For the Christian, everything we do, in word or deed, we do in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father, through Him (see Colossians 3:17). And despite the weird, evil manipulations of the Bible by some candidates this election season, most Christians understand the Biblical ethics that guide our values.
We discover in the pages of Scripture that life is precious in the sight of GOD. We are created with purpose, even while still in our mother’s womb (see Psalm 139:13-14). Therefore, we reject abortion. We reject anti-children policies that devalue life and hurt children. We reject the legalization of drugs that put children at risk. We stand against making gambling and pornography more accessible to children. We reject unfiltered access to AI and other online filth that pollutes their minds with all manner of licentious messages.
As believers, we recognize marriage as a holy institution created by GOD to reflect the profound mystery that is the love and union of Christ and His bride, the Church (see Ephesians 5:32). Therefore, we know children thrive best with a loving mother and an engaged father. No matter what the culture says, any two persons will not do.
There are only two sexes. In the beginning God created us male and female (see Genesis 1:27). Men are not women. Girls are not boys. We do not get to choose our sex. It is not something that is “assigned at birth.” God created us while still in our mother’s womb.
We believe we are to provide for our families (see 1 Timothy 5:8). We are to treat workers with honesty (see James 5:4). We believe government should punish evil and protect good citizens (see Romans 13:3-4).
We support religious liberty. It is a Biblical concept. There is no conversion by compulsion in the Word of God. This does not make all religious claims equally valid. There is only One True God (see John 14:6). Religious freedom does not require imposed polytheism or atheism. It does not require acceptance of evil in any form, including when masqueraded by religious doctrine.
The Apostle Paul told Timothy that a time would come when many would devote themselves to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons (see 1 Timothy 4:1). Religious tolerance does not require the state to embrace the policies of demons. Sound wisdom should guide state policy. And the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD (see Proverbs 9:10).
We take God at His Word. We do not get to define Him. He reveals Himself to us through the Holy Scriptures. And we affirm His statutes without amendment. There is an awful lot of policy guidance in these truths, as you can see. We can immediately identify specific votes that would affirm or deny these truths.
That is how the Christian votes. We let our light shine before men by upholding the Truth of the Word of God (see Matthew 5:16). We do so in word and deed. For the Christian, voting is simply part of the Christian walk.
Being young is no excuse for unsound voting. It seems that young Christians are especially targeted by the spirit of the age for political manipulation. Godless, anti-Biblical socialism is being sold today as a compassionate and benevolent ideology. As Winston Churchill once said, “Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.” You do not need to be old to understand this. You need only heed the words of the Apostle in Colossians 2:8, “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”
Paul also told young Timothy, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12). Our conduct includes voting.
So, let us be an example at the ballot box, too. You don’t need to be loud and confrontational. You don’t need to follow the crowd. You don’t need to regurgitate the political talking points of every podcast host to whom you listen. You just need to be confident in the Word of God. Be confident in the fact that God’s ways are best, not just for the Christian, but for all people.
For we were all created in God’s image, and we all find our purpose in Him. That Truth is unchanging regardless of historical, cultural, political, or theological framework.
So, my brothers and sisters in Christ, let’s go be the light tomorrow. Let’s go vote!
