act by a vote of 68-31.

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), the largest grassroots public policy women’s organization in the country, opposes the VAWA reauthorization because it fails women. VAWA prioritizes the rights for biological males self-identifying as women over the safety and privacy rights of women.

“This backroom deal voted on in the dark of night is heartbreaking for women,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWALAC. “The deceptive name of this bill fails to identify its real intent – the dramatic advancement of gender ideology in federal law, including for the first-time millions of dollars in special set-asides for LGBTQ+ programs in addition to the millions already given to this identity group as a priority under existing law. All at taxpayers’ expense.  That carve-out is unprecedented and leaves women behind, again.

“We are extremely disappointed in the eighteen Republican Senators who voted for VAWA. Our more than 500,000 members will be voicing their concerns with their Senators who voted in favor of the gargantuan bill. They were duped into thinking VAWA is about protecting women when it is the opposite.”

Senate Dems Want to Sacrifice Our Daughters on the Altar of Political Correctness

Senate Dems Want to Sacrifice Our Daughters on the Altar of Political Correctness

Washington D.C. – Upon return from the Thanksgiving holiday, the U.S. Senate will consider the FY 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), including a provision requiring young women to register with the Selective Service for a potential military draft. The U.S. House of Representatives passed its own version of the annual defense bill with a similar provision in September. The House version also includes funds for CRT training, diversity officers, and inclusion and equity programs.

This monumental, unjustified reversal in policy forces our military to be sex-blind in all selection, training, and service of draftees, erasing key biological differences between males and females that have everything to do with readiness in wartime. Further, the provision gives the federal government blanket discretion to institute a draft for any number of unspecified reasons.

Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, had this to say:

“The recent role that woke ideology played in the Virginia election should have been a wakeup call for Congress. Instead, current language in the funding bill for America’s military and military academies contains the same ideology soundly rejected across the nation. CRT funding and woke diversity officers are part of the Left’s effort to deconstruct the U.S. military and our academies. Add to the mix language forcing women to register for Selective Service (i.e. the draft) and language specifically prohibiting military leaders for making decisions based on sex is disastrous policy that will cost lives.

“Concerned Women for America admires and supports the strong, patriotic women who volunteer for military service, but we refuse to believe the destructive lie that women’s equality means sameness with men. American women do not need to be conscripted to fight on the frontline of war to prove their worth.

“Even after a three-year, $45 million taxpayer funded commission’s unsubstantiated recommendation, a 2021 Ipsos poll shows that support for drafting women has nosedived—especially among females—since the issues was last debated in 2016, with only 45% of Americans and a third of women in favor of the policy.

“We are also witnessing growing enthusiasm from both parties to repeal the Selective Service altogether. At a time of such deep division, we rarely see this harmony. This makes any call to expand this outdated agency’s purpose and reach even more tone-deaf.

“Fresh off the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and a terror attack that took the lives of 13 U.S. servicemembers, Americans are rightfully weary to award new mobilization powers to the government. Trusting this Administration—or any other—with the unchecked latitude to declare a national emergency and conscript 18- to 25-year-old women for any number of purposes is too great a risk.

“Sacrificing our young women on the altar of political correctness is a clear dealbreaker, but the potential inclusion of race-driven, divisive ideological agendas gives further reason to oppose the bill in its current form. Sadly, the House-passed version of the NDAA diverts from mission-critical defense objectives to fund this nonsense. The Senate must say no.

“We reject the shameful fallacy that Congress must rubber stamp the social experimentation of our military to secure critical funding for our troops and national defense. An NDAA that drafts our daughters and granddaughters is a non-starter, and we call on members of courage to oppose its advancement.”

Nance: Number of Child Brides Is a Global Atrocity

By | News and Events | No Comments

In her latest op-ed posted in Townhall, Concerned Women for America’s CEO and President Penny Nance, draws attention to the atrocity of child brides that affects more than 650 million girls worldwide.

From the article: “The effects on girls forced into marriage at such an early age are detrimental and impact their whole life: literacy, health, and overall well-being. Girls under the age of 15 are five times more likely to die in childbirth, and just as devastating, a child born to a child bride is 60% more likely to die in their first year of life.

