America is Rejecting Sex-Rejecting Procedures

An abusive strain of pseudoscience (so-called “gender-affirming care”) is coming to a steady end—lawsuits, science, and testimonies from detransitioners ring clear that sex-rejecting procedures, cross-sex hormones, and puberty blockers are nothing less than ideology-driven child mutilation.

The first domino fell with the stroke of President Trump’s pen in January 2025. Just days after swearing in to office, the President signed an executive order halting all federal funding to hospitals, clinics, and research institutions engaged in puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or sex-rejecting procedures to children under the age of 19. He is keeping the promise he made to the American people.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) followed up with a thorough and conclusive peer-reviewed report on gender dysphoria and sex-rejecting procedures, issued a declaration to the President in December 2025:

Sex-rejecting procedures for children and adolescents are neither safe nor effective as a treatment modality for gender dysphoria, gender incongruence, or other related disorders in minors, and therefore, fail to meet professional recognized standards of health care. For the purposes of this declaration, “sex-rejecting procedures” means pharmaceutical or surgical interventions, including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries such as mastectomies, vaginoplasties, and other procedures, that attempt to align an individual’s physical appearance or body with an asserted identity that differs from the individual’s sex.

Just a month after the watershed HHS declaration, the very first of dozens of detransition lawsuits was decided in January 2026. Varian Fox, a woman who struggled with gender dysphoria in her teens and underwent a double mastectomy at sixteen, won 2 million dollars in a long-fought lawsuit against her doctors.

Out of twenty-eight total lawsuits for wrongful death and medical malpractice against “gender-affirming care” providers, twelve remain pending in the United States. Doctors from Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Kaiser Permanente Medical Group make up a significant portion of defendants, and almost every victim is a female seeking justice for nightmarish butchery at the hands of doctors who rushed them without informed consent into irreversible, life-altering gender transition procedures as minors.

Varian’s landmark case was almost immediately followed by a public position change from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). After a review of the May 2025 report from HHS, the ASPS published a position statement on sex-rejecting procedures:

In light of recent publications reporting very low/low certainty of evidence regarding mental health outcomes, along with emerging concerns about potential long-term harms and the irreversible nature of surgical interventions in a developmentally vulnerable population, ASPS concludes there is insufficient evidence demonstrating a favorable risk-benefit ratio for the pathway of gender-related endocrine and surgical interventions in children and adolescents. ASPS recommends that surgeons delay gender-related breast/chest, genital, and facial surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old. (Emphasis added)

What’s more, on February 17, New York City’s NYU Langone Hospital closed its pediatric gender clinic, one of the largest peddlers of harmful puberty blockers (administered to children as young as twelve) and sex-rejecting procedures in the country. Hospital officials cited fiscal pressure from the Trump Administration in their decision, joining almost forty hospitals and clinics that have done the same.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) has been in the fight to end child mutilation under the guise of gender ideology for almost a decade, and the past year has proven historic due largely in part to the Trump Administration’s diligent commitment to protecting children from dangerous sex-rejecting procedures using an all-of-government approach.

That said, the fight is far from over. Gender ideologues and the Big Gender pharmaceutical establishment won’t go down without a fight. The American Medical Association (AMA) and World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) have dug in their heels, insisting that so-called “gender-affirming care” is “lifesaving” and legitimate. In Washington, D.C., lawmakers have introduced legislation aimed at designating sex-rejecting procedures as a Constitutional right, and blue-state governors are fighting with the Trump Administration tooth-and-nail to preserve child mutilation in their states.

With just one year of President Trump’s second term in the books, CWA looks forward to working with the Trump Administration to protect our youth by stamping out sex-rejecting procedures for good. The advent and proliferation of so-called “gender-affirming care” will be remembered as a shameful chapter in American history—but a chapter, God willing, that is coming to a close.
