Love Is a Verb

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.
But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh;
rather, serve one another humbly in love.
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
– Galatians 5:13-14

The word “love” appears more than 300 times in the King James Version of the Holy Bible and more than 500 times in the New International Version. God obviously considers love a major part of the Christian walk. But what does love mean? Webster’s defines love as strong affection – a deep feeling for another.

As James reminds us, faith without works is dead. At Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Kentucky, we believe love without service is useless. As we celebrate Valentine’s Day this month, let us remember that Jesus calls us to demonstrate our love through service. We advance God’s kingdom when we love others through prayer, by educating them about issues that affect our Christian values, and by advocating for those values with our local, state, and national elected leaders.

JOIN ME IN PRAYER

Father God, as You have loved us, may we love others. May we walk out that love by not only caring about others, but also by serving them in the way Jesus asks of us. Let the Holy Spirit convict us when we see opportunities to serve. Give us hearts that hunger to show others the same love You have shown us. Let us live a life that reflects that love by serving others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