“The United States must step forward and work to end the practice of child brides. We cannot ignore girls’ lives being ruined by being forced into a marriage when they should still be playing at recess. As women, we cannot remain blind to this reality. There are no simple answers, but there are some bottom line principles. U.S. aid to offending countries should be tied to reform … ”

Penny Nance Defends Texas Abortion Bill to Fox News

By | Media, News and Events | No Comments

Concerned Women for America’s CEO and President, Penny Nance, was quoted in Fox News today defending Texas’ heartbeat bill. “The dramatic, angry, and partisan coverage of Texas’ new heartbeat law is very telling and unfortunately, not at all surprising,” she said. “This law was properly debated and passed with bi-partisan support by democratically elected lawmakers in the state of Texas. Texans want this law.”

“Leftists and media outlets are angered by the Supreme Court’s refusal to play interference and act as judicial activists. We are very thankful to have a Supreme Court that understands its role and refuses to be manipulated by charged emotional public pressure.”

Conservative Women Celebrate Saving Babies in Texas

Washington, D.C. – Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America (CWA), the largest public policy organization for women in the nation, had this to say on the news of the United States Supreme Court’s denial of attempts to stop the Texas Heartbeat Law:

“It is telling to see the abortion industry’s angry reaction to the Supreme Court’s refusal to play interference between the Left’s radical ideas and the American people. Texas’ heartbeat law was properly debated and passed with bi-partisan support. Texas women want this law.

“CWA of Texas worked hard to see it passed. The other side had ample opportunity to convince the public of their views. But they lost. It is as simple as that.

“Now, as usual, they seek for judicial activists to do for them what they couldn’t do through the proper legislative process. Since 1973 the militant left has used the courts to impose their fringe views of abortion at any time, for any reason, any number, and all paid for by the taxpayers of America. Those days are over. We are thankful for a Supreme Court that knows its role and refuses to be manipulated in this way, letting the democratic process continue instead.

“Bottom line, babies are being saved in Texas today. We know that makes for a rainy day for the Left, but most Americans rejoice. That’s the headline.”

Infrastructure Bill is Reckless Spending and Cover to Promote Divisive, Radical Policies

Washington, D.C. — Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), has voiced strong objection to provisions in the Senate Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that are using “infrastructure” projects as cover to promote divisive, radical policies.

Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWALAC, had this to say:
“Today, Concerned Women for America members across the nation call on: Senators Blunt (R-Missouri), Burr (R-North Carolina), Capito (R-West Virginia), Cassidy (R-Louisiana), Collins (R-Maine), Cornyn (R-Texas), Cramer (R-North Dakota), Crapo (R-Idaho), Fischer (R-Nebraska), Grassley (R-Iowa), Hoeven (R-North Dakota), McConnell (R-Kentucky), Murkowski (R-Alaska), Portman (R-Ohio), Risch (R-Idaho), Romney (R-Utah), Rounds (R-South Dakota), Sullivan (R-Alaska), Tillis (R-North Carolina), and Wicker (R-Mississippi) to stand firm against this frivolous wasteful government spending that will pass on crippling debt to future generations of Americans.

“There is no justification for the high price tag associated with this bill. With the current national U.S. debt exceeding $28 trillion, this bill is nothing but more irresponsible, reckless spending with no end in sight.

“In an evenly divided Senate, legitimate disagreement and discourse should be respected. This ‘infrastructure’ bill will waste trillions of dollars and includes innumerable controversial provisions that have nothing to do with actual meaningful investments in American infrastructure.  CWALAC opposes this Trojan horse of a bill, and we urge the above Senators to stand firm against it.

We remind these Senators that under their leadership, since 2000, the national debt has grown from $5 trillion to a staggering $28 trillion. This is contrary to the principles most of them embraced as their reasoning for entering public service.  This vote will serve as a legacy of debt and irresponsible spending as many of them leave the Senate.  Shame.”

After Targeting Black Lives for Decades, Abortion Movement Smears Pro-Life Women as Racist

By | CEO, News and Events | No Comments

A recent MSNBC panel of women smeared pro-life women as being racists and seeing black women as human “incubators.” Concerned Women for America’s CEO and President, Penny Nance, stepped in to correct the record.

From the article: “The billion-dollar abortion industry profits from the death of minority babies, whereas the pro-life movement works to support life and liberty for them.” Read her full piece here.
