America’s 250th birthday is more than a milestone—it is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to preserving the faith and freedoms that have made our nation a beacon of hope to the world.
I had the privilege of joining nine Concerned Women for America (CWA) of New Mexico leaders at Concerned Women for America’s 2026 Leadership Summit, Resolute: One Nation Under God, in Washington, D.C., September 17–19. Our theme verse was:
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. (Psalm 33:12)
Nearly 600 women from across the country gathered to affirm the value of every human life, the sacredness of the family, and the importance of our nation’s security and positive influence in the world. CWA leaders came together with a shared vision of impacting our culture for Christ through prayer, education, and advocacy.
While in Washington, D.C., leaders from Concerned Women for America (CWA) and Young Women for America (YWA) had the honor of hearing from several distinguished members of Congress during our Legislative Briefing. We left encouraged and inspired. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said it best: “Concerned Women for America is having its finest moment in history.”
Even amid the challenges facing our nation, CWA is prayerfully moving forward, lifting our leaders and our country before the Lord.
Taking New Mexico’s Voice to Capitol Hill
One of the highlights of the Summit was the opportunity to visit Capitol Hill and advocate for legislation that supports mothers and their unborn children. Our New Mexico delegation visited the offices of Reps. Gabe Vasquez (2nd District), Melanie Stansbury (1st District), and Teresa Leger Fernandez (3rd District), as well as Sen. Ben Ray Luján. We asked them to support the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed (MOMS) Act.
The MOMS Act would help connect expectant mothers and families facing unexpected or particularly difficult pregnancies with comprehensive information about public and private resources available in their communities. We were grateful for the opportunity to bring this important issue directly to our New Mexico congressional delegation and advocate for practical resources that support women, their babies, and their families.
It was a privilege to represent CWA of New Mexico on Capitol Hill and to make our voices heard on behalf of mothers and unborn children. This is one of the many ways CWA puts our prayers into action—by respectfully engaging our elected officials and encouraging them to support policies that uphold life and strengthen families.

Equipped to Serve New Mexico
In addition to our time on Capitol Hill, we participated in training designed to strengthen various aspects of our state organization, including our Prayer/Action Chapters.
CWA’s nondenominational Prayer/Action Chapters bring believers together to pray, become educated on important issues, and take meaningful action based on Biblical principles. When Christians join in informed prayer and action, we can make a difference in our communities, our state, and our nation. Most importantly, we are following God’s instruction to pray faithfully:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.(Ephesians 6:18)
