NOW is the time to ENGAGE! Act and Pray for Two Texas Pro-Life Bills

By March 24, 2025Sanctity of Life, Texas

As the 89th Texas Legislative Session heats up, we are working fast and furiously to read and study legislation filed by the Texas Senate and House!

Please know that there are several ways to be involved in ensuring our elected officials are keenly aware of the position of CWA Texas on bills representing our Core Issues.

  • For a legislator, know that hearing from constituents makes a difference! Your call/email expressing your position for or against a bill is noted.
  • The Texas legislature’s online site provides a wealth of information on the legislative process, legislators, bills and calendars of events, as well as live feeds of the meetings.
  • Stay alert during the remainder of this Texas legislative session for urgent requests from CWA Texas for calls to ACTION and/or PRAYER for specific legislation.

This week, in the Texas Senate, we will be supporting these two bills:

  • SB 31 Life of the Mother Act: This bill gives clear guidance to medical professionals on what current pro-life laws allow relating to otherwise prohibited abortions. This provision does not broaden abortion access or alter the exceptions; instead, it reduces the confusion in using reasonable medical judgment.
  • SB 2880 Woman and Child Protection Act: This bill strengthens Texas’ pro-life laws by expanding civil enforcement mechanisms of the Texas Heartbeat Act to target the trafficking, distribution, and facilitation of abortion-inducing drugs.

These bills are scheduled to be heard in the Senate State Affairs Committee this Thursday, March 27.

ACTION: Please call or email the members of the State Affairs Committee and register your support for each of these bills. When calling, you can discuss the two bills, but when emailing, send two separate emails with each bill number in the subject line. Be sure to inform them that you are a Concerned Women for America of Texas member.

PRAY: Pray for the legislators on the Senate committee by name that God would give them the wisdom and understanding to accomplish His purposes.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” -Psalm 139:13
