On February 10, HB26-1082, the Children Are Not for Sale Act, was heard in the House Judiciary Committee of the Colorado General Assembly. Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Colorado made our voice heard through testimony in support of this important legislation.
HB26-1082 proposed mandatory life sentences without parole for individuals convicted of sexual activity with a minor. Despite offering strong protections for children, the committee voted to indefinitely postpone the bill, effectively killing it.
This decision raises serious questions about where some lawmakers stand on protecting Colorado’s children.
Take Action:
Were any of these committee members from your district? If so, we encourage you to contact them and share your thoughts regarding their vote.
Find your legislator here. Make sure they know that State Director Karen Pennington of Concerned Women for America of Colorado is keeping you informed about legislation impacting our state.
If they voted in alignment with your values, thank them. If they did not, let them know, respectfully and clearly, that you expect stronger protections for children.

With an election in November, now is the time to consider whether your elected officials align with your values regarding the protection of children.
It is our right to be heard. The right we do not exercise is the right we lose. Thank you for standing in prayer and action!
Pray:
Thank You, God, that we live in a country that recognizes our rights come from You. Thank You that we still have the freedom to exercise our God-given rights. We pray for righteous laws in Colorado that protect Your people without oppressing them. Please give our lawmakers wisdom, courage, and integrity as they serve. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
